National Referendum/Poll: Join Eden or not?

Day 793, 13:23 Published in Ireland Ireland by Dubhthaigh

As an elected Teachtá Dála for Cork and Kerry, I hereby call a national referendum/poll, as required by the Eden treaty, to ascertain whether the Irish people wish to join the alliance.

The Eden Treaty: Conditions of Joining:
1.0.4. Conduct a public referendum either via media article or forum about joining EDEN which meets over 66% approval from the general population.
1.0.5. Conduct a voting in congress which meets a minimum 66% approval from the nation's congress members applying their right to vote. [If out of 40 congressmen only 36 vote on the matter that number is considered 100%].

The Treaty Itself: http://wiki.erepublik.com/index.php/Contract:Treaty_of_the_Brotherhood_of_EDEN

Brief Description of Pros and Cons:

Pros:
- Excitement in the form of future wars.
- Sense of belonging and purpose.
- End of neutrality and potential boost to the economy.
- Protection from the largest alliance in the world.

Cons:
- Alienation of old friends.
- Risk of invasion and hostilities.
- End of neutrality.
- Small country in a big alliance.

How to vote?
- If you are an Irish citizen, please post 'Yes [to joining Eden] or No [to joining Eden] in a comment at the bottom of this page. Your country needs your vote! Remember to vote in the best interest of the country and yourselves as citizens - that is what these votes are for: to gauge what the public really wants.

An identical vote is currently being conducted by Congress.

Voting Perio😛

There is no official guideline to this, so I will just have to do the best I can and follow general Dáil practice. Therefore, I believe the vote should commence for 96 hour from now: 13:30 ER time, day 793.

Kind Regards, Dubhthaigh.
