Despicable DMV? Interview pt.1



The following is part two of a two part interview with DMV3

I have a “what if” scenario. Let’s say eCanada for whatever reason did not enter CoT and either stayed independent or joined TWO and relations between Canada and the US soured and hostilities broke out between us for whatever reason. Would DMV3 fight for eCanada or the US, would your answer change depending on who the aggressor was?

At this point this is a more realistic scenario than we might hope. If a war broke out between the eUS and eCanada I would be torn as I believe most people on both sides would be. Ultimately regardless of who was at fault I would fight for Canada and order my soldiers to do the same. The decision would be difficult for me as I still have a lot of friends in the eUS, but I have chose eCanada as my home and I will fight to protect her from invasion.

Congressman Rylde has tabled a proposal in Open Door Congress that would see your party receive a Congressional ban from the forums for its role in booting out a political party from its top 5 position by using multi’s and securing your own spot in the top 5 thus giving you congress members, I’m assuming that its for the full month of the November term, the duration wasn’t clear. In the proposal you stated that you actually agree that your party should be punished and went on later to say after some discussion about paying a fine that you would accept that but some go on to say that a some sort of forum ban is still called for either by itself or along with a fine. Please respond to those that think a ban is the way to go as without the use of multies, regardless of who makes them, these congressmen wouldn’t have gotten elected.

I went to bed on the 24th thinking I would be watching a Congressional election instead of participating in one. My first reaction when I woke up on the 25th was one of shock and disgust. Being a Party President, I didn't let my feelings get in the way of doing my job I campaigned and we elected 7 of our 8 candidates.

I do believe punishment of some kind is necessary even though I am not convinced anyone in the party was behind the multis. My hope for offering to support a punishment is that Congress would pursue greater election reform, but I have to come to realize that there is almost no way for anyone to provide proof either for or against a claim of election manipulation. So any reform would essentially lead to an environment where Congress finds a Party more or less trustworthy based solely on their popularity instead of any actual proof.

5. Your seeking the Presidency on November the 5th and I know your in the process of releasing your platform but do you think your message will resonate with eCanadians? Do you think you’ll be able to climb over the accusations and mistrust so that your message doesn’t get lost.

My message will and has resonated with voters which is why we were able to pick up more seats than two larger parties in Congress. People don't seem to have an issue with my message as much as my leadership style and their opinion that I do not respect the will of the people.

I believe a good leader must be decisive and stand behind decisions especially when those decisions are unpopular. The popularity of a decision seldomly has any bearing on whether a decision is right or wrong. I will sometimes make decisions that people do not agree with, that is the consequence of being a leader.

If a leader only does what is popular what do we really need them for? People elect leaders to make decisions they either don't want to make or can't make themselves. I am perfectly content with allowing the people to judge my decisions in the best method we have, the ballot box.

6. Ive asked the Party Presidents of the top three party’s in eCanada to respond to recent events and allegations of a PTO by yourself, please respond to each

Oinyo- “I do not like the American style of leadership that was being displayed. I am worried that if DMV gets back in we will see more "behind the curtain" actions and less open forum chats as we Canadians are known for.

I also do not like how we have abandoned many of our allies to focus on 1 single country... Why are we lowering our global standings to focus on a single country regardless of who it is?

In the end to be brutally honest. I am worried we are losing what makes eCan special.. An outside force came in and showed us what Americanizing eCan is like.. Now he is building a PTO party to push his agenda deeper into eCan.”

My answer to the last question touched on Oinyo's concerns, but I will expand upon that a bit. Oinyo misunderstood a lot of what happened last month. We worked with a lot of nations to better our relationships, but Foreign Affairs are about a consistent message month after month. The reasons a lot wasn’t heard about our meetings with China, Croatia, Albania, and the CoT nations we met with is because those meeting didn’t involve more than getting to know each other better and promising to work together more. I’m sorry he misunderstood my intentions, but I can understand why he thought I was PTOing Canada.

Conner MacLeod- “eCanada's policy of low taxes is going to attract a lot of people to our shores. Our community's ability to integrate these new citizens and MUs will determine the existence, and subsequent success, of any PTOs. Certain groups have painted DMV3 as a PTOer. Now he's playing that role up. It's given him an edge and a common cause to rally new citizens around. From a political perspective DMV's adversaries have given him a powerful PR tool to utilize. You think most eCanadians would have learned better after how they dealt with Rolo.”

Connor’s comment reinforces my rather high opinion of him. He hit the nail right on the head and this isn’t much more to say about that.

TheSmoke- “The recent events of our October Congress elections saw the CPP rise to 5th spot, booting out the PFC. It is widely known that the use of Multi accounts allowed the CPP to artificially populate itself in order to qualify for the Congress elections. This process, was entirely beneficial to the CPP party, however, the origin of these accounts is unknown. Without solid evidence we cannot expect to punish potentially innocent Congress members.

In a perfect game, this matter would be resolved by the admins who could release the true nature of this event, however this is eRep people. As a community we can try to sort out who is responsible, and what punishments are acceptable, but this method is very susceptible to abuse.

It is my hope that as a community, we understand what happened here, and will act accordingly in the future. In the end, we are the ones who hold the votes .

TheSmoke also seems to speak what I’ve been thinking when it comes to what happened with the CPP this month.

If I were to quit eRepublik for a year and all your ambitions came true during that time and I were to come back, what type of eCanada may I log in to?

I think if you took a vacation from eRep for a year and came back, you would be surprised by the Canada I envision. The Canada I envision is economic and military powerhouse, with a thriving diverse player base. Too often nations are behind the game as far as mechanics changes go, but do to our long term wipe eCanadians learned to survive with no real government income. It has made Canada more lean and efficient compared to a lot of other nations. This allows us to offer low taxes, which while they aren’t as beneficial as high bonuses they are a step in the right direction. By growing our player base through immigration however we will have the opportunity to acquire more bonuses in the months ahead.

Why did you choose to leave the US and make eCanada your home?

As stated earlier in the interview the eUS didn’t feel like the nation I belong in any longer. Despite the bumpy start to my time here Canada does actually feel like home to me now.

Anything you'd like to reveal or promote concerning your run for CP?

The PTO continues! I think people will be shocked and amused by my cabinet and my agenda for the month ahead. This campaign is going to be a little different than my last campaign, I am planning to not on lead but also entertain a bit for the month ahead.

Great Tips for Beginners

- Join a Military Unit to take advantage of Daily Order rewards and seek help and supplies

- Join a political party and ask for help

- Save your gold to invest in training facilities

- Make lots of friends so that you can get info from shouts

- If your going to upgrade anything WAIT for the periodic deals like the 45% off company upgrade ect, ect.

- Make sure your in a Military Unit that provides supplies to fight and move

- Find enjoyment in game by interacting with others through the media, forums, shouts etc, and not even worrying about accomplishment in battle or business. These are crafted to be money sinks surely ending in disappointment.

- Don’t spend more in resources to accomplish eReps periodic missions then you get back in reward

- Do the math if you plan on hiring people and take tax’s into account, don’t lose money.

- eCanada is full of people willing to help out new players with food and weapons, start in MU’s and political party’s, grow your player network, use your feeds to ask for help.

- Upgrade your energy centers and training facilities, don’t waste gold on Energy bars and first aid packs.

- If you plan to spend real life money the best deal is the monthly Combat Stash

- Work, train and fight every day

- Don’t lose money chasing a Mercenary Medal as the reward is only 5 gold.
