Globe Trotter in Serbia - powered by Serbian players

Day 3,348, 14:49 Published in Serbia North Korea by Silexu

Dear Serbia!

The number of votes I received for the Hi article could have only be surpassed by a fabulous picture contest. And this is the case!

[Update - Globe Trotter]

I had the intention to write yet another article in my Globe Trotter project and add pictures to the ones provided here. But then I realized how the valuable was the input from Serbian players. Another article would have just a pale added value compared with to this one.
Instead of that I will transform this article in the Globe Trotter one and add the pictures sent by the participants in the contests that I had to filter out. Also I will add the pictures mentioned in the comments. Last but not least I will add some pictures from Belgrade, it seams I did not receive many.

The voting will continue until the deadline, please check the rules at the end of the article. Only the pictures with numbers are in the contest.

1. Skull Tower of Nis, also known as Cele Kula, was built in 1809 in Nis, Serbia, by Turkish general Hurshid Pasha. He constructed the tower out of Serbian skulls after the Turks defeated them in battle.

The tower is comprised of 952 skulls from the First Serbian Uprising. It's 15 feet high and 13 feet wide, with 56 rows of skulls.

Hurshid Pasha led 36,000 troops against these Serbian rebels. When they were easily outnumbered and defeated, the Turkish decapitated them, peeled the skin off their heads, and molded the grim sculpture to serve as a lesson. The rebel commander's head was placed at the top.

Over the years, Serbians have returned to the Skull Tower to retrieve the bones of their family members. Today, only 58 skulls remain.

In 1878, the Serbs recaptured Nis and built a chapel around the structure as a monument to the fallen. It stands as a symbol of Serbian independence to this day.

Picture contest - voting

I received pictures from 8 different players and it is the first time I had to select only maximum 2 pictures per player to keep the article short enough so the voters will not get bored.

For the players that proposed more pictures I assure that the picture that did not make for the contest will surely make it for the final article. And in a way or another I will compensate their effort.

But enough talking - let's vote the 14 amazing proposed pictures.

You can vote up to three pictures. The first vote will count 3 points, second 2 points and the third 1 point. Please mention the picture number in the vote, it is easier for me to count them.

The deadline for voting is day 3350 10:00 eRep time.

The pictures where reshuffled in the way I am usually putting them in the Globe Trotter article. However the pictures that participates in the contest have a number in the description. You can use that for voting.

Picture contest - winner
The top 6 of the votes in the picture contest is as following:

9. Golubac Fortress built in 14th century, on river Danube in Djerdap National Park - proposed by Ankesenamen Ra - 41 vote points
8. National park Tara - proposed by SerbianAssaultForce - 36 vote points
7. Uvac Canyon - proposed by SerbianAssaultForce - 28 vote points
10. Vratna Gates, natural stone bridges in eastern Serbia - proposed by Ankesenamen Ra - 21 vote points
12. City Hall, Subotica - proposed by Pannonian Nomad - 19 vote points
1. Skull Tower of Nis - proposed by Dusan_95 - 18 vote points

Because the battle for the first two places was so fierce and also the next two positions are held by the same players I will give a price of 500CC for both Ankesenamen Ra anr SerbianAssaultForce. I would like to mention that 500CC came as supplementary prize from Banglades.

Because the contribution to the article was so valuable I will give a prize to each of the other participants of 200CC: Dusan_95, Banglades, GeneralSM, Pannonian Nomad and Lejkan.

Thank you all for the contribution!

Globe Trotter Itinerary

I have invitations for following countries. I will apply to them as soon as I am finishing with the previous one. Still a delay it is expected if I cannot apply (due to missing territories) or missing battles to met my 100 mil. damage mark. If you want me to come to your country and think you can support me in getting CS please send me a message and I will add your country to the list.

I have also promises for support in getting CS for next countries. As I mentioned before, if I will receive a direct invitation, that will mean more interest for the project, so I will add/move the country to the previous list.
