And here we are at it again, I'm getting almost semi active now!

So let's get down to the core of this article, which will talk about the event that changed our life, the coming of Erepublik ''Rising'' V2.

Before we go any further, I'd like to set a little timeline for what happened. The switch for V2 happened on day 960 Which was about mid term into the month of July. Two president will be covered, the second and final term of Dade Pendwyn, and first term of Acacia Mason, the first Canadian president elected after the turn over. During this ectic period, a lot of adaptation has been necessary, along with the multitude of function that were sketchy at first when we entered Rising. But everyone knew it would be like this.


''It's Erepublik Rising, RUN!!!''

For most of us, changing over Rising was a frightening idea, and for a good deal of reasons. It was the unknown, and erepublik as a whole, was doing great without the admins changing too much things. But there was also some great prospect for the future of certain countries and especially Canada.

With V2 came the notion that Canada would be one of the very few producers of Titanium, the ressource needed for the production of Helicopters and Artillery. More importantly, this ressource was extremely rare in ''HIGH'' amount in one region amongst EDEN country. While Phoenix country would be swamped with Indonesia, Brazil,Russia and Serbia, only Canada and Australia would be producing the precious ressource on our side. On top of this, not only did we had the ressources, we had two region that could boost our economy, Nunavut and NWT. However, knowing that having double the ressource does not give you any benefit aside from the company themselves that are there, it makes the renting a bit more attractive.

A few country came with talks of rental, amongst these were Poland, Spain and naturally, the US. Poland made the most generous offer, while the amount offered varied, one offer was nearing 3000 Gold per month! All this could have been invested in the community. But money was not the only concern, as the US had bailed us out of trouble a few months ago. It was only fitting that they would be considered as the premium trading partner. Back then renting was very popular, The US had already rented Karnatake from India and several others had done the same. Something that has never seen the end of the project as well. At one point, there has been substantial talk about Bringing Finland into Canada to acquire Wood, this way they would get a fortress away from russia and wood production. This deal never got past the blueprint stage however given the complexity of the plan.



But unlike the last trade attempt, the US-Canada Rental agreement on NWT was very real. It went to lenghty discussion in Congress. Some saying yes, other saying nay. The driving opposition force behind this was the DAL and other conservative Party. I will admit that I was a strong proponent of the Rental agreement at the time. And like me, several other progressive player (like Addy Lawrence article to Dade Penwyn) urged the government to participate in this economic opportunity. Seeing as how this was a dividing issue, President Dade Penwyn, with the help of Sperry and Stephanos, organised a massive Referendum on the issue. Ultimately, it was rejected by the Canadian masses and we would never again be offered such an offer.

I could, but I never felt terribly strong about it. I was in favor, because of the boom we experienced from PEACE occupation. In those days companies were built in regions and stayed in those regions, so if Americans built hundreds of companies and the region was returned to us (it was inevitable some day) we would experience a similar boom due to the new
companies but, never felt strongly about it, so the result got a but "meh" from me 😛 .

This debate raged on before, and shortly into V2. But many other things did happen while all this went on, like the FREE TEMUJINBC campaign. This campaign, centered around the rehabilitation of Temujinbc went on for quite a while. Until finally due to vast petition and a loud presence in the media, Temujinbc was given a presidential pardon by Dade Pendwyn. It was then approved by congress and Temujinbc has been able to comeback to the eCan Forum following the proper accreditation. I don't think anyone could question that this was in fact, a good move for Canada as we can see it today.

Internationaly, Eden was on the downside in numerous critical battle, like the complete destruction of Croatia just before the congressional election. This maneuver made their citizenship open, allowing anyone who travelled to croatia to vote for whoever they wanted. This challenge was of great importance because of the Serbian menace lurking around, with their sheer population, and the combined population of the Phoenix force. Thus was organised the most extensive ATO ever seen in EDEN and in Canada, in total, more than 1000 foreign voters moved abroad to help. Amongts these numbers was an impressive 150 Canadian expedition. I was the one that led this ATO and it was impressive to see the response from the public, CAFer, TCOer and civilians we're rushing out to help our Eden ally. In the end, we we're succesfull, and Croatia really was impressed with the numbers we have been able to gather (considering we we're and are still one of the smaller player in Eden). With this moral victory, came some hope that we could turn the tide and start winning some war agaisnt the impressive War Machine that Phoenix had turned into. And maybe this V2 military module could offer us some different perspective.



Back to V2, a lot of people wrotte on the subject, and it would be quite hard to go too deep in the subject without losing a lot of readers. This is why I would like to direct you to a few external source of information, like an article from KronosQ summarizing V2 and the article from the admins annoucing the avent of Rising. But to make it a short story, it was a revolution both in the economic and military module. For the economy it meant different use for hospitals, new ressources, as well as new product (4 different type of weapon instead of 1). And in the military aspect, it had turned into a massive turn based module that would focus on control at the end of a battle. It was necessary to capture the capital and a number of tile in order to win the battle once the counter would reach 0. The novelty of such a thing was that people actually go head to head with other soldier on the battlefield. This system however greatly favored the biggest hitter and left a lot of ''weaker'' soldier on their appetite as their capabilities was limited and not oftenly could they envision an happy ending.




But this military module didn't only had some shortcomings, as we found out, if carefully used, it could become a great opportunity for the most organised of us, as they would be able to set up on the battle field with efficiency, and taking out target with their strenght. I'm talking here notably about TCO involvement during our first V2 war, the first invasion of England. It can be argued that TCO really became a dominant force with the impressive showing they made there. I can say that were it not for TCO effeciency on the battlefield, we would probably have not won these battles so much they were dominant during the V2 stretch.



I think a big part of our success was the activity levels of our core group, and the fact we had members throughout the world coming together to fight. Dycey Farley has to take most of the credit for being a a true Goddess of War. With her leadership, and the likes of JRC, Homer J Simpson, Duke of Bruno, Damian Wolf, and many others piled into Teamspeak, we were able to coordinate troop movement quite well. V2 was really the start of what we now refer to as "goldbeasting", as those with gold to burn could stay on the V2 battlefield longer and do more damage. Several of us were willing to invest vast sums of money to help other members stay in the fight. The V2 battlefield required strategy, timing, and coordination. Our group had spent so much time together chatting prior to this, it was only natural that we would find success with this module.

This whole invasion went on during the mandate of President Acacia Mason, who famously became known for the famous catch phrase, ''Acacia the button!''. Which would mean to press the attack button on the president option page. Acacia would later on develop a fondness for everything that is british! Kidding aside, numerous articles at the time we're produced by acacia and during severals subsequent UK invasions taunting the british to attack or respond to our attacks. Also it to be noted that one of the greatest achievement made by President Acacia Mason is greater communication between civilians and different military organisation. The economy went relatively well despite the avent of V2, namely with funding injection in various industries in order to stimulate the economy. Althought there has been shortcomings in the Foreign affair department with some of our allies, nothing too damageable however.

V2 however had not only positive outcome such as the emergence of TCO as a major military power, but also the departure of closely half the world population. A genocide that can be attributed to the admins or the headless chickens? No one will ever know for sure what motivated everyone to quit, but needless to say that V2 made a lot more player quit than join. This is why eventually we came to revert many of the change from V2. From there, it is arguable that Canada would never recover fully from this blow and return to it's former glory. Althought this can be said about MANY countries around the world as well.
