To Ireland; regarding Alliances.
Mr Woldy
Ireland
For as long as I can recall, the eUK and eIreland have been great friends. On a personal level, I used to follow the Irish elections on the 5th, 15th, and 25th just to see if anyone I was familiar with was being voted into office.
The relationship our ecountries share is somewhat unique, a flourishing friendship on a national level mimicked between the citizens of our countries. I'd say with confidence that citizens using IRC and who visit #Ireland or #eUK are going to have made pals with people from both of our countries. This is, afterall a social strategy game, and between eIreland and the eUK, the social aspect of it has shown prominence.
Eden
When the word alliance is mentioned in eRepublik, two things come to mind; Phoenix, and it's best pal Eden. Recently, Dubhthaigh past MoF for Ireland, and a member of Dail has began a poll to get a grasp of the public's attitude towards joining Eden, which you can read here.
He lists the Pro's and Con's as being;
Pros:
- Excitement in the form of future wars.
- Sense of belonging and purpose.
- End of neutrality and potential boost to the economy.
- Protection from the largest alliance in the world.
Cons:
- Alienation of old friends.
- Risk of invasion and hostilities.
- End of neutrality.
- Small country in a big alliance.
Being in an alliance does open a new aspect to the game. Due to people's natural instincts, small alliances wouldn't co-exist in the new world for very long, meaning that we often see dominating super alliances come and go. Taking part in wars across the world and having spats with each other as they go.
I'm not here to preach to you my feelings on the situation surrounding eIreland's alliance choices, nor am I here to try and influence your decision, wether it be to stay neutral, join Eden, or otherwise. However, I am here to say;
Whichever international stance you decide to take in the eWorld, be it with Eden, be it Neutral, You will always be our friends. As such, even if in competition, we see no need to worsen our great relations or take military action against your nation.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.

... Arrgh!
All these articles from the British saying how we'll always be friends and how they love us make me want to give up on the Northern Irish march, throw away my hiking boots, and eat some crumpets. Why, why must you make me feel bad 😨
*ping* Ahh, there's the toaster. Time to butter some crumpets 🙂
Eden!!!!
<3 woldy
crumpets lol.
the cool kids eat scones >.>
If Ireland and the UK are such good friends why not just give Northern Ireland to Ireland? reunite a country that should be united in RL.
That would be a true show of friendship
Ireland, we love you
Quiet? Feck it!
Kick the redcoats out of Northern Ireland!
@ John Thunscorpe
If you love Ireland so much give them back the top part of their country. Why is that so out of the question?
Friends forever.
Erin go bragh!!
I think the referendum has a leading question, it was not a neutral question if you excuse the pun.
personally, if we go for alliances, i think we should have an alliance with eUK and thus i guess all of phoneix, if it means so much to people to get into a war as a nation. Part of the alliance deal should be we get N.Ireland to keep all the RL united ireland peeps happy, then they won't have anymore reason to bitch about eUK
If we fight on behalf of ePoland and eSpain, there is no doubt we give up our proud tradition of anti imperial stance, and i think you will lose citizens to the eUK. certainly i will not attack eUK on their behalf.
if we remain neutral, we should mobilse our troops to get invovled in liberating france, germany and other occupied countries, within europe with the view to making some kind of new alignment, a 3rd group of nations who will field an anti imperial force be it just for resistance wars, (or more? very risky) and some form of trade agreement to help support such a force and the economies of the countries to maximise production and lower costs of necessary goods for such activities?
ah stick it up yer queen's arse.
Taking the argument out of RL for a moment-why would eUK need to give up a territory that is originally theirs in the game, in order to prove our friendship with eRoI? To me, the Unification people in this game are taking RL issues, and trying to supplant them into eRepublik, which is generally seen as a bad idea. And lets face it, IF the eUK did give Northern Ireland to eRoI, you know that someone will very quickly RW it, and pretty soon, it will be back in eUK hands anyway. Potentially, that cycle could continue ad infinitum, even with the best will of both governments.
I think the eIrish should take our friendship as a given, and be thankful that eUK has moderate voices, like Woldy's, that would counsel against an Irish invasion if they allied with EDEN.
I agree with all that Woldy says; if the eRoI allies with EDEN, then all power to them, hope it works well.
Seriously e-UK, why not give us Northern Ireland back as a symbol of our enduring friendship. I think that would be a powerful gesture!
Sounds like a joke??
Well, so does "We love you Ireland." Return the North please.
Is NI so important that you can't give it up. I think we should be given it if we sign a long and enduring alliance with eUK. And if you don't give it to us.....we should still sign a alliance with you anyway.lol

@Jacen
I think those who actually know how to start a resistance war will know that NI belongs to us through treaty. And then, if some moron does start an RW, the only UK fighting will be:-
NI Loyalists
People with no idea about whats going on
And they'll be up against every Irishman that has fights left for that day. Hell, maybe a few UK will come over to fight in our defence.
P.S. What turd would spend 50 Gold minimum to get NI back from us if we get it through treaty?
On the RL point
I completely agree and this is a game If eIreland tried to take NI by force that would be because of RL issues so RL is unavoidable.
This is a game where any citizen who would not have the chance in RL to change major issues that should be changed has the chance to make a difference. How many English really care about keeping NI where as it would make a huge difference to eIreland and RL Irish players.
on the point of eUK losing a region
Well I think a deal could be made where eIreland attacks one of your enemies and a region swap could be made.
Also consider that it would improve eUK's reputation World Wide. Especially with USa

We're friends with the British? Really?
Did they finally leave North Ireland?
