The Presidents of Canada – Where are they now?

Day 1,154, 21:45 Published in Canada Canada by Jacobi

Self referential history is clearly for the win, but it’s always nice to delve back into our past and figure out what happened to people once they left the big chair and settled off into pastures unknown.

1. Olivia
President: December, 2007
Generation: Founder
Position After President: ???
Status: Dead
Last Known Whereabouts: Isle de France, France

I’ve never believed that Olivia was our first President. I believe that historical fudgery or some pre-historic lulz caused a person born in Janaury to be President in December according to Canada’s wiki page. In any case, by quirk of how citizenship was originally implemented Olivia lost her Canadian citizenship when France took parts of Canada in WW3. As she has been long dead, how she meandered over to Isle de France remains a mystery of game mechanics.

2. Grapez
President: January, February 2008
Generation: Founder
Position after President: Citizen
Status: Dead
Last Known Whereabouts: Alberta, Canada

Likely our first real President, Grapez fell off from the eCanadian scene after his Presidential election. He would reappear two more times, momentarily and without much recognition. He’s friends with Dio Brando though, so that must count for something.

3. Faltnor
President: March, April 2008
Generation: Founder
Position after President: Mayor of Iqaluit
Status: Dead
Last Known Whereabouts: British Columbia, Canada

The President during the famed USA-Canada war, Faltnor’s reputation (if addressed at all) probably suffers from a generally disparaging assessment of his inactivity during the war. Faltnor only has Canadian citizenship because during one of his brief periods of lucidity I managed to give it to him.

4. Derick Braham
President: May 2008
Generation: Founder
Position after President: Vice President in June 2008
Status: Dead
Last Known Whereabouts: Nova Scotia, Canada

Considered by some to by Canada’s best Prime Minister, Braham would continue to serve in leadership one more term after his Presidency before a schism with Adam Sutler ended his political career. Due to the citizenship quirk, Braham has UK citizenship.

5. Adam Sutler
President: June, July (partial), August 2008
Generation: Founder
Position after President: Exiled
Status: Dead
Last Known Whereabouts: PEI, Canada

Perhaps the most venerated of the Founder Presidents, much of the foundation of eCanada was built during his tenure including heavy roleplay. After his final term as President, Sutler stayed true to his word and did not re-enter political life. After he was found guilty of multi-ing, Sutler was exiled from eCanadian life and subsequently died.

6. Cottus Arci
President: July (partial), September 2008
Generation: Founder
Position after President: Australian President, gadfly, international man of mystery
Status: Alive
Last Known Whereabouts: Queensland, Australia

Canada’s second oldest living President and a still fairly active one at that, Cottus Arci was an Australian transplant the founded many Canadian political institutions. Returning to his native Australia after his Canadian stint, Cottus today is an elder statesman, and four time ex-President down under.

7. Banach
President: October (partial) 2008
Generation: Founder
Position after President: Newspaperman, CPF party leader, Deputy MoFA
Status: Dead
Last Known Whereabouts: Ontario, Canada

The second Canadian President to be impeached (Cottus Arci was the first), Banach was also the first President of V1. One of the first Canadian media moguls, he sold the original Ottawa Guardian to nea milosu, though was able to gain over 600 subscribers to its second iteration. One of the founders of the reborn Canadian Progressive Front, Banach went inactive in 2010 after a long twilight career as one of that party’s leaders.

8. Tantis
President: November 2008
Generation: Beta Giant
Position after President: Vice President August 2009, Australian MoFA
Status: Alive
Last Known Whereabouts: Alberta, Canada

Canada’s third oldest living Prime Minister, Tantis has a long and storied career in both Canada and Australia. After his Presidency, Tantis moved to Australia to take up different foreign affairs positions before returning to Canada to take part in my post invasion government. Tantis has been an eCanadian IRC operator for quite some time, and can be seen there semi-regularly.

9. Tom Hagen
President: December (partial) 2008
Generation: Founder
Position after President: CPP President, Minister of Heritage (Oct 2009)
Status: Alive
Last Known Whereabouts: Ontario, Canada

Canada’s oldest living Prime Minister, Tom Hagen was President during the infamous invasion of France by Atlantis called French Toast. After his Presidency, Tom was a long time leader of the Canadian Paradox Party and advisor to the Canadian government. Occasionally still seen on IRC, Tom’s last major government posting was as William Duncan’s Minister of Heritage.

10. Zanalan
President: December (partial) 2008, January, February 2009
Generation: Beta Giant
Position after President: Congressman
Status: Dead
Last Known Whereabouts: New Brunswick, Canada

Taking over from Tom Hagen, Zanalan was a long time President of Canada whose increasing inactivity in the final days of his reign were actively commented upon by the chattering classes of the time. He was easily re-elected as a Congressman after his Presidency twice more, before becoming dead in game in May 2009

11. Bruck
President: March, April, May 2009
Generation: Beta Giant
Position after President: Founder of Bruck’s Canucks (now The Crimson Order), Congressman
Status: Dead
Last Known Whereabouts: Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada

Probably one of the most influential Canadians ever, Bruck’s second act after leaving three terms as Prime Minister rivalled his own Presidency in terms of a legacy. As the founder of the modern day Crimson Order, Bruck’s impact on Canadian life is even more amazing in that he never again held a position of significant formal power inside the Canadian government.

12. Jacobi
President: June, July, August, September, December 2009, January 2010
Generation: Boomer
Position after President: current MoFA, Governor-General, Speaker etc etc
Status: Alive
Last Known Whereabouts: Yukon, Canada

You know me – that’s why you’re reading this.

13. William Duncan
President: October, November 2009
Generation: Boomer
Position after President: Citizen
Status: Alive
Last Known Whereabouts: Ontario, Canada

After his Presidency, William Duncan chose release a series of newbie help guides called the Art of eWar. In the last year, Duncan has died and resurrected himself several times each with different gimmicks, and once even commenting on it. Duncan is alive (and dying again) today.

14. Jbdivinus
President: February 2010
Generation: Beta Giant
Position after President: Congressman, Project Mayhem leader, DAL PTOer
Status: Banned
Last Known Whereabouts: Nova Scotia, Canada

Jbdivinus, having served his term as President, would continue to make provocative decisions throughout the remainder of his e-life, participating and directing a takeover of DAL, and (arguably) a takeover of the country. Given access to the 1ronman account in the summer, jbdivinus holds the inauspicious rank of being the only Canadian Prime Minister to be permanently banned (and stay that way 😉)

15. Chucky Norris
President: March 2010
Generation: Boomer
Position after President, CAF HC, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Defence, etc etc
Status: Alive
Last Known Whereabouts: Yukon, Canada

Chucky Norris, the first Francophone Prime Minister of eCanada, is perhaps one of the most trusted eCanadians today, having served in senior government and the CAF High Command almost continuously since his departure from the Presidency a year ago. He also holds the distinction of one of the strongest Prime Ministers, both during his tenure and after.

16. Derek Harland
President: April 2010
Generation: Boomer
Position after President: Civil Defence Minister (May 2010)
Status: Dead
Last Known Whereabouts: Ontario, Canada

With probably the briefest post Presidency of the modern Presidents, Derek’s burnout during his reign led to just one newspaper article more after the end, a brief stint as Civil Defence Minister and his death three months later.

17. Nea milosu
President: May 2010
Generation: Boomer
Position after President: Presidential Advisor, Congressman
Status: Alive
Last Known Whereabouts: Quebec, Canada

After an ignominious end to his Presidency, Nea milosu spent the latter half of 2010 refurbishing his legacy. Regaining some measure of his past stature, nea would be one of the few ex-Presidents to retry for the office after a significant absence (Jacobi, Tantis, and Banach being some others). His paper, the Polar News, remains one of the most subscribed in Canada, even after a brief bout with death in early December.

18. Dade Pendwyn
President: June, July 2010
Generation: Boomer
Position after President: Citizen
Status: Alive
Last Known Whereabouts: Alberta, Canada

The only Prime Minister in 2010 to carry a second term, Dade Pendwyn published his memoirs of his time in office. And then, despite being a prolific author and relatively beloved figure, has not been involved in Canadian politics or wrote an article since. Unlike many presidents who don’t continue on in politics, he isn’t dead.

19. Acacia Mason
President: August 2010
Generation: WW3 Generation
Position after President: Minister of “Everything Else” (Rolo Admin), Cabinet Member (Dec 2010)
Status: Alive
Last Known Whereabouts: New Brunswick, Canada

A provocateur before election, a provocateur after office, Acacia Mason remains a well read media personality even after a brief battle with death last month. Scandals and implications arising from the Project Mayhem fiasco have tarnished a well established reputation as a good President somewhat, but there are still those who wish to see another round from the proprietor of the Northern Telegraph... including Acacia himself.

20. Rolo Tahmasee
President: September (partial) 2010
Generation: Boomer
Position after President: Most Hated Man in Canada, Congressman
Status: Alive
Last Known Whereabouts: Ontario, Canada

It’s hard to do justice to the continuing soap opera that is Rolo Tahmasee’s post Presidency. Suffice to say, Rolo has had the best severance package that any eCanadian President will ever have.

21. Karsten Skeries
President: September (partial) 2010
Generation: WW3 Generation
Position after President: Citizen
Status: Alive
Last Known Whereabouts: Yukon, Canada

Unexpectedly thrust into the role of President, Skeries would decline to run for election and instead pass by his post-Presidency uneventfully, following the Dade Pendwyn tradition of neither commenting in his paper, running for Congress, posting a shout, but being alive all the same.

22. Alias Vision
President: October 2010
Generation: Boomer
Position after President: Citizen
Status: Alive
Last Known Whereabouts: Alberta, Canada

Having been a unity candidate in a month of little Presidential choice, Alias Vision’s quiet Presidency has been mirrored by his quiet post-Presidency, where his usually active Freeholder Press hasn’t released an article. After two half-hearted attempts to take a Congressional seat in November and December, it remains to be seen whether a re-emergence alluded to in a recent shout regarding the Presidency is real or a commentary on how everyone seems to want to run in February.

23. Fox Blutch
President: November 2010
Generation: Beta Giant
Position after President: Presidential Advisor
Status: Alive
Last Known Whereabouts: Ontario, Canada

Canada’s second francophone Prime Minister, Fox served as an advisor to his successor and remains an well enjoyed IRC personality. While his in game commentary is limited (one shout, no articles in the last two months), he remains one of the few ex-Presidents to remain a focal point in the community without actively seeking elected or appointed office.

24. TemujinBC
President: December 2010
Generation: WW3 Generation
Position after President: Citizen
Status: Alive
Last Known Whereabouts: British Columbia, Canada

Tragically (for all of us) prevented from running for re-election by game mechanics, TemujinBC remains a dynamic and active presence in the political and military landscape with a movement (intentional or not) to reclaim the Presidency in February. Having mostly wiped his past clean with a competent term as President, Temujin wears the elder statesmen title uneasily, likely due to its lack of lulz.
