World in Flames: Day 926-927 - Pre Election Battles

Day 927, 21:47 Published in USA USA by Cecil Knight

Introducing Knight News: World in Flames - 9th edition
See World in Flames in Chinese! - (Yesterday's Article).

I'll say it here: I am human, I don't have inner access to the inner workings of either alliance, so I could be wrong. If I'm not sure what is going on, I usually preface it with the word “guess” or “i don't know.” Anyway the disclaimer is over.

Despite my personal affiliations, I try my best to keep my analysis as neutral and unbiased as I can.

I've spoken briefly with Mainegreen, and he's given me permission to use his symbol list. I figure it makes the maps a little easier to look at to know what's going on. Here's the symbol map with a few changes I like.

We will miss you Lieutenant Scheisskopf http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/riding-off-into-the-sunset-1398597/1/20. Stars and Stripes, his paper, is more or less this paper's daddy, while Mainegreen's (Through the Looking Glass) is more like my grandpappy

Also thanks to USA VP candidate ligtreb for mentioning me in his paper. http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/10-newspapers-to-subscribe-to-part-2-1398804/1/20

My last featured article, What Will Poland Do? Seemed to be pretty popular. I will try to have featured articles like that every now and then when I can think of a good story to write about. If you have any ideas, feel free to mail me. Also feel free to add me as a friend. I love friends, and you'll see me shout when I update my articles. 🙂

Important Battles of Day 926-927
Working 12 hour days this week releasing daily articles is just not possible without me wanting to strangle a puppy. Since I do like puppies and do not intentionally wish them ill will (unless they pee on my carpet), I will be releasing an article every other day unless time permits me greater frequency.

Bohus and Sorlandet RW (secured), RW in Syddanmark

A resistance war was started and failed in Polish occupied Bohus and Sorlandet. Both battles ended with the wall well above 500k. Now that Meckelenburg is back in German hands, if Poland loses it's colonies in Scandinavia it will be very difficult for them to establish their presence up there again. I imagine Poland hasn't forgotten the United Kingdom, but is content to take their time and strike when the enemy isn't expecting it, and perhaps after some of the UK's MPP's have lapsed.

In Denmark, a resistance war has started in German occupied Syddanmark. Denmark, for the most part, has maintained a neutral stance and doesn't care who owns their territory, as long as they stay out of their capital. Germany and Norway both control regions of the small erepublik state. In fact I believe Denmark prefers that some of their territory stays under foreign control, as that makes it harder for them to have a congressional PTO.

RW in Mindanao, Visayas, (both conquered)

China has been returning the Philippine territories back to their original owners, with Mandanao and their capital of Visayas. The only Philippine territory currently remaining in chinese control is Luzon, but I expect that will be resistance warred eventually.

Mexico returns to the map. RW in SE of Mexico and Pacific Coast of Mexico succeed

Mexico, currently under a presidentially approved occupation by Venezuela, has just returned to the map via two successful resistance wars. Mexico was occupied in an attempt to stop a successful congressional political takeover (PTO) from wiping out the country with laws that have ruined it's economy. While I initially said the PTOers were from Spain, the actual PTOers are somewhat unclear, although it is with nearly 100% certainty that the Phoenix leaning country was taken over by official or unofficial members of EDEN. The three countries I have seen mentioned are Spain, Poland, and Croatia.

Venezuela is unfortunately too small of a country to successfully stop resistance wars from returning Mexico to the map in time for the presidential elections. It would take a more powerful country, such as Canada, USA, or Brazil to have a chance of keeping Mexico completely occupied through the presidential elections. Unfortunately Brazil was too far to assist, impeded by lack of war with countries in between, and the USA has little love for Mexico, especially as many still remember what they believe to be a violation of the spirit of a non-aggression pact between them by allowing Columbia to land swap through their country and initiative block the USA when they were nearly entirely occupied during the height of WW3.

Finally, there was an Impeachment vote yesterday in Mexico likely by Mexican nationalists. An impeachment vote can only be cast once every seven days, so whoever gets elected in the upcoming elections will be able to stay. As the PTOed congress can impeach whoever they want, it is most likely nationalists who set up the vote, in the hope that their candidate wins the election, giving them an week of military control.

Pakistan returns to the map in Balochistan and Punjab Resistance War; India attacks North-West Frontier Providence, Iran

Just before presidential election, Pakistan returns to the map with the second resistance war in Balochistan succeeding. While I am not 100% positive, I'm pretty sure Pakistan's return will allow them to elect a Presidential candidate tomorrow.

Meanwhile India goes on the offensive against Iran. Iran, a former powerhouse, has lost much of it's power and prestige, but they are still not to be trifled with. The much smaller nation of India however has Australia signed on with them in an MPP, and the two nations combined have currently brought NWFP more than 100 below the wall.

Turkey attacks Tel Aviv Central and Nazareth North District; Greece enters the war attacking Tel Aviv and Mediterranean Coast of Turkey.

Turkey conquered Tel Aviv Central District and has attacked Nazareth.

Israel has been scrambling to pick up allies before it's two hospital regions, Jerusalem and Beersheba can be attacked. So far an MPP with Greece and Spain has been signed (with the USA MPP renewed). The MPP's have come too late to be valid against the battle of Nazareth, but will help if Turkey attacks again.

Fortunately for Israel, Turkey is unable to attack Israel again, as they have become initiative locked by Greece attacking Tel Aviv and their sovereign territory of the Mediterranean Coast of Turkey. Greece has triggered Turkey's MPP list with this action, adding I believe 2 countries to Turkey's already considerable 11 MPP in their active war. Greece is at the moment has better MPP protection than Israel, and they have added further to that with new MPP's signed with Finland, Greece, and Israel, so they will hopefully be able to withstand an attack into their sovereign territory even if Turkey attacks them. In the meantime, while Greece's attacks have virtually no chance of success, they do buy valuable time for the small nation of Israel to shore up it's defenses and build up it's MPPs.

Back to using tinypic. With a registered account it is not nearly as infuriating as it is without. Hopefully I won't hit a max picture limit with a free account. The biggest thing I will miss is that the links no longer have the name of the country in them, but that is a minimal loss. I am not pretty satisfied with out my attack arrows and icons look, and I think I will keep the style this way unless something better comes along. Of course if you have any suggestions you are welcome to leave comments or mail me directly.
