Tommy Gun: A Military and Foreign Affairs Manifesto.

Day 684, 14:22 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Mr Woldy

War! Huh!? Good god ya’ll!

Good Evening!
This is out a little later than expected and then I had hoped, but fear not, I’m sure the past two manifestos; both the domestic and finance kept you busy.

And so it comes to this, it’s time to look at the direction and aims for the military and foreign affairs sectors of the eUK should I be elected tomorrow on the 5th.

Military

Review of RG organisation and high ranking staff

The RG is pretty handy, and in my opinion ought to be treated like a stepping stone towards the Royal Navy, not necessarily exclusive to people who can’t move around, but transfers to the mobile forces should be encouraged.

Alas, there has been a lot of confusion in the RG recently. As IRC isn’t frequently used by all guardsmen, communication has been an issue. Within the military, communication is the key, and recently that key has gone missing.

So, the RG shall be reviewed, each and every member messaged with details on which squad they are in and the chain of command, and each member told to sign up on the hub daily, in order to receive weapons. A good CO will be put in place to ensure standards are met, and the chain of command shall be treated as such; a structure stuck too with officers getting leniency over issues such as weapons distribution and squad recruitment.

If members of the SF or Navy call for a similar enquiry into the structure, then it may be done. But as of yet no major issues with the mobile branches have been flagged up.

More recruitment

We have to make joining the army beneficial for people. We have to make it more appealing. Frequent articles will be published, either directly from the MoD, or the Military branches. People will be encouraged to sign up, inter-branch competitions will be set up to promote use of the forums and to create a social cohesion in the military. Information on fights from the Navy and RG can be published in articles, to show people where the action has been and to show what they are missing out on.

Information on how to sign up and its benefits can be released from the MoHa, and regional councils can be encouraged to release such articles too.

The Military can organise PM, Ads, and media campaigns to boost recruitment. Due to the hub large forum activity isn’t a necessity, but people must remember to use the hub daily. Members who fail to log in can be assigned PMing tasks to help with recruitment or see fewer weapons given to them in times of battle. It must be made known that we have an active military, and that almost anyone can sign up and help. It must be made known to the common citizen, that their country needs them.

A Review of the Distribution of Military funds

Ooh, that’s right. A large portion of the governments money goes into the military. Obviously, this isn’t a bad thing, but where is it all going? We have to ask ourselves where the money is best put to use. A lot of it goes to the Special Forces, which is also OK. Boosting people to the rank of General or even better, Field Marshal can have great benefits when it comes to increasing the damage output of the Special Forces.

However, similarly, arming every soldier with a strength of at least 5 with 5 Q1 weapons can have major benefits also. Not only does it keep people interested in staying in the military, it increases the damage done by them if they were given say, two or three weapons. This in turn helps them rank up. The long term benefits of having a large force of people with fairly good strength and rank are large. This sort of funding should be done especially during training wars, when we can afford to lose. We are at the minute, it seems, to focussed on powering up the Special Forces. Obviously in major battles they can make a large difference, and they are guaranteed to do high damage. But putting more funds into the Navy and distributing more weapons between them and the RG means that we substantially raise the potential damage of our other branches, and is also a good investment for the future or our armed forces.

Foreign Affairs

PEACE Relations they’re good aren’t they?

Well lets try and keep them that way. Promoting the interaction of the general UK with citizens from across the PEACE global community is a great way to get ourselves better known and better liked by our PEACE buddies. Again, interaction on a social level is great, and allows people to get a bigger, better idea of the workings and goings on in the world. This is easily achieved, using the PEACE forum and IRC being the main ways to go about it.

We should also continue to assist in the ongoing wars. People through around words like “puppets” but in reality we’re part of a bigger entity. An equal and contributing part of a super alliance, and so we should act as such.

Relations with neutral countries

We have some good relations with neutral countries too. But I feel more could be done. A section of the MoFa will be run to ensure we are in contact with neutral countries. Not only does this do the obvious and serve to make new friends, but it can open business and trade opportunities with countries of which we may not have thought to do so with before.

Not only that, but it may also provide us with help, military or economic from unexpected places. Being in PEACE is fine, but why stop there? We should be making an effort to make new friends and allies, we should always try to keep gaining more, especially when there is great potential in them.

Fortis/Eden

I often feel that things have gotten pretty bad here. But then again, we’re kinda at war, so you wouldn’t expect it to be great. As an Ambassador, I quickly came to realise that many people from countries such as the USA and Canada, may not be fond of Britain. Yet, they can become fond of individual British people. I don’t think it’s stepping the line to say I’ve made new friends in the US and Canada, and again, basic social interaction via the forums and IRC can help clear up the incredible tension and flamey aura between our nations. (Providing trolls and flame wars are avoided, ofc)

Now this obviously isn’t a necessity. It does, however have benefits. I can serve to cut down on propaganda and bad attitudes. It can make everyone new friends. It can lighten the mood a little. This is after all a game, and no-one has been destroyed yet, so we may aswell try and be a bit nicer. After all, we’ve had bundles of fun these past few weeks.

Mr Woldy, CP Candidate.
