A picture is worth a thousand words

The Contest Picture was again not successful, but I received three pictures with interesting comments from fenoglioteam.

Oberhofen Castle: It´s a medieval castle (s.xiii). There you can see incredible gardens and the lake Thun. In addition, those mountains covered by snow behind the castle create a suitable landscape for a fairy tale.

Morgaten: It seems to be a peaceful place, no? In 1315 it wasn´t like this. You only need to google the battle of Morgaten to discover one of the most epic battles in swiss history.

Large Hadron Collider: It´s not the most beautiful place in Switzerland but it will probably be the future. When people think in Switzerland, they think in cows, cheese, lakes and of course, in money, but Switzerland is also one of the places with more advanced technology.

Interesting facts
The Zimmerwald Conference was held in Zimmerwald, Switzerland, from 5 to 8 September 1915. It was the first of three international socialist conferences convened by anti-militarist socialist parties from countries that were originally neutral during World War I. The individuals and organizations participating in this and subsequent conferences held at Kienthal and Stockholm are known jointly as the Zimmerwald movement.

The Third Zimmerwald Conference was originally called so that the Zimmerwald parties could discuss their attitude toward a proposed general conference of socialist parties in Stockholm that had been called by Petrograd Soviet and Dutch-Scandinavian Committee that had included the members of the old International Socialist Bureau. As this conference kept being postponed, so was the Zimmerwald meeting that was supposed to assemble before it, until late July 1917 when the International Socialist Commission decided to hold its own meeting regardless of what happened to the plans for the proposed general conference for September 5–12, 1917.
