Japan Launches Assault as Bulgaria Returns to the Map, Days 907-909

Day 908, 17:26 Published in USA USA by Lieutenant Scheisskopf

Military action in the New World through Days 906-908 has been mostly subdued and isolated incidents, as governments worldwide looked internally to prevent political takeovers (PTO) in party elections. Some of these isolated military maneuvers could have a more lasting impact on future campaigns, however. EDEN continues their efforts in Eastern Europe while eJapan reinvigorated its attack on the Korean Peninsula, moving against eSouth Korea.

eJapan’s newest offensive enlarged the country’s foothold on
the Korean Peninsula, putting eSK’s capital under fire on Day 909

Japan Launches Heavy Assault on South Korea
Although eJapan’s war with eSouth Korea has been active since Day 898, the heaviest fighting commenced on Day 907 as eJapan staged a three-prong offensive on Chungcheongbuk-do, Chungcheongnam-do, and Gyeongsangnam-do in the closing minutes before server reset. None of the regions themselves are particularly valuable, highly populated, or heavily defended, but eJapan’s victories in the first two enabled the Brolliance member to challenge eSK’s capital region of Gyeonggi-do once they fell, with a strike on the capital as well as Jeollanam-do. Consequently, eJapan could effectively conquer eSK and cripple its ability to fight by the close of these battles if all goes successfully for the attackers. As a member of the Brolliance, eJapan enjoyed some EDEN support in the latest attacks, as well. On the other side, resistance from eSK and its own international supporters has been steady, but will need to increase to save eSK from conquest.

Serbia Intervenes in Bulgaria, Conquers and Returns Regions
As was noted in a previous article, eRomania’s successful offensive against eBulgaria at Sofia on Day 905 gave the eRomanians a border with eSerbia, which the Phoenix power quickly used to its advantage by attacking Sofia once it was eRomanian-occupied. This enabled eSerbia to go on the offensive without activating eRomanian mutual protection pacts (MPPs), and began the recovery for eBulgaria; however, as eSerbia sought to recover eBulgaria, it had to conquer all the remaining regions so eRomania could not. This net effect culminated in the elimination of all eBulgaria’s 11 activated MPPs against eRomania and gave the EDEN power a slightly safer neighborhood for the foreseeable future, as eRomania now has one less menacing front to worry about.

eSerbia’s intervention eliminated eBulgaria from the map and erased its
MPPs, but RW’s (circled) are quickly returning the regions back to their Phoenix ally

eSerbia continued to take eRomanian-occupied regions and advanced on remaining eBulgarian territories before beginning to relinquish control on Day 907, with arranged resistance wars (RW) in Sofia returning the eBulgarian capital, as well as other regions including Plovdiv, Burgas, Ruse, and Vidin. By Day 909, eBulgaria will be recovering the network of MPPs which were lost after being initially conquered, which was eRomania's main purpose for invading and bordering eSerbia. To conquer the whole country would have been an expensive proposal, but eRomania did not have to completely exhaust its budget because eSerbia conquered eBulgaria for them, so that eBulgaria would not fall to EDEN, and is now holding northern Bulgarian regions as a buffer zone while eBulgaria rebuilds its MPPs.

Romania Attacks Moldova, Invites Ukrainian Counterattack
Day 907 saw an obscure attack as eRomania overran Southern Bessarabia; minutes later, however, eUkraine launched an unsuccessful counterattack on the same region, hoping to remove the EDEN power from its border. It seems from eRomanian press that the motivating factor has been the deteriorating eRomanian-eUkrainian relations as eUkraine recently elected an eRussian-friendly government. There are accusations of political takeover (PTO), but I do not know the situation well and am reserving judgement for now. Regardless, if eRomania wants to remove an entrenched eRussian government, military action would be their quickest option. However, doing so could exacerbate EDEN-Entente relations, the alliance to which eUkraine belongs, and push the Phoenix-leaning alliance further away. Time will tell how this muddied politico-military conflict will play out.

With Delaware returned to the eUS, eRepublik geography limits eFrance to being
able to attack only one eCanadian region, the native Nova Scotia

Delaware Liberated from Canadian Occupation Title of this section is for lulz...
In a move which may confuse younger players, Delaware was won in a resistance war on Day 908, returning the real life (RL) United States’ first state to the eUS after months under eCanadian stewardship. Months ago, the eUS gave Delaware to eCanada in order to prevent eUK invasions of the eUS, since attacking any region bordering eCanada or eCanadian-occupied Delaware would open a war between the eUK and eCanadians. With this threat long gone, and a war with MPP-laden eFrance, eCanada would be exposed at Delaware without any activated MPPs were the eFrench resolute in attacking there. The return of the region to the eUS limits eFrance’s possible attack options now to regions which are protected by MPP, and gives eCanada more time to attempt a diplomatic solution, as Myles Robinson reported.

eCroatia and eHungary are now continuing diplomacy by other means once more

Renewed Attacks Against Hungary
Following a couple days of peace, eCroatia resumed attacks on eHungary, pushing Southern Transdanubia’s wall solidly into the underground in the early going and protecting itself from blockers by also attacking eSlovenia’s Carinthia region which is naturally a part of eAustria. With eRomania’s focus pulled away from eBulgaria, it will be interesting to see if the eRomanians reopen their own front on the eHungarians. Previously, their attacks were staggered at 12 hours apart from eCroatia’s offensives, so we could see a new battle open from eRomania in the next few hours. Nevertheless, eCroatia’s 13 MPPs are the most plausible option for EDEN to try and eliminate the massive eHungary with its 19MPPs; if eCroatia were to get any traction in this campaign, we may see Phoenix attempt to establish blocker battles as they have done in the past.

Wrapping Up
Unfortunately, no one major front is dominating the New World’s military headlines, which tends to better captivate audiences and attracts greater attention overall. This could change in the coming days, as there are a number of fronts which have interesting developments underway and could give way to something major, now that party elections have passed and countries concerned about PTOs can focus on other affairs for now. The eUSA, for its part, ousted a known PTO engineer from the former Republican Party in a government-sponsored anti-PTO effort. Maybe now, one or more of these battles may be worth monitoring in the mean time, to find where that next military spark will be-- although it is entirely possible that the next spark may take everyone by surprise.

God Bless America,
