Preface
3 Things You Should Check Before You Click the "Apply" Button in Job Market
1. Is the company having sufficient Raw Material? (Skip this if you want to work with a Land company that collects Oil, Iron, Diamond, Grain or Wood)
2. How many employees does the company have and how many job offers?
3. Did most of the company workers work today or at least yesterday?
A good company should have sufficient Raw Material, around 10 people for max productivity (20 for construction companies), and active workers (see images below). There's an exception - Fort Harlot Weapons (explained later in Part III)
Part I
Basic Facts and Rules about Working
1. You have to click the green "Work" button to work. Your character does NOT work automatically.
2. You get paid once a day after you successfully worked for your company on that day. You will see a Productivity Sheet (see image below) after you work, that's the sign of worked successfully.
3. Every 30 consecutive days of work will get you a Hard Worker Medal and a reward of 5 Gold. So, staying in a company that you can't work or forgetting to work every now and then gives you big loss!
4. Under normal circumstance, you cannot leave (resign from) a company within the first 72 hours after you join.
Unless:
(a) Your company ran out of Raw Material (only applies to Manufacturing company);
(b) Your company ran out of cash to pay you;
(c) Your boss (general manager of the company) fired you.
5. If your company ran out of Raw Material or cash, you will get a message that tells you why you can't work after you click the "Work" button, similar to the image above. When that message appears, you can and you should resign immediately.
6. A company is at its max productivity when having 10 employees (or 20 for construction company), not more or less.
7. There is no free lunch. When a company's offer is too good to imagine, it'd be most likely a shenanigan.
Part II
Stay Away from These Companies
1. Companies with ridiculous high amount of job offers and/or salary.
2. Manufacturing companies with no Raw Material.
Note: when your company ran out of raw materials, you can and you should resign immediately.
3. "Dead" companies with most employees not working for days: it is most likely that they are out of cash to pay salaries
Note: when your company has no cash to pay you, you can and you should resign immediately.
4. For those of you below Level 5, stay away from companies with higher quality level (marked as star) than 1. Because, working in high quality companies will give a bigger Wellness loss, and you are most likely not going to have 40 Wellness when you reach level 5, it will ruin your earliest opportunity of fighting and healing.
Part III
Fort Harlot Weapons: An example of government funded newbie hub
As you can see, Fort Harlot Weapons is having a huge number of employees, and many of those employees have not been working for many days.
However, it has a huge stock of raw materials and pays everybody at minimum salary of 1 USD. It is not a shenanigan, it is actually one of those very few companies running as a newbie's hub: a place to get every newbie a job with minimum salary and get their manufacturing skill trained. As it was written in Fort Harlot Weapons Welcome Letter, you should consider finding another job once your manufacturing skill gets to 2.0.
Part IV
For Whom Are You Working: A Deeper Inspection
1. Due to Wellness, management and investment mechanics, most of serious business owners do NOT manage their company with their Citizen Account. Instead, they do it with an Organization Account. An Organization Account is a separate account that can be created by citizens with Level 11 or above. It is very similar to a citizen except that they have no wellness limitations, no citizenship, and they move around the world a lot. It is hard to tell whom you are really working for from the location of your company or the location of your company's managing organization.
2. Why do organizations move a lot? They move a lot to maximize their business profit. Here are a few specific reasons:
(a) To build or to buy a company in a desired region, most likely a Land company in High Raw Material region;
(b) To buy raw materials for their manufacturing company in foreign high raw material regions;
(c) To buy cheap food, weapons, gifts or houses from foreign markets;
(d) Other reasons including hostile approaches.
3. Now you know that your company's location and your company's organization location have nothing to do with the identity of your boss: the true investor of the company. In case you feel a company suspicious, you can mostly likely find out the true investor through the following steps:
Take this company in Mississippi for example:
(a) Go to the company's managing organization page, don't be fooled by the lovely Star-Spangled Banner;
(b) From the organization page, click "all donations";
(c) Find out the major investor, or probably the only investor;
(d) Track that name, go to the investor's page (In this particular example, you can see he is an enemy, a wholehearted eRussian).
Note that sometimes they tend to hide the true investor pretty deep behind several organizations, or maybe the organization is a joint-venture, in that case, you'd need to be persistent and smart to find out what's what. The above example is a simple one with a lame disguise, but hey, there are still a lot of people trapped in.
4. A little more about Economic Terrorism and Newbie Trolling: Don't be fooled by the above kind of companies. Occasionally, they add a few units of raw materials to their stock and get a few players worked and paid. Others might think that it is how the game works, or since this company pays way better than others, maybe I just pray for a better luck the next day. Well, in that case, you are screwed. That's all this whole shenanigan is about: to trap the new players in a beautiful illusion and screw their working routine, their consecutive working reward, and ultimately, their interest in this game. Please, for the love of god, find yourself a better company right away if that's the case.
Part V
FAQ and Miscellaneous Issues
1. Q: Which industry should I choose? Manufacturing or Land or Construction?
A: It doesn't matter. Just make sure you stick to one of them in your early stage and get it high, so you can take high pay jobs as soon as you could. Personally, I prefer Manufacturing, but that's just me.
2. Q: The money I get everyday is lower than what it says on the company's employee sheet, what's wrong?
A: Nothing's wrong. It's income tax. The number you see on the company's sheet is pre-tax. Say you are in eUSA, the income tax is 20%, if you salary sheet says 5 USD, you are actually getting 4 USD.
3. Q: I'm fired, I did nothing wrong, why fire me?!
A: Well, there could be 2 reasons: either your boss is condensing his company to keep the maximized productivity of 10 people (you are not one of the best 10) or your wellness doesn't meet the company's requirement.
4. Q: Why is Wellness a requirement?
A: Because the higher wellness you have when you click "work", the more products you produce. Wellness is actually as important as the level of your business skill. Normally, when you are above Level 5, you should always work at Wellness above 90 since you can boost your wellness by fighting and healing. For those companies that pays competitive salary and with "Wellness 90+" written in their company name, high wellness working from every single employee is very important. If you work at around 50 Wellness, you are actually damaging your company's balance.
5. Q: I have other questions…
A: Feel free to ask.

Another form of war has starte
😛The Monetary Market War. It is simple: Most of our citizens need USD to buy weapons, gifts, Q5 food today for the battle in California, so we SELL Gold and BUY USD. Our enemies know that! Please be careful whom you are buying USD from, do NOT trade your Gold to our enemies so they could use it to buy Wellness Packs and tank us! For more information, read this.

Awesome article, Yang.
This is a really good guide.
This is a great article, would you mind sending me the "original copy" or whatever so that I can publish it in eDenmark? (with some modifications for relevance to eDanes). Don't worry I won't take credit for it.
Also construction companies reach maximum efficiency at 20 employees, I don't think you mentioned that anywhere. A small correction.
Excellent. Thanks for putting all the work in writing this.
Well done Sir!

Good article, definitely a must-read for newbies.
One question: You've explained in detail how to find out who owns the company you work for. Other than satisfying one's curiosity, what purpose does it serve?
thumbs up

I've been bitching about this for a long time, never could express it all so eloquently as you have here. thank you!
Stupid economic warfare has made me pay way too much w/ my orgs - I'm not even making a profit, I'm just manufacturing gifts. Sigh... At least it's helping the war end a bit sooner - then it'll be back to normal.
