America,



I have decided to throw my hat in the ring. I am running for President of the United States. I didn't make this decision lightly, and have thought about it for a long time (usually the hours upon hours I put into eRepublik). The Main Reason I want to run is to push the United States towards more greatness through the ideas I have; which will be built upon the success of those who have preceded me in the honorable position of President. America is in the position to have an even greater influence upon the World Stage, and I would like to see that happen.

War-What Drives the eWorld


A month ago our economy was booming wonderfully. We had high oil, high grain, high wood. The only truly important thing we lacked was High Iron. Fast forward to today, and we have high iron, but our economy is dragging. Why is that? It's quite simple. Grain is fueled by people needing to eat. Oil is fueled by people needing to move around the eWorld. But Iron is fueled by guns. And when do people buy guns? When there is war. War makes this eWorld go around. It makes nations richer, in both money and people. If you are on the good end of it, anyway.

When Japan bombed Pearl Harbor in WWII, as the Commander of the attack was leaving he sai😛 "I fear we have just awoken a sleeping giant." Here in eRepublik, we had the same kind of event. We were invaded by many enemies, and repulsed them all. This woke us up. We then went forth and freed much of China and India! But now, we have stalled. We are afraid to move forward. As a result, most of our 500 people who join the game everyday, quit because they are bored. Any other country would kill for that kind of influx!

Activity and Retention

On the front page of eRepublik, it says we have 26,000 citizens. That figure is way, way off. We have about 6,000 active citizens. Some people say less. This is intolerable. Why are they leaving? The answer is simple. Boredom and Confusion. We have the confusion part taken care of relatively well, with Meals on Wheels and the Welcoming Committee. But boredom. What do you do in eRepublik? You click "work", "train" and "fight". But what about when there is no war, no enemy to fight? People then get bored. Lets focus on how to get more players first.


My favorite solution to getting more players is facebook. Syrup made a thread, which I would link to if eRep wasn't being mean to me. It's a Facebook group that will be used to get more players! Instead of using our RL money on eRep, how about on Facebook ads? Google ads? That makes sense. You can either tank for a day with that money, or "teach another player how to play the game" and double your impact on the eWorld forever. Another thing we should do is shamelessly promote the IRC, and eUS Forums, amongst other eUS organizations to the young kids!

As for the boredom problem, George Patton said, "Americans love to fight, traditionally. All real Americans love the sting and clash of battle." When those battles are suddenly gone, people notice. And war games don't cut it. We want a penguin bowling real fight. That will keep more players! A good way to keep players active is to have them join the Military.

Military


The Military is a key part to keeping players active. But to do that, people have to know about it. I support the Military's papers that are starting to pop up, and Lt. Poohead mentioning the Airborne at the end of all of his articles. I'd like to see more of that. The Military has been doing a great job. I've been in the TC, Army and Airborne and they all operate extremely well. The promotion by merit system is extremely effective.

The only thing I can see that would make the Military even more effective, is more funding. And, and touched upon above, you will get more money by going to war more because people buy guns, and that money goes to the Government and to Tanks, and the citizen wall. One thing that has to be remembered though: Don't fight a battle if you don't gain anything by winning.

The UK Conflict


The UK has been naughty. We all know why, so I won't go into that. (if you don't know, look at that link!) EDEN has decided to punish the UK. This is just. But wait. So far, the nation that has talked more smack to the UK than any other...hasn't attacked yet?
So far Poland, Sweden, and Canada have all attacked! Why haven't we? Our national reputation is at risk. We must attack for our honor.
We NEED to kill redcoats, my fellow Americans, and as President I will click the bottom the first chance I get! Otherwise were all talk. I pray that Jewitt will click the button before a new POTUS gets elected; and I hope the reason he hasn't yet is coordination with EDEN!

Allies Need Love!


Our allies are extremely important to me, second only to the eUS national interests. We should help our allies at every turn. Not to say we haven't helped them. We help our allies often. For examples see Greece, Israel, Australia, China, India...the list goes on and on. However, when I was Ambassador to Poland, the people their liked us. Loved? No. They wouldn't jump in front of a bus for us as they would for, say, Croatia. It appears most of EDEN feels this way. Why is that? Because Croatia is always there for it's allies! We need to fight for our allies constantly. EDEN wants us to be less of a Pansy.

Now having said that, we shouldn't just jump blindly into a conflict. We should talk to our enemies, and try to use diplomacy first. That can save us a lot of gold and manpower. But sometimes, war is inevitable and necessary.

A Unique Foreign Policy


Boredom, as stated above, is a HUGE problem. After the UK is taken care of (and I have no doubt that they will be!) what then? I have a plan.
If you will recall with me an unpleasant memory back when PEACE was invading us. We had just pushed Indonesia out, and what happened then? Colombia attacked us!Now, they were only able to do that because Mexico violated our pact and let them land swap through! They did little damage, being such a small country, but their treason showed. Now, we have all our regions back. How hard should we spank Colombia and Mexico?

I say we free Mexico and Colombia from themselves, and Unite the Americas! We are stronger than all of South America combined. This strategy has many pros. More activity, which leads to more people. More guns being bought, which leads to a greater economy. And more Justice, which leads to a happier eUS. And don't forget, we will get to free Colombia and Mexico from themselves! What a great thing!

Also, we should ninja Hello Kitty back to China soon.

Presidential Communication!


This has been my biggest irk since the Franco Administration. I remember being a young lad, barely level 6, and reading Scrabman's constant articles. Those articles did a few things for me.

1. They told me what was going on! I had no what was happening. I appreciated the near daily articles that since scrabman, haven't been put out near as often. As President, I will do my very best to emulate scrabman in writing articles.

2. They kept me here. If scrabman hadn't written articles, I would not still be here. It's as simple as that. The info he provided was vital. The communication between the POTUS and the people who elect him is critical.

3. They were p cool. (why is there never any lulz in POTUS candidacy articles? Players need lulz to stay too!)

POTUS-Congress Communication!


This is an area of expertise of mine. The last 2 terms in Congress I served, I personally made 3 different meetings between the POTUS and Congress. If you have never been in congress, you will be astounded that they know just as little as the rest of us. Congress needs info to be effective. So I would love to see a weekly meeting between Congress and the POTUS. (or just some of his staff. Presidents are busy people after all.)

This is all I can think of for now. I hope you've been convinced that I'm a good candidate. I want to do a shout out to PIZ/EC and Josh Frost. I wish them both the best of luck. Everyone running will only be a plus to the eUS.
