The Q10 (Ten Quick Questions) – “Mr. Moneybags” Edition
with legendary elder statesman, Ligtreb.

Q1: I’m not going to beat around the bush here, when is your highly anticipated POTUS run going to happen? And why hasn’t it already happened? And do you think you will get 99% of the vote or 100%?... and can I be your VP? 🙂

Ligtreb: I'm honored to have been asked to run for POTUS as often as I have, and wonder what I've done to earn this. However, I don't see myself running in the near-future. Someday? Maybe. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't interested in the job, however, I've been close enough to past Presidents (as VP and in cabinets) that I've seen how much time they need to put in to being POTUS. I'm not currently ready to devote that much time on a daily basis to this game between work and my social life.

No, I wouldn't get 99% of the vote. It's extremely rare when someone runs unopposed, and I can barely crack 50% of the vote for Congress in California. No way anyone gets 99%, even if Eugene Harlot came back to run.

VP? You'd definitely be considered, but I'm not going to name a VP until I actually run. 😛

Q2: Who do you feel has had the best POTUS administration in eUS history and why?

Ligtreb: That's actually a very tough question. There's been so many good ones, it's hard to choose just one. Since you're really making me choose, I'm going to have to say Scrabman. He changed the Presidency to the serious role it is now and instituted a lot of government framework that still exists today (like the PD😎. He created a lot of cabinet roles and found good people to groom into more productive citizens, most notably, look what he did with Harrison Richardson. He also gave some newb his first cabinet position at the Welcoming Committee.

Q3: As the USWP’s most visible and respected member, can you please describe what you feel the USWP as a party stands for and represents within the eUS political community?

Ligtreb: The USWP, ever since I have been a member, has stood for finding talent and getting them into important roles in the game. They're most famous for doing that with Congress, where they have given dozens of promising newbs their first start, but they have also developed Presidents, Party Presidents, Cabinet members and other important people. Take a look at past governments, and you'll see that there's an abnormally large USWP members or alums in there.

Q4: The USWP is the nation’s #1 political party both by size and current influence and counts among its members the POTUS (Haliman), VPOTUS (SGGHays), SoH (Cromstar), dSoH (S3RO), numerous cabinet members and 28 Senators (47.46% of Congress). What do you think the USWP does well and where do you feel the USWP could improve upon as a party?

Ligtreb: The USWP is extremely good at recruiting members, both newer and older who are looking to get into politics. However, we could do an even better job at developing talent, for every awesome member like Haliman and Hadrian X, there are also newer people who just flame out and don't amount to much. This is a problem with every party, but the USWP especially because of the people in it and its size should tackle this problem.

Q5: What is your favorite game (board or otherwise) besides Monopoly and why?

Ligtreb: This is tough one. Monopoly is by far my favorite, but there are tons of board (and non-board) games I love. I'm a gamer in the non-video sense of the word, when I have free time and I'm not on eRep, I'm usually playing a board/card game of some kind.

If I had to choose just one, I'd choose Poker. I love games where skill gives you an advantage, but there's still an element of luck involved -- that way, a novice can occasionally beat an expert, and an expert has to stay on their toes even when playing against a bunch of newbs. In both Poker and Monopoly, you can have an expert, someone who's played thousands of times, but they still might lose to a new player on a lucky hand or a couple of lucky rolls. The more you play Monopoly or Poker, the better you get, but you never get good enough to win every game. Hearts, Scrabble and Risk are awesome games as well.

Q6: Quick word association… Troll, USWP, Ligtreb.

Ligtreb: Unproductive, Dedicated, old

Q7: Who is your personal eHero and why?

Ligtreb: Again, it's really tough to choose just one here. This country and the world have seen so many amazing players, it's hard to choose just one, so I'm going to cheat:

1) Among active players: Colin Lantrip. He's extremely loyal and always has newbs in mind, helping them without needing recognition. Long before he entered politics, Colin ran job hubs for new citizens, back when we needed them. He ran them out of his own pocket, never asking for money from anyone, and he sent regular messages to all the new players, teaching them how to play the game. He never bragged about all he did, and for many months rejected people like me who told him he should get into politics. He's never been a regular in the media and he's never been good at promoting himself. But he's always been loyal to those who have helped the country, when the USA Welcoming Committee was on hard times, Colin helped save it, and he's always swung resources and votes to good people who need them. Even as President, he's most famous for his food and weapon giveaways.

Among non-active players: Chocolate McSkittles. For a long time, I ran the Welcoming Committee on my own and was starting to get burned out, resulting in a lower-quality product for newbs. I had to reach out for help, and knew of only one person I could count on to transform the WC into the trusted organization it was, at its height, it was one of the more well-known organizations in the country. Choc, like Colin, wasn't about promoting himself, he was dedicated to helping all players and saw the game for what it was. He didn't role-play, he played by game mechanics and always spoke out for playing the game the right way.

Q8: When and if you ever decide to up and leave eRep, what would you like your eEpitaph to read?

Ligtreb: I'd like to be known as someone who helped make the country better. That's all I can ask for, people will forget my many different job titles, but if people know that I was dedicated for the country's good, I'll be happy.

Q9: In a USWP old dude marathon between you, Cromstar and IJLIV, who would win (and who would finish last) and why?

Ligtreb: Cromstar would finish last because he's too old to move quickly. IJLIV would start out ahead but fall behind when he got sidetracked and started trolling someone. I'd get on my Monopoly car and cruise to the finish line.

Q10: And finally, if you could punch any eCitizen square in the face, who would it be and why?

Ligtreb: This one's easy. Pizza the Hut. The only player I've truly looked down upon, he's done so much to try to destroy the country just to get elected. I'm glad he's in Montenegro, and he better stay there.

Bonus Q: Do you have any final thoughts or is there anything I neglected to cover that you would like to address?
Ligtreb: You forgot to mention that you're awesome. I'm glad you're running for USWP Party President.
