MAKING MONEY IN EREPUBLIK

Day 3,402, 22:34 Published in USA Netherlands by Feynmann

Hi guys,

As I gained a bit more experience with the game mechanics (still probably not enough), I decided to continue my series of Educational articles and this time I will go for the different ways a new player can increase his income early on in his/her game. I believe the information I have included here is very important for every new player so I hope I won’t screw this up 😉

As with my previous articles I try to share information for different aspects of the game I have already experienced. But as this article goes broader than my humble experience, some of the aspects of the matter included here I have not yet had the opportunity to try for myself (I have only read and asked about). So as always I appreciate the old players sharing their year long experience and strategies in the comments below and of course correcting me if I messed things up 😉

So let’s go for a ride or as Carls Sagan used to say …. “Come with me” 😉

TYPES OF CURRENCY IN EREPUBLIK

There are two types of currency you can earn in the game: Gold and Country Currency

GOLD

The Gold is main type of currency in the game. It is used for all sorts of different game features like:

-Creating, upgrading and buying companies
-Creating specific types of storage facilities
-Upgrading your Training grounds and Advanced buildings
-Training in particular training grounds
-Creating Newspaper, Military unit or Political party
-Buying some special kinds of items like – Energy bars, Damage accelerators, Bazooka parts, Energy centers

All these different uses make the Gold essential for the development of your eSelf, so don’t waste it unwisely.

COUNTRY CURRENCY

The Country currency (in short cc) is the day to day regular type of currency that is flowing through the game.

There are several features you can use the CC for, like:

-Buying products and raw materials from the Market
-Buying Gold on the monetary market
-Creating certain types of Raw material companies and storage facilities
-Starting Resistance wars
-Travelling to different regions
-Paying your workers’ salaries

There is only 1 type of currency implemented globally in the game, but the different countries have a specific name for it. That means the name of the cc will depend on the player's citizenship – in my case I got a eUS citizenship so the cc in my account is called USD (US Dollars). If I decide to transfer cc to a player with a … let’s say ePolish citizenship I would have transferred say 10 USD while he would have received 10 PLN and vice versa.

Having 1 global type of cc in the game has some benefits - you can, for example, buy products from foreign markets without the need to exchange currencies first in order to have the needed amount of local currency for the purchase. The players can transfer money to each other without the currency exchange.

EARNING GOLD

So this is the part probably every player is mostly interested in. There are several different ways you can earn gold in the game: Gaining achievements (Medals), Monetary market exchange, Leveling Up or as a reward of certain missions or special occasions.

Quick note: The game also allows you to buy Gold with real money. Of course this depends on whether a player is willing to spend RL money on the game so I will not be looking at this option here. But if you do decide to buy gold make sure to do so on a specific days when there are some discounts or bonus gold is offered, so you can make the most out of your money.

Now let’s examine each of these methods separately:

- Gaining Achievements

You can check your Achievements (Medals) on your profile page (see the picture below).

When you gain a specific achievement you will be rewarded a specific amount of Gold.

IMPORTANT: NOT all achievements will reward you with gold – some give you cc. In this section I will only describe those that give some gold as a reward. For the other achievements check the Earning cc section.

Some of the achievements are … not impossible (impossibilities only limit the imagination), but lets go with improbable for being earned in a new player’s early eLife. So I decided to list the gold earning achievements from (in my opinion) the most probable and easy to earn early on to the most improbable and difficult 😉

Hard worker

The easiest Achievement to earn in the game – you just have to work for 30 days and you will be rewarded this achievement plus 5 Gold. It doesn’t matter if you work as an employee or as a General Manager in your companies the simple act of working will stack this day to the 30 Days Hard Worker countdown. You doesn't even need to work these 30 days in a row. It is only up to you to keep playing and earn it.

Super soldier

Rewarded for every 250 Strength you have gained. You can gain Strength by Training in your training centers. It will also reward you with 5 Gold.

There are 4 Training centers, available on the training grounds and each one of them has 4 Upgrade levels which, if reached, will give you more Strength from training daily in the specific center.

IMPORTANT: If you plan to upgrade some of your training centers be sure to do so when there is a 44% Discount of the upgrading costs. Some old players say it happens once every 30(ish) days. So be patient – wait for the discount.

The first of the Training centers is Free to train in and in the other 3 you have to pay certain amount of gold in order to use them. So keep that in mind early on, because as a new player you won’t have too much gold and as it turns out the training centers that require gold, to be able to train, are not very efficient when not upgraded and will drain more gold than the Super Soldier will provide.

Quick note: There are some training contracts, the developers sometimes offer, that provide you with a 50% or 90% discount of your training costs, but they are also worth substantial amount of gold to buy, so making some quick calculations, I think in order to make a full use of them you have to have all your training centers upgraded. Hope some old player will give more insights on the matter in the comments.

Overall, if you are a noob like me and you are still wondering whether to spend RL money on gold or not I guess you will have to do like I do – stick to the Free Training center for the time being and gain the regular 5 Gold from the Super Soldier. And as I was advised “only train in the second Training center when you have upgraded it completely”. 😉

Society builder

That medal rewards you with 5 Gold for “inviting 10 people to the game and helping them reach level 10”. Sounds like a pretty good deal to me, if you have some browser game lover friends around. Also, as a bonus to the 5 Gold there is an extra amount of gold you receive – a 10% of the gold earned from your friends by achievements or leveling up and 10% of the gold purchased by your friends. Sounds cool to me and also not that hard to accomplish so that’s why I put it third here.

Now we go to the trickier Achievements

Resistance hero

This medal rewards you with 5 Gold if you have supported a successful resistance war. If you want to start a resistance war you have to be at least level 26. Then you travel to the region where you want to start the war, invest a 1000 cc and wait (not necessarily in that region) for 9 other players to support the same resistance with 1000 cc. Provided that happened and the region is liberated you will be rewarded the Resistance hero medal and 5 Gold. If the war fails you won’t be able to support another one for a week.

I have not tried that yet, but it seems a bit tricky to me to predict which region will be successfully liberated if you don’t know the involved countries’ plan on the matter, but I guess if you watch the battles between two countries you might be able to catch the trend. Certainly requires some experience so it’s a good thing you have to be lvl 26 to try it. And I guess you can always ask an old player from your MU for advice.

Congress member

This Achievement is rewarded if you get elected to be a congress member of your country. It will reward you with 5 Gold. Probably requires quite some activity in the game and some popularity.
But overall I think it is within the probable range of Achievemnts.

Media Mogul

Rewarding you 5 Gold for every 1000 subscribers to your newspaper, provided you have one of course 😉

Quick note: In addition to the 5 Gold reward from the medal, by writing good articles, you can earn some cc in the form of endorsements from other players. Also the admins can endorse good articles, with gold, via their official account - Plato.

Nothing more to discuss here. I guess if you show some skillful writing and certain popularity you could add that achievement to your list. 😉

Country president

Rewards you 5 Gold for winning the presidential elections in your country. I guess some insane activity in the game and popularity is needed here. But who knows. You could be the next president 😃

Battle Hero

The battle Hero achievement is rewarded for being the top damage dealer in a single round,of your side, in a land based campaign. The reward varies within the different Divisions like so:

Division 1 – 2 Gold
Division 2 – 3 Gold
Division 3 – 4 Gold
Division 4 – 5 Gold

Now I have put this medal so far back because as I recently discovered there is an enhancement a player can buy with RL money that allows him/her to swap Divisions freely so a Division 4 tank can hit in Division 1, for example, when he/she pleases. That makes it close to impossible for a new player to win a BH medal. So I guess one would have to get quite stronger in order to get a BH medal.

Quick note: I have noticed there was a promotion recently giving 4x the reward of a BH and 10x the reward of a campaign hero. I also noticed that, as expected, people went crazy that day. So I would advise you NOT to get crazy in days like these. Cause on the next day people obviously slightly depleted made substantially less damage. That makes it easier to score a BH. At least whenever I try to score a BH I will try on a post crazy day like that 😉

Sky hero

Rewards you with 30 Gold for being the top damage dealer, on your side, of an Aircraft battle. Again pretty straight forward and pretty tempting reward, but be advised that since there is no Perception ability (the Aircraft analogue of Strength) the damage you will deal is calculated by the Aircraft rank you have and weather you use Aircraft weapons or not. So as being a new player your rank will be low. That’s why try to rank up and gain experience and then when you feel ready, fully supplied and experienced fighter pilot you may attempt winning that achievement.

Quick note: Feel free to check another article I have written about the Aircraft Mode. There I have explained some useful tips for how a new player like me can add some money utilizing the Air mode.

Campaign hero

This achievement rewards you 5 Gold for being a top damage dealer for your side for a WHOLE campaign. I would presume that without spending RL money to the game this achievement is years away for you. So I wouldn’t attempt to get it soon.

Top Fighter

This one is playing crazy. There is this list of top damage dealers in the ranking menu, so if you happen to be part of this top 100 fighters' list for 30 days (not necessarily in a row) you get 5 Gold and this Achievement. As with the Campaign hero medal – I would presume improbable or years away to achieving it.

LEVELING UP

This is pretty straight forward – every time you climb to a new level you get 1 Gold. As a cool additive to the 1 Gold, when you level up, you gain a Full energy refill so try to utilize that when you see you are close to the next level.

MONETARY MARKET EXCHANGE

This is your way to convert Country currency into the so needed Gold. When you are on the monetary market there are two ways to do the exchange:

- Buying gold directly – it’s a fast way, but you have to spend a lot more cc per gold bought.

- Selling cc – you put a selling offer with a specific amount of cc, with the current exchange rate, and you usually wait several days for the cc to be sold (my first cc offer sold out for 9 days). It’s a lot slower method, but your gain will be bigger so if you are not in a hurry try that.

IMPORTANT: If your offer on the monetary market is older than 10 days it will automatically be removed and your cc returned to your account. Also the position you are put on the market list of players, with the same exchange rate, depends on the order of the offer posting so post your offer and leave it there until it sells 😉 And one more thing - the maximum amount of gold you can acquire trough Monetary market or donations is 10 per day so there is no point of posting an offer bigger than 10 Gold worth of cc at a time.

EARNING COUNTRY CURRENCY

As with the gold earning there are several different ways to earn cc – earning certain Achievements, working daily as an employee, utilizing houses, selling products on the market and Combat orders.

Working as an employee

Working as an employee, together with training are the two main activities every player will do as part of his daily routine. Working for your employer grants you certain amount of cc as a salary. Part of that salary is given to the country as a working tax.

With the exception of the house and aircraft industries you can also work as a Manager in your own companies. For every one of your own companies, you work in, you would be charged with the same working tax as with the working as an employee.

Selling products on the market

Every player can sell products or raw materials produced in his companies or resell stuff he bought from a foreign market.
You can post an offer on your citizenship country’s market, from the “SELL” button in your storage.

In order to sell products and raw materials on foreign markets you have to buy an export license for the particular country. Every export license costs 20 Gold. Changing your citizenship won’t grant you access to your new citizenship’s country market – you still have to buy license to sell there.

Quick note: If interested you can check my guide to the eRepublik products HERE.

Utilizing houses

The houses implemented in the game provide some cool features that should not be neglected. As the main purpose of this article is explaining the different way for a new player to earn money in the game I would only explain one of the house features – the generation of overtime points. For more information on the houses and other products check my Products’guide.

So every house, no matter the quality, can generate Overtime points (OP) as long as the house is active. An active house generates 1 OP/ hour. That means you can generate 24 OP/24 hours of the house’s durability or 168 OP for the full durability (lifespan) of a single house. The more houses you have active the more OP you would be able to generate, BUT KEEP IN MIND that you can have only 1 house from each house quality activated at the same time. That means you can have a maximum of 5 houses activated of every one of the 5 Quality types. The Overtime points can be used to work overtime as an employee (see the pictures below). Working overtime consumes 24 OP and 10 Health while rewarding you with the same amount of salary you work for normally. You CAN'T work overtime in your companies as a manager.

As I have used one for some time now I would strongly recommend every new player to buy a Q1 house especially if he/she is working for high enough salary. If you decide to buy a Q1 House activate it and keep it constantly active. That way you can work overtime for 7 days meaning you will add 7 more salaries to your budget, some of which will refund the cost of the house – if your salary is say 210 USD and you have a Q1 House activated constantly -> you would be adding 210 – 2 USD working tax = 208 -> 208x7=1456 USD from working overtime per week. With the current price of a Q1 House about 950 USD you get -> 1456-950=506 USD bonus from working overtime. So the house really pays for itself and adds about 1.5 Gold per week to your account if you sell those 506 USD on the Monetary market.

Earning Achievements

In this section I would describe the Achievements that grant cc as a reward

Freedom Fighter

This medal rewards you with 1000 cc if you defeat a certain amount of enemies in a certain amount of successful resistance wars (RW).

For example:
Fight in 3 successful Resistance Wars and defeat 25 opponents in each (1st medal)
Fight in 3 successful Resistance Wars and defeat 50 opponents in each (2nd medal)
Fight in 3 successful Resistance Wars and defeat 75 opponents in each (3rd medal)

Fight in 4 successful Resistance Wars and defeat 25 opponents in each (4th medal)
Fight in 4 successful Resistance Wars and defeat 50 opponents in each (5th medal)
Fight in 4 successful Resistance Wars and defeat 75 opponents in each (6th medal)

And so on. Now I find it extremely easy to score Freedom fighter medals, even for a new player, if you use the Ghost booster you receive daily as a reward of completing your daily task. You can find more information on that in my GHOST BOOSTER Article.

I found that the Freedom fighter medals “hunting”, by using the ghost booster strategy, can be really profitable for a new player, as the cost of doing that is significantly reduced by the effectiveness of the method. I am currently finishing my 5th FF medal and it never costed me more than 1 gold worth of cc to achieve that, at least for now.
So I strongly recommend trying to score at least 1 or 2 FF medal. It will provide you the cash needed early on and also quite some experience on the battlefield.

Mercenary Achievement

This one is pretty clear – defeat 25 enemies for 50 different countries. Looks like quite a lot of fighting is needed, but using the FF hunting method you can easily score 2 stacks of this medal fighting both for the resisting and the oppressor country.

True Patriot

Rewards you 1000 cc every time you reach a certain amount of damage dealt for your citizenship country.
The first True Patriot medal will be rewarded when you deal 100 000 damage for your citizenship country. That will show a True patriot damage progress bar on your profile page, showing how much damage do you need to do to earn the next True Patriot medal.

Combat orders

You can find the combat order (CO) below a particular battle on the wars list

The CO allows you to earn some cc when fighting for the side that offers it. The CO can be offered by one of the fighting sides or from both of them. It is important to know that the CO will only work if you fight for the country that offers it at a particular percent of wall domination.

So if the wall domination percentage do not correspond to the one specified in the CO STOP fighting for the time being or you won’t receive any money.

That's all for today guys. I hope that will turn out to be a useful guide.
