What's in the news?

Recently our news hasn't really had much news in it. Apart from the rise in lions there hasn't been a lot of talk of whats going on in the world. So I thought I'd do a brief article with a few points of interest of whats happening in the world, to try and get a few of you out of the blue.

It's worth mentioning firstly however that the ingame mechanics of hospitals have changed - you can now only heal damage you have lost in battle. This is a bit of an odd change by the admins but it does mean that to maintain your wellness you may need to purchase a higher quality food and some gifts. Especially if you are in a high Q company.


Slovenia

A number of days ago both Poland and Croatia launched a joint offensive on Slovenia, attacking all of it's regions simultaneously. Fortunately not all of the regions were taken. Eden had aimed to wipe Slovenia off the map in one foul swoop - in order to avoid activated MPP's being used against them in the future. They didn't succeed, and since then Slovenia has liberated it's final region. Lower Carniola.

Because Slovenia was not wiped off the map, and has gained initiative it was able to launch the counter-offensive on Croatia. Having been taking it's original regions back no Croatian MPP's have been activated. Slovenia's MPP's were activated when they were initially attacked meaning it was 7 countries (those MPP'd with Slovenia) versus Croatia.

The other implication of the unsuccessful Eden strike is that Slovenia now has activated MPP's against Poland. Providing Slovenia can avoid possible blocks from Croatia and if a War is Declared Spain then as shown in this map, they could liberate Polish occupied French and German territories. It would however depend on countries such as Italy and Germany allowing Slovenia passage. Although Italy being a member of Entente and Germany standing to benefit from the region swaps, it could be easily and quickly negotiated.

Karnataka

Karnataka, an Indian original region is perhaps one of the most well known regions in game. It's desired for it's high Iron and sunny location, and during the USA's conquest through eastern Asia it was liberated from Indonesia and came under control of another owner - the USA.

However, our friends allies and one of the strongest countries, (if not the strongest) Serbia have been edging towards it and are currently located in Sindh.



Although a red Filipino region is currently in the way, Serbia is still only a stones throw away from Karnataka, a region which the USA would pay a lot of money to keep. After all, high Iron regions can bring benefits to a countries economy and more importantly, their weapons industry.

However, should the Philippines swap it's Indian region with the USA, then Serbia will have to attack a US region before even reaching Karnataka. If this is done it will mainly be a stalling tactic - I wouldn't spend money fighting Serbia elsewhere when the defence of Karnataka will undoubtedly require a large tanking fund.


Indonesia

Two days ago Indonesia was attacked by Australia. Although Indonesia has suffered some territorial losses in the past and arguably isn't quite the powerhouse it used to be, they can still pack a punch. Attacking them was a bold move by Australia and if they were aiming to achieve anything they would need Eden's undivided support. Especially as they are fighting against activated MPP's.

Not only are the hopes of taking Indonesian territories slim, but any successes they do have on the battlefield will help move Indonesia towards a babyboom. Indonesia has had a babyboom before and is one of the lucky countries who stand to take great advantage from them.



The USA also has an indonesian border, and an open war. Despite some baiting, they are yet to use it and may only end up doing so for blocking purposes. After all, Australia do have considerable MPP's open against them after launching their attack.


USA

The USA has become the subject of dispute within the general public of Eden. Whilst Croatia was expecting their support against Slovenia, the USA spent considerable amounts of money RW'ing Sindh, and taking in it to get the wall down in the last few seconds of the battle.

Any fight against Serbia and it's population is going to take a fair bit of cash to win, but after successfully RWing Sindh questions were quickly raised as to why...

..Because Sindh was kindfully returned to Serbia by Pakistan shortly afterwards.

In short, all the American efforts had gone to waste, and as a result a number of important battles were lost where their participation could have swayed the tide of battle.



Apart from that they've reestablished their territories in India and China, as you can see on the map of Karnataka and it's surrounding regions. This is simply to prepare for the worst. Should Karnataka fall they immediatly have a border from which to begin attempts to retake it.

Also, there was some business about a PP election because some cool guy ran. They only gave him 3 votes though.


Finally - I'm looking for a new banner and any fancy images to throw into the old newspaper. Any benevolent photoshoppers who like my paper are welcome to submit any ideas.
