Spain Conquers North of Brazil, Poland Advances, Day 1071

Day 1,071, 12:35 Published in USA USA by Lieutenant Scheisskopf

Day 1071 has brought closure to yesterday's historic developments, but new stories are in the works as eSpain contemplates further advances in South America and EDEN powers are on the move in Germany. In Southeast Asia, EDEN may see a new option for challenging other Phoenix powers in the region, but they must first protect a fragile eUSA holding.

Spain Takes North of Brazil
On the heels of yesterday’s surprising maneuver, eSpain successfully conquered North of Brazil (No😎 in a heated battle which brought in international forces from both sides. As a result, NoB’s vast resources have now fallen into EDEN’s possession; however, it is not clear yet whether or not eSpain will continue an offensive on other resource-rich regions such as Northeast of Brazil or Center West of Brazil, which are now within striking distance. In the mean time, eBrazil has launched an immediate counterattack on NoB to test eSpain's ability to hold the region and to halt the EDEN power's advance any further. Just as quickly as eSpain came into South America, it could be nullified if EDEN is unable to defend its most recent spoils of war. Phoenix, for its part, is determined to keep a major iron lifeline within its reach at all costs.
Meanwhile, eSpain’s incursion against eFrance was easily blocked and gave way to an eFrench counterattack on the natively eSpanish region of Navarra. eFrance has led the battle in its early stages while the eSpanish were intensely focused on NoB, even though eFrench military orders reflect those of the rest of the New World’s. It remains to be seen how this front may change with NoB’s closure.

ePoland has moved from Saxony (squared) onto two new eGerman targets
(circled), while eItaly has entered the fray and attacked eGermany from the south

Poland Continues Invasion of Germany, Italy Joins
In their war with eGermany, ePoland has built off its early success in conquering Saxony by launching a new attack on neighboring Saxony-Anhalt minutes after, at 06:58 on Day 1071. At 10:10, ePoland continued by attacking Brandenburg and Berlin, a high grain region. Brandenburg and Berlin was previously ePoland’s source of high grain during its previous occupation of eGermany, before the EDEN power was allowed to rent several eUSA regions and account for its high grain and other needs in that fashion. Similar to the Saxony battle, ePoland appears comfortably in the lead on both fronts and will likely roll their war machine deeper into eDeutschland on Day 1072.
Separately, eItaly opened their own front against eGermany from the south by attacking Bavaria as well as one of the few remaining eAustrian regions of Upper Austria. Bavaria is receiving eItaly’s highest priority and is part of an unofficial Operazione Sacro Romano Imperio (Operation Holy Roman Empire). To what extent eItaly will cooperate with ePoland in Germany is unclear, although it appears that both EDEN-aligned nations are enjoying great success on this front in its early days.

Attempted RWs on natively ePortuguese regions are underway, although several have failed

Portugal Remains Occupied as Resistance Wars Campaign Fails
An organized RW campaign in ePortugal backfired on Days 1070-1071, as five RWs against eSpanish possessions and territories occupied by the eUSA all failed or were poised to be suppressed. Along with eRussia, these two Phoenix states have remained completely occupied and now have open citizenship, which leaves both countries ripe for political takeover (PTO) and meddling in these countries’ politics.

Eastern Thailand (circled) is the only eUSA region in Southeast
Asia, and the eUSA is in danger of being shut out entirely.

USA Position in Southeast Asia Threatened, Australia Takes Control of Its Congress
The war in Southeast Asia has received less international attention since eSerbia was successful last week in splitting SE Asia from India by returning control of Southern Thailand to the eThais. For that reason, Day 1071’s RW of Eastern Thailand (ET) may have gone relatively unnoticed; however, if the resistance wins back control of the region, the eUSA will be shut out of SE Asia for the time being, unless it declared war on eThailand and attacked Southern Thailand in the next couple of days. Any attempts of monkey business against eIndonesia or eSerbia’s overseas territories would be made irrelevant if eUSA control of ET was lost.
The loss of ET would come at an inopportune time, especially as EDEN ally eAustralia has claimed victory in their elections over an eIndonesian PTO group known as the Angel and Demon group. With the return of a friendly Congress and the anticipation of a friendly President not being far for eAustralia, the eUSA could have a reenergized ally in their SE Asian campaign. That being said, however, the entire issue could become irrelevant if the eUSA is shut out from the region. Very likely, both allies would need to work together to have a chance at removing eSerbia and eIndonesia in the first place.

Closing
eSpain's success in NoB is impressive, but it leaves more questions than it answers. Will eSpain advance further? Can it secure the region? How will Phoenix react? The same goes for the situation in Southeast Asia, as the coming days will reveal whether or not any campaign against eSerbia and eIndonesia is feasible, or if the Phoenix powers will successfully protect themselves. Time will tell...

God Bless America,
