eRepublik is a game where leaders emerge and change the game with their idea’s, enthusiasm and ability to attract followers that believe in what they are selling. Ive always been a follower of these types of people and eCanada has always or usually had a couple of them floating around willing to stick their necks out with platforms regardless of the possibility of it being ridiculed, laughed at or dismissed and sometimes that happened but more often then not they became hailed as some of eCanada’s greats.



Addy Lawrence, Tyler F Durden, Rylde and Funky24 are but a small sample of these types that with their determination and zeal got me to change political party’s and march to their beating drum, follow them and work for them but when their drum fades due to exhaustion, burn out and in some cases death and sickness the party either finds a new voice or the party fades.

I recently changed my party to the CPF from the MDP because the MDP has been politically taken over by a lethargic group of people that work under the attitude of

MDP Party President Jason Welsh hasn’t written an article since day 2348 or even mentioned he was proclaiming himself Dictator for another term the last 2 terms he has been Party President which is the way the MDP picks its PP’s.

I also knew my chances of getting a congress seat were slim after being a wee bit critical of it 😉




In a dark corner of my mind I always admired Rolo for taking over party’s that became bored and relied on the sheep to keep electing the shepards come election time. Ive always felt that a party that reached a top 5 spot has to not only keep it but deserve to keep it and the MDP in its current form does not deserve that, it needs a voice and a leader that will not only keep it going but will compete with the other top 5 party’s and make them even better. I admire a great many people within the MDP (including Thedillpickl) and hope that one of them becomes the next leader that inspires others to become a more productive and engaged eCanadain. I remember the things PP’s did and stood for a lot more then any CP.

Ive recently been spanked https://ecanada.cc/forums/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=48888 by the Speaker for what some consider to be perhaps “a misuse/unethical use of power to me”-Congressmen Johnny Cache



I was hoping the Speaker would back me up but alas that wasn’t the case, I’ve been regulated to open and close votes after the appropriate time requirements have passed and/or initiate his removal should he be abducted by aliens for longer then 72 hours. I knew I was a more proactive Deputy Speaker then perhaps some have been in the past but there are precedents where a Speaker will say have at it in his absence from the forums due to life or work schedules so I wasn’t totally off base. Instead three’ish loud mouth newb Congress people who totally don’t understand written down procedures got me spanked and put in the corner. Everyone else either agrees with the results, don’t care or secretly hate me, I haz a sad.



Articles 3 and 4 of The Congressional Rules of Order, this is the part youve all been waiting for!

Article III: Debates

1. The Speaker or Deputy has the duty to alert any non-Congress Member whose participation in a discussion in Open or Closed doors or in-game article has been identified as required.

2. In game proposals - Any congressman wishing to put forward an in game proposal must post their reasons either on the forums or in an article in game and allow 24hrs for discussion before proceeding with the proposal in game. The only exception being pre approved proposals such as funding transfers from an approved budget. If posted in game it is the duty of the poster to alert congress.

3. Forum proposals - Any congressman wishing to make a proposal that can not be made in game must post it in ODC or CDC, depending on the nature of the proposal. There must be a minimum 24hrs debate before the speaker may move the proposal to a vote. The Speaker may choose to extend the length of a debate but may not shorten it.

4. During a debate any member of Congress may make a motion to amend the measure being debated. The proposal originator may choose to enact the amendment or disregard it. The originator has the final say on the wording and layout of the proposal to be voted on.

5. Motions of non-confidence leading to an in-game Presidential impeachment may bypass the 24 hour debate time if the current President has taken control of the government or military for nefarious purposes. All other motions of non-confidence must be discussed for a period of no less than 24 hours.



Article IV: Voting

1. It is the Speaker’s duty to set the length and ratification requirements for a vote taking place on the forums. Votes must run for a minimum 24hrs and require a quorum of 40% of congress as determined by the appropriate forum user-group to be valid, the exception being an impeachment vote, which must be a minimum 48hrs and requires a 50% quorum of Congress members as determined by the appropriate forum user-group. The speaker may extend any vote by 24hrs for a maximum of two times. If, at the end of that time, a clear result is not achieved then the vote is declared to have failed.

2. Unless the speaker gives another option, Members of Congress may only choose to voice an affirmative or negative vote or to abstain. The Speaker must declare what will be accepted as a valid response when presenting the vote. A Member may change their vote until the conclusion of the vote by explicitly stating the change. At the conclusion of the vote the Speaker must tally all votes and announce the results in the voting thread.

3. In order for a vote to be considered valid the Speaker must open a polling thread where Members may register their votes either by replying in the thread or by using the forum polling option. Unless otherwise stated, all votes require a minimum quorum of 40% of congressmen as shown by the forum user group with a simple majority of votes cast to pass.

Boring, imperfect but kinda clear.

I was blamed for locking a tax proposal/debate while a tax proposal/debate was already in progress….but but crisfire I don’t agree with that proposal so I started my own.

Why in the heck would we need multiple proposals going on at the same time for the same thing when ANY MEMBER OF CONGRESS CAN MAKE A MOTION TO AMEND THE MEASURE BEING DEBATED. We don’t, it confuses things and people don’t want to read multiple threads about the same thing so they don’t and democracy fails.

I was blamed for locking the tax proposal by Lance Luckey immediately after he agreed to an Amendment proposed by me and taking it to a vote and bypassing I guess an additional 24 hours of debate. There was about 9ish hours between the time the Amendment was accepted to the time I locked the thread and started the vote. Also would anyones argument or preferred tax rate of changed after Lance agreed to the amendment, would anyone have changed there stance on the whole issue because of the amendment…don’t think so, but convince me otherwise in the comment section or in the eCan forums.

This is where I would point to a part in the CRoO that tells us that we have to add time after an Amendment, it doesn’t so I cant

On the 27th of May a discussion thread was started to discuss tax’s, their has been a few articles outlining what increasing tax’s will bring by almost each point. There was a Proposal that lasted 24+ hours debating a 3% increase across the board where almost everyone disagreed but got the chance to repeat their preferred tax rate, usually not why but there it is. Lance Lucky amended his proposal after I asked him to to 3% work tax only, it seemed like a good compromise between those that want 5 and higher to those who want 1 or 2 points added. Either way There must be a minimum 24hrs debate before the speaker may move the proposal to a vote. The Speaker may choose to extend the length of a debate but may not shorten it. Im covered there it seems.



Johnny Cache then goes on to say “I want to add here for the record as well, that it further adds suspicion that crisfire apparently is now PMing people saying "Vote to raise the WT to 3%". I demand explanations mr. deputy speaker.”

There it is.

It has been the prerogative of some Speakers to notify congressmen that a vote is being held so that should a vote pass or fail it wont fail because of lack of particiapation. That’s all I was doing, didn’t say Vote yes or didn’t say vote no. I would never use what little authority a deputy Speaker has or abuse what little authority the Speaker gives a deputy to influence a vote one way or another. To be honest Ive said id like to see the WT at 5% but I could really give 2 shits. Id like to pay for some MPP’s but have very little interest in building up some sort of war chest, didn’t work out to well for the US. Rather see money go back to people to invest in companies or food and weapon programs

In closing Im disappointed in the Speakers decision, Im disappointed that people used my enthusiasm and prerogative to follow the CRoO to try and derail a compromise vote because they didn’t get it there way when realistically we are never going to all agree on something

And most importantly the vote for a 3% increase looks like it will pass in spite of everything \o/



....of course it has to pass an ingame vote now 😉

Great Tips for Beginners

- Join a Military Unit to take advantage of Daily Order rewards and seek help and supplies

- Join a political party and ask for help

- Save your gold to invest in training facilities

- Make lots of friends so that you can get info from shouts

- If your going to upgrade anything WAIT for the periodic deals like the 45% off company upgrade ect, ect.

- Make sure your in a Military Unit that provides supplies to fight and move

- Find enjoyment in game by interacting with others through the media, forums, shouts etc, and not even worrying about accomplishment in battle or business. These are crafted to be money sinks surely ending in disappointment.

- Don’t spend more in resources to accomplish eReps periodic missions then you get back in reward

- Do the math if you plan on hiring people and take tax’s into account, don’t lose money.

- eCanada is full of people willing to help out new players with food and weapons, start in MU’s and political party’s, grow your player network, use your feeds to ask for help.

- Upgrade your energy centers and training facilities, don’t waste gold on Energy bars and first aid packs.

- If you plan to spend real life money the best deal is the monthly Combat Stash

- Work, train and fight every day

- Don’t lose money chasing a Mercenary Medal as the reward is only 5 gold.
