Resistance War in Gyeongsangbuk-do

The Resistance War is lost, but this should not be viewed as our defeat.

No, I had promised the South Koreans 100,000 damage from the Internationale and we succeed in reaching our target 102,880. I must take some personal responsibility for not liberating the region. Mistakes were made. Many militias did not find out in time to deploy, notably the Spanish and Russian militias, who had no time in which to get orders out to their members.

All things considered we did a great job and I am proud of the amount of damage we were able to do. Next time we will make sure you are all ready.

Special thanks to the mercenaries who helped out especially Laya who spent a lot of her own gold as well as the gold that was provided. Thanks also go to Arjay Phoenician who did his best to coordinate the South Koreans. Also thanks to JaFeKo and the SFP Commune who supplied Weapons and Tickets to various militias.

And of course the most important people of all: the brave workers who fought against the imperialists.

Capital

The key is the means of production. In the game, these are clearly identifiable as gold - the game's equivalent of capital. I would posit that there are several factors leading to the exploitation of the workers that we see ingame:

1. Shortage of invested capital
2. Ideal employee number

Both of these factors have huge effects, so it's time to take a look at both in more detail.


1. Shortage of invested capital

This one's the real kicker. Capital in the game comes through a steady stream, but much of it is lost. The thing is, capital in the game also has a use-value - a very different situation from real life. Due to this, there is a constant consumption of capital - lana-ing, adverts and tanking all contribute to this. But the really, really huge drain on gold is from government actions - MPPs, opening wars, starting battles - MPPs being the major factor.

This massive outflow of gold serves in part to prevent the huge inflow of gold from creating extremely fierce competition in the capitalist market, thus reducing the rate of exploitation.

In keeping with capitalism - capital only being spent on companies to the extent that there is private gain, we can expect several things.

1. Capital consumption will increase as its value relative to ingame commodities decreases
2. Capital's value is defined as a combination of its use-value and its value as an agent of exploitation
3. Capital's value as an agent of exploitation is determined by the amount already invested into a system, and the size of said system with regards to capital demand.

What does this mean? Simply put, the amount to which invested capital will decrease the rate of exploitation through competition is limited by its use-value. As the amount of money you can squeeze out of workers decreases, less people will spend their gold to glean an ever-decreasing profit margin when they could consume the gold themselves, and have a higher net gain that way (over a finite time period). Imperfect information, e.t.c. is not included; we are assuming people know exactly what's best for them in this case.

Basically, under capitalism, exploitation can never be done away with as long as people are acting in what would seem to be their own interests - notwithstanding that, as I have explained in this article, personal interest is in fact a proxy for national interest.

But if that's the case, why do people keep investing gold in companies? Why haven't we yet reached the stage where the rate of exploitation is low enough to deter most investments?

Growth, of course. The new world is constantly taking in new citizens, creating new demand for capital to be invested into the economy in order to employ more workers. Added to this, since many companies are org-owned, when the owning citizen died, that gold is simply wasted, creating fresh demand for more gold injections. Loss of capital, and expansion of the capacity for exploitation, keep the investments coming.

The ideal employee number also has an effect, in addition to the (more important) previous problems. The ideal employee number puts a cap on the amount of competition allowed in the market - you can only have so many active companies before one of them suffers a productivity loss due to an undesirable employee number. It's just another nail in the coffin really, but it helps to again reduce the effects of inter-capitalist competition on reducing exploitation.


The solution

Personal interest, as we would understand it, is far, far less important than most people think. Given that fact, a group of people must set aside its false promises and work to acquire capital, and run companies without exploitation of the workers. The 'victory' of conquering the world as part of a nation is replaced for these people with liberating the economy as part of a federation. They ignore personal interest, and work to acquire as much capital as possible. They aim to reduce exploitation, consequently also reducing the value of capital in relation to commodities, and trade for more capital by trading in their useless 'use-values'. They apply propaganda, by word and by deed, to recruit more people to the cause and change the game.

They do this and more, until they have brought an entire economy free from exploitation.


At the moment, the bodies doing this work are the Communist and radical socialist parties worldwide.

The association is constitutionally based and run via a democratic process. The highest authority in the Internationale is the Congress, which includes representatives from far-left parties around the world. Each party has one vote. Member-parties appoint a representative to the Internationale Congress, which in turn elects a Chair each month, who also has a vote.

Human Resources Department: Welcome new members and allow them to post in the forum; teach new members about how the Internationale works; keep a live list of current members
Media and Publicity Department: Make the news and actions of the Internationale widespread
Fund-Raising Department: Manage the accounts of the Internationale

...as well as the following committees and working groups:

Central Planning Committee: Act in an advisory position to the Internationale Congress, provides leadership and direction to the Congress
Security Council: Moderate the forum and expose counter-revolutionaries
Internationale Trade: Assist in supporting inter-communal trade
Internationale Military Committee: Develop a military wing of the Internationale; coordinate common actions of leftist militias

The Internationale forum also hosts a great collection of theoretical and historical articles dealing with various aspects of e-socialism.
