Imperialism: Part 1
CivilAnarchy
21 January 2009, 20:20/12 February 2009, 18:22/29 April 2009, 22:32: Presidents Justinious Mcwalburgson III, Uncle Sam, and Scrabman, respectively, all launched attacks on the original Portuguese regions of Azores, opening Portuguese MPP's that will be later used in the PEACE invasion of North America against the United States.
07 December 2008, 14:55: POTUS Benn Dover launches "Operation French Toast" in which the United States invaded three original French regions (Poitou Charentes, Limousin, Auvergne) had victories in the initial battles, and then lost the resulting retaliation from French forces. The Mpp's activated in this war would be later used in the PEACE invasion of North America, not only in native United States territory, but against US protected Canadian regions (Mantiboa).
13 May 2009, 14:40: Former President of the United States Scrabman launches an offensive against Far Eastern Russia, and fails to conquer this region. The resulting Mpp's opened in this attack made it possible for Russia to attack Alaska, and subsequently conquer over half of the United States of America.
24 August 2009, 17:45: Russia conquers Maine, the second to last free American region, now leaving only Florida in the United States. As the 10,000+ population of the United States holds its ground in its last remaining fortress, Russia declares intent to conquer Florida. Contrary to popular belief being that PEACE did not find it in its own strategic interests to "destroy" the United States, therefore giving up all open wars that it has against the country.
Six months ago our country was brought to the brink of destruction. Only by the brilliant maneuvering of truly heoric presidents like Emerick and Gauis Julius, combined with the blundering of our enemies (ahem, Russia) were we able to regain our country. However, the actions of previous presidents led to this situation. The wars of conquest started against France, Portugal, and especially Russia led to our near obliteration as a country. This is a lesson that should be well learned, and yet.....it is not.
January 26th, 2010: Joe Newton publishes his Platform for a POTUS run, http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/coming-at-america-1169028/1/20. In this article, he advocates for the invasion and occupation of Mexico and Colombia, as retaliation for their actions in the PEACE Invasion of North America. Mexico holds no resource value to us, and neither of the countries is truly a threat. This is a war that puts our country at risk, while giving little to no reward.
January 25th, 2010: Josh Frost publishes his platform for a POTUS run, http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/josh-frost-and-max-mcfarland-for-february-1164379/1/20. Frost advocates for the destruction of phoenix, saying "We need to wipe out Phoenix as a whole." Along with this plan, he gives a few paragraphs of explanation about how this can help the United States. However, this is reminiscent of when PEACE attempted to destroy Eden. You cannot kill a country in this game, any more than you can kill a thought in a person's head. PEACE destroyed 3 Eden countries, and brought one to the brink of annihilation, and yet it brought back those countries even stronger than before. So now we shall give them the same chance to rebuild and attack once again, and start the cycle of superpowers anew?
January 28th, 2010: PiginZen publishes his platform for a POTUS run, http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/presidential-platform-warpig-has-the-power-1171979/1/20. In this article, he declares that, if elected, he will open hostilities against the following countries: United Kingdom, Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, Russia, and Indonesia. This is the epitome of American Imperialism if it is to exist. If these plans go through, we will be, quite literally, an exact copy of what PEACE was. Everything that we fought against in World War 3, and every value that we stood for will be destroyed in one swoop of imperialistic policy.
Six months is a long time in erepublik. The world can change dramatically, as it has, so to speak.
However, that does not mean that the lessons of the past can be so easily disregarded. The exhuberance and overall acceptance of imperialism in the eUS has become so terrifying, that it has not only become the status quo of military action, there is not one leading figure that lifts a finger to even watch it. Our Presidential candidates all accept this as their own military policy, each more entrenched with it as an ideal than the last. If something is not done in the society of the eUnited States, we will become what we hate. We will replicate that which we gave everything to fight against. We will replace one horror with another. Always remember....
You do not have to become your enemy to defeat them.

First! Now I'll read it.
"Cease man of Troy, and cease thou sage of Greece,
To boast of Navigations great ye made;
Let the high Fame of Alexander cease,
And Trajan’s Banners in the East display'😛
Cease All, whose Actions ancient Bards exprest:
A brighter Valour arises in the West.
And you (my Spree Nymphs)...
Give me a mighty Fury, Nor rude Reeds
Or rustic Bag-Pipes sound, But such as War’s
Lowd Instrument (the noble Trumpet) breeds,
Which fires the Breast, and stirs the blood to jars."
I voted this SO HARD.
Excellent article, Civ. Thanks for reminding us all that the eUSA is supposed to be the beacon of light and not the Shadow of Death
Good article.
Still think we should let Colombia know that we aren't PEACE and we won't invade them, even though we could and wipe them out. We're better than that, better than them.
Of course, war drives the game. You need a common enemy to fight. Right now that enemy is Phoenix. We fight them.
Was it imperialistic in RL when Russia and the US invaded Germany in WW2? You could argue that the bombing could continue and the Nazi war machine was crippled, but they had to erase the entire threat.
Idk maybe I'm thinking to hard again
good article

Well said, citizen!
I personally responded to this article with this one: http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/response-to-imperialism-1176290/1/20" target="_blank">http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/resp[..]1/20
@Trent yes but as Civ pointed out you can't destroy a country in this game. You can destroy hospitals and defense systems and that's it. They still have all their weapons companies, all their soldiers, all their leaders, all their allies.
@Joe get ready for a re:re.
Hey, you need to fix a lot of those dates, this is 2010.
