Re: Re: Imperialism: Part 1: Part 1

Day 803, 20:54 Published in USA Austria by Alex Lorre

Wow, first article in a while. Let's see if this brain still works. *Dusts off the cobwebs* Okay let's give this a shot.

First of all, this article is in response to another article from Joe Newton that itself was in response to an article on the eUSA's past acts of imperialism and the consequences of it written by one CivilAnarchy. Hence my title. Clever isn't it? So I recommend reading those first so that this will make sense.

What I am going to focus on in this article is Joe's somewhat... unorthodox view of history and global politics since these things are important for any PotUS hopeful to grasp.

First of all let me give the full context of his argument and not twist his words. Joe claims that the reason we were almost wiped off the map was "because we didn't finish the job!" and states that if we had simply declared peace with Russia, France, and Portugal or PTOd them and forcibly declared peace with ourselves after our failed invasions then we would not have had to worry about them coming back to invade us in return.

However Mr. Newton is ignoring quite generally known history while making these claims. Neither Portugal nor France were known at the time as a powerhouse and yet after invading them we were beaten back with the help of their MPPs. Who in their right minds defends their country and then declares peace with their aggressors? Did the US do this after we beat PEACE out of North America? No we started a whole new world war! Furthermore how were we going to PTO a PEACE country at a time when a) our superior population wasn't organized enough to win a war let alone a PTO and b) PEACE was famous for their PTO and antiPTO organization skills, thus making it EVEN HARDER for us to PTO either one of those countries.

Russia however was even then a rising power and when we attacked them we had many allies on our side just as they did on theirs. That battle for Far Eastern Russia was the epitome of WWII. It was the biggest battle yet fought and caused all sorts of trouble for the servers, enough to force admin intervention adding points to the battle days after it was over. Both alliances threw everything they had into that battle and PEACE won.

Now with France and Portugal it was just a minor thing even at the time so if anyone was going to accept peace with us it was one of them. Russia however, with the help of 8 allies, took on the brunt of a full alliance of the United States and 19 allies and won! Why if France and Portugal refused to grant peace with us would Russia now do so? It just amazes me that anyone, especially someone hoping to be the President, could think that this was some simple miscalculation on the part of the eUSA.

If these discrepancies in thought are not enough, stay tuned for my next article which will be more focused on the arguments made by Joey and most other pro-imperialists for the pros of in game imperialism and my attempt to deconstruct them for the baseless fallacies that they are.
