[CP] - August - The Competition and the Ministries

Gotta love that CP medal - P.S Still no CP banners

**Warning - Large article detailing the Ministries activity - At the end is a bonus piece on local media as a reward**

Hello all,

I now feel settled into my new role and I am ready to get my first article out into the world from the new shiny Country President Org.

The hope is that future CPs will also use this org to publish their articles so that there is effectively an archive of what the past CPs have said.

The first few days in Government are always about setting everyone up, giving them the right access and preparing channels of communication for the coming term. As I was MoF before I feel I had this a bit easier as I already had access to all of the needed Orgs!

The first challenge I faced was the competition that the Admins gave me 24 hours warning of. The MoFA and MoD teams were set off instantly in an attempt to find our options and look for the best possibilities to boost our chances of getting into the top 10.

Germany, France, Norway and Belgium were all names thrown around but talks were only solidly held between Germany and Belgium. When I had got back from work that day we deemed Germany the better option due to how close our damage output is to each other.

We apologised to our Belgium friends (who subsequently set up a TW with Poland) and NE'd Germany on the first day of my presidency!

There was hard fighting on both sides in this Competition war and as you can see in the stats it has really helped both countries. Both of us sit in the top 10 and took home a Q7 shield as a prize.

I would like to congratulate everyone again who was fighting hard to not only get the rewards for themselves but also the eUK. We banked a total of 1,400 gold which we will consider our options for once all of the competition details are over and finalised. If you have any suggestions, feel free to PM me.

I will now have a quick run through of the ministries so people can see what has been happening so far this term. I feel we have really upped the output of articles to keep everyone informed!

Ministry of Finance

Bank of England News

As I promised, my old ministry has been taken to a whole new level. Emergy and his team began work right away for the monthly count up and preparation for the term ahead.

You can see the finance side of things details in Emergy's articles here:

Count all the Monies

The first of the Ministries articles this month details the plans for the month ahead and gives a count up of the situation at the time. Take a look at the new lay out Emergy has brought!

MoF - Report Days 2087-2091

The first report detailing this term. Go take a look and see how we are doing!

Org Handbook

A handbook has also been created which lets MUs know how to best use their org. It was something requested in a comment this term and it is already up to be seen. Great work MoF!

There is also a new public google docs spreadsheet for this term. It is a lot fancier, go take a look! MoF Public Spreadsheet

Ministry of Home Affairs

I briefed this ministry at the start of the term by telling them to get as much information out there to the people as they can. Lots of people were PMing me in the run up to elections telling me they just didn't know what was going on most of the time and they wanted me to change that.

Now a lot of this is down to in game mechanics, something that can't be changed but I am hoping that with having these articles summed up in one article (two if you count mine) they can easily be given to players who want to be informed and they can browse at their will. I am also going to be linking this with the MoH and also getting some mass PMs out if I can perfect mass pming.

The ministry have released 9 articles so far and you can read all about them with the following three links!

Huey's MoHA Breakdown

Huey sums up many of the MoHA articles here, this is one of his roles as the MoHA this term. I won't sum up a sum up article, just go read!

External Gaming Overview

From the community we have built here in the eUK many sub communities have sprung up. We all like playing eRep together (most of the time!) so it is a natural progression for us to enjoy other games together too. Here is an article which starts a series looking into these sub groups.

MoHA Survey

The results of the first survey of our term is out. Thank you to everyone who participated in this, you can read all about the results here!

Ministry of Defence

My plan for the MoD this term was for an effective team who kept the orders up to date and ensured everything ran smoothly. It took a day to get the order PM up and running but that is to be expected with a new team. You include someone in a mass PM in this game unless the other person has accepted you as a friend so it takes a bit of time for all of the friendships between the MoD and Commanders, 2iC and Captains to be accepted.

I will be honest, orders have not been hard this term up to this point. Fighting against Germany was the most common order so now things will get a little harder but I am sure the MoD team are up to scratch.

I am happy at how the trio of the MoD are working together and how they are interacting with the dMoDs. So far all is going to plan. The competition did screw up a few things as we had to solely focus on that, but we did manage to do some experimenting with combat orders during the competition and also explored other ideas. Team Rocket was not thrown into effect as there really wasn't any point when the rockets didn't count at all! Look out for this coming soon.

Below are the none solely order related articles the MoD have released this term. There are some very good things to read there so please do give them a browse. Especially the last detailed on into #MoD and how to get there etc. Be sure to attempt to get yourself and your friends in #MoD so we can help effectively distribute damage!

Ministry of Foreign Affairs

I would tell you the aims of this Ministry myself but it has already been explained in a much better way than I could do. So, in the words of Jamesw:

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will, this month, be looking to bring through a new generation of players, with a simple but dynamic approach. Everything we do will be explained and debated with players. We won't just explain what is happening, or what we are doing, but also venturing into the forgotten territories of why and how.

The aim is not just to train apprentices this month (iGuy, Ash Brandon, Alphabethis and McAffee01 have applied so far), but also publicise and encourage discussions within and about the ministry, so that the population at large are kept in the loop. If you are interested in volunteering (which requires as little or as much of your time as you are willing to give), then drop either MoFA a line and they'll sort you out.

In short, this month will be about ensuring accountability, and transparency in the ministry. We are not just going to do our best for the UK, we'll explain what we think this is, how we will go about doing it, and most of all, why we feel and do what we do."

To date the MoFA have released three articles which will be listed below. They are always ensuring our national safety behind the scenes and in deep discussions with members of TWO HQ to ensure we know what the future holds.

It is safe to say the future is looking bright, especially with our excellent display in the recent competition.

MoFA Introduction

The MoFA discuss what they will be doing in the coming term. The above extract is from this article.

TWO and our Allies

Those interested in details on our allies, TWO and how all of this came to be should take a look here. It is a very detailed article that really should bring people up to speed, great work!

First Week Summary

In this article the MoFA discuss the first week of the term and everything that has happened. There is also the first piece from one of the dMoFAs which you should take a look at!

Personally I would like to take this opportunity to thank the MoFA team for their fast work with relation to the competition. It was my first day as CP and they helped make the transition smooth and helped produce this excellent war we have just had.

Ministry of Health

After Cotton was unable to continue her work from last term I had a lucky break. Zaphod had heard that she was not going to be continuing and offered his services for the role. I discussed my plans for the NHS with him and he was on board. The first target for the MoH was to ensure that the transition period went smoothly.

A few new faces were taken on to ensure that people did not miss out on their supplies. I can see first hand that every single NHS member has received food every day this term for everyday they have gained exp. I am very happy that there have been no blips like there were before Cotton took over.

I have now asked them to start on the next phase of my plan. Firstly, the NHS is publicly funded, I feel people should get the praise they deserve for helping the NHS run. I have asked for personal thank you messages to go to everyone that donates to the NHS as well as articles detailing who has given what with nice stats such as how many days that person funded someone in the NHS. This is nothing groundbreaking and something I think should have always been in effect.

I have also asked them to ramp up public knowledge of the NHS, get more articles out there letting new players know it exists a bit more. Make sure that everyone is aware.

Finally they will soon be issuing PMs to everyone in the NHS. This will be giving them access to guides and important articles on current events to keep those who really want to know, up to date. Again, I am not radically changing anything, just asking people to build on the service already given.

If anyone is interested in writing anything for the NHS or helping out, please send me or Zaphod a PM (probably better to get in touch with him 😃)

A bit of humour...

While it may seem a little odd that I am going to promote articles which can be seen as political and one that even takes a dig at myself I believe they are excellent for our community and should be seen by everyone. Please spare some time to take a look at these funny articles that I have seen popping up lately. Remember, they are meant in good humour and should not be seen as an attack!

Thank you eUK for your hard work over the past seven days. Thank you to everyone that tanked hard and those that helped out others with articles such as these:

I attempt to read every article in the media. Ranging from the spam voted article about the US MU all the way to the Liverpudlian getting some LFC news into the eWorld. I have noticed some good articles lately and these are only a few of them. Sadly due to the game mechanics of the media section I am only able to find these articles if I remember who wrote them (if they are older than 3 days!)

I will be discussing the aims I set out to reach before my CP term in my next article. How many have I hit? Will I miss out on a few?

Thank you for reading, or at least skimming to this section.

Cheers,

Carlini
