British Sue for Peace; Allied Forces Accept

In what seems to be reversed imitation of the rl War of 1812, a peace treaty is set to go into affect between the United Kingdom and United States. After the failed siege of London and other setbacks for EDEN, the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister for the United Kingdom once again sued for a ceasefire and peace treaty with the invading allied forces in exchange for withdrawal from the British isle. The leaders of the invading nations have agreed to the terms, and over the next week or so they will be withdrawing and proposing peace to their legislatures. Much to the chagrin of some voters in all of these countries--most vehemently in the United Kingdom, and most likely here in the United States--it seems likely that the politicians of these nations will agree to peace.

EDIT: As of publishing, President Frost has released a statement expressing his decision to accept peace with the United Kingdom. The American Joint Chiefs of Staff are in favor of peace as well, claiming they have always been opposed to the war and that former President Jewitt was pressured into invading by the public and by EDEN High Command (the high command has now resigned and been replaced).

The reasoning presented is that this war is really benefiting no one, when all of these nations have other tasks to look into. Specifically for the United States and the United Kingdom, the continued invasion of Britain is a drain on gold and firepower. British leaders have expressed interest in not losing all of their territories and being able to go help in the restoration of France. The United States has fallen under much criticism both abroad and internally for essentially ending the American Campaign for Asia Liberation, becoming essentially a scapegoat for Serbia's ascent to being a high iron-wielding nation with the capture and fortification of Liaoning. American interests are likely to turn there in an effort to once more come to China's aid, and the United States will continue to have open battles in the war between Greece and Turkey to partake in.

Arguments against declaring peace include that the United States should not "surrender" or "retreat" from the United Kingdom, that it's too fun of a campaign to quit, that the British should still pay for past actions, and that the United States should cancel every MPP and war that the British have for security reasons, forcing them to RW themselves back and pay for new MPPs.

A formal peace treaty with an in-game vote between both the United States and the United Kingdom would cancel the MPPs activated between the two warring nations, allowing for a return to the status quo between the nations and ending the threat of an MPP-backed invasion of North America.

In the wake of the failures of Day 818, essentially all of the leadership of EDEN has resigned and been replaced. In the political repercussions of this peace treaty, Dishmcds and Glados have fallen under heavy attack from their population. The British Minister of Defence, polio, resigned. What is more, GlaDOS has announced his own resignation and quitting of the game in response to the fallout from this treaty. With the political situation in the United Kingdom growing ever more tense, the political fallout--if any--has yet to be seen in the United States, but all early indicators are that the military leadership of the United States supports peace in order to stop wasting our gold and a large contingent of congress supports a peace treaty as well. The public will be releasing their sentiments over the next day or so.

Clarification for the Record: The United States is not bankrupt. The United Kingdom approached the leaders of the USA, Canada, Poland, Spain, and Norway, and after consulting with each other, those leaders decided that peace was in the best interests of all involved. Some people disagree. A peace treaty deactivates MPPs that are open in wars, but does not cancel that nation's MPPs like conquest would-- it just means that the UK still has MPPs, but can't invade us with them.

Entente Seeks Expansion; Asia Awaits Assistance
The public relations officer of the Entente Alliance has been on a public diplomacy blitz recently, pushing for conversations with leaders in Israel, South Korea, Singapore, Japan, and Malaysia to join nations like France, Italy, and Ukraine in this alliance. Rumors are also that Ireland is entertaining thoughts of joining. With the Entente's push towards Asian nations, particularly some already involved somewhat or fully with the Sol Alliance, a partnership is not a wildly out-there possibility. Both alliances tend to have the same goals in common-- defense against invasion, "neutrality" in the EDEN vs Phoenix war, and helping liberate occupied "neutral" countries. Just because of circumstance and geography, though, the Entente seems to be working in conjunction with some Phoenix goals in Europe, while Sol seems to be working in conjunction with some EDEN goals in Asia, though both remain independent of the alliances and reserve the right to be opposed to those alliances if they deem it necessary.

Meanwhile, in Asia, the situation remains dire. Hungary has fortified positions in Inner Mongolia and, their crown jewel, Heilongjiang. Serbia, the most populated member of Phoenix, has access to high iron now in their new fortress territory of Liaoning. The American-held fortress region of Karnataka is in an increasingly perilous position as Phoenix fortifies itself throughout Asia. The nations of Asia continue to look with interest at the affairs in Europe and, in particular, in the US-UK war, eagerly awaiting a day when firepower will once again be able to shifted to help support their endeavors.

Jewitt now has Hungarian citizenship.

The apocalypse is near.

Also, I'd like to draw your attention to this article by JeremyR about hospitals. Just because I know some people love hospital debating.

Editorial Section (As in, opinion- not news)
As a member of the United States Congress and on it's Foreign Relations Advisory Committee, and a long-time diplomat with the US Department of State, now serving as Undersecretary of State for Asia, Oceania, and Africa, I have fully supported President Frost's decision to have peace with the United Kingdom. It was fun while it lasted, but the United States simply does not have the gold to waste on a war that serves no real purpose other than, now, closing MPPs-- which a peace treaty shall do; the gold is better put to use elsewhere. Furthermore, as I have always proclaimed in this newspaper and in Congress since October, I firmly believe that the primary foreign policy objective of the United States should be the liberation of Heilongjiang from Hungary's hold, removing the crown jewel of the most powerful and dangerous empire in the game. Add to that stripping Serbia of Liaoning. The liberation of China is more important to the long-term interests of the United States, Asia, and their allies than any other foreign policy objective, and ought to be always followed.
Besides, our bros agree to peace with the Brits, and they're p cool. They used to be occupied by Britain, but know when it's time to move on.

My only criticism of peace is that we do not get ownership of Mr Woldy. This is disappointing.
