Riding off into the Sunset

Day 925, 15:01 Published in USA USA by Lieutenant Scheisskopf

This will come as a surprise to some, least of which, to my friends and colleagues in the eUS Airborne. It is unfortunate, but it is time for me to retire from eRepublik and move onto bigger things in real life (RL), as my RL responsibilities have increased and I find myself increasingly unable to attend to eRep. These past 11+ months (I joined 20 June 2009) have been fun, and it has been great to share my newspaper with-- at this moment-- 5,275 subscribers, sitting among the top 35 newspapers in the New World. I have considered myself honored that so many people thought I was worth knowing or worth seeking for information, and am appreciative for everyone's support as I wrote for most of my time in this game. I leave feeling very accomplished in my writing, my military career, and my contributions to the eUS; very content in my longevity here; and very grateful for the fun memories I shared with so many of you.

Thank you to everyone in the eUS military, eUS politics (those who I have interacted with, anyways), and to all the well-meaning citizens worldwide who made playing this game fun for so long. I am not going to name specific citizens given the number of those who have impacted my eLife, and do not want to offend anyone who was omitted. Even though we may have our differences and animosities, in RL as well as in-game, I am glad that we have had civil exchanges of ideas and differences in my newspaper or on the various forums and channels, and hope that players on both EDEN and Phoenix will continue to be respectful adversaries long after I am gone. Of everything I have done in this game, getting to talk with so many people from so many backgrounds has been a real blessing and is something which all citizens in this game should welcome. At the very least, getting to know people from other RL countries in this game will help to dispel the nasty stereotypes which may pervade public opinion outside of eRepublik.

As far as newspapers go, it is great to see Aeros and Desertfalcon both writing again. I would also like to recommend the Knightly World News, a great up-and-coming newspaper, for your future war updates. If I do return again someday, you will hear it here first; if I do not, it has truly been fun and I thank you all.

I will log in for 2-3 more days to answer PMs, but hope to be able to slowly eDie in peace. My eRep weapons will be returned to the eUS Airborne, and my eRep assets will be given to the citizen who has been my best eAmigo. May you all do well and prosper in game, and in RL.

God Bless,

Lt. Scheisskopf
