London Calling - The Presidential Elections.

Day 591, 07:59 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Mr Woldy

First off, please take the time to read the MoW's most recent article, here.

The 5th

The 5th of each month see’s a new presidential election. I feel Kumnaa has led a great term. I do feel however, that the resignation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs was pretty bad, contrary to common opinion, glorious failure did do a pretty good job, and credit has to be given to him because he kept the HoC incredibly well informed.

With the elections approaching, please check the Beginner’s guide to the presidential elections.
Guide to the Presidential Elections.

The main Candidates

Dishmcds – Has been President 5 times before in the UK, US, and Mexico. He has served in many ministries and is currently a member of congress.

Hassan Pesaran – Has been the vice president twice, Minister of Finance, Minister of defence, Minister of Information, and he was the supreme commander of Atlantis. He is currently the Minister of Defence and Foreign affairs.

Party Allignments

So which parties are supporting which candidates?

Dishmcds – UKRP, BEP
Hassan Pesaran – TUP, PCP, MDU, UK Solidarity Party.
Flamur – RFA, Vanguard, UK Ba’ath Party.

Dishmcds

As previously mentioned, Dish has been president of a few countries before. Here in the UK, he has been the Minister of Trade twice, and country president twice. Abroad he has served as Minister of Defence and vice president. Until recently he was a lord, but this was suspended when he re-entered congress.

So, he’s experienced in the military, trade, and leadership positions. He has ran successful businesses, but doesn’t have any radical financial policies. He plans to make minor changes to economic ministry’s, but large reform throughout the Ministry of Defence and military.

Overall it can be said that Dish is an experienced player, his manifesto can be found here; ”What would Dish do?” Remember to read his following articles, detailing his policies.

Hassan Pesaran

Although Hassan hasn’t been Prime Minister before, he has held an abundance of positions that more than compensates. To name a few;

TUP party president twice,
UK's Minister of Finance
UK's Minister of Defence twice,
UK's Minister of Information twice,
The Vice President twice,
The Royal Navy's Commanding Officer,
The Supreme Commander of Atlantis.

So we can derive that Hassan knows a fair bit about the economy, military, and being the Commander of an Alliance is no easy task, so he is no stranger to leadership. He plans radical reform of the economy, and reform of the military.

Hassan is another experienced player, his manifesto is here; ”Hassan, it’s bigger than your life”. Remember to read through his following articles, detailing his policies.

Flamur

Flamur also hasn’t been Prime Minister before but has held the following positions;

Para CO, Elite, Elite CO, Lord, Congressmen, Party President and most recently uMoFA.

So very much a military man, but also a good contributor to commons and the Ministry of Foreign affairs. Although a great candidate, Flamur is being somewhat shadowed by the impressive credentials of his competitors.

Flamers’ manifesto can be found here; ”Flamur for President!”

Conclusion

A varied, and very well qualified selection to choose from this time. Remember to read through the candidates manifestos, and put a good amount of thought into who you want to be leading your country. You may find the decision hard, you may find it easy.

Voting takes place on Sunday and will begin at 8am. If you don’t like any of the candidates, just choose who you think is best, don’t abstain from voting as it gains you experience.
