Historic Day Underway as Spain Attacks North of Brazil, Day 1070

The events of Day 1070 should bring back nostalgic memories for veteran players, as EDEN's attacks on eGermany, the eUK, and North of Brazil should recall major battles and campaigns which took place over 250 days ago-- or nearly one quarter of the history of the New World. While these new events are of high interest, what will ultimately resonate through eRepublik is how these battles close on Day 1071.

Spain Attacks France, North of Brazil
Day 1070 gave way to major military developments emanating from the Iberian Peninsula, as eSpain opened two fronts within five minutes of each other against eFrance and eBrazil. While the battle against eFrance at Languedoc Rousillon is notable because it restarts a traditionally tense conflict between eSpain and eFrance, the trans-Atlantic attack at 12:30 on North of Brazil (No😎 is both historic and highly significant. On a material level, NoB holds high iron and high stone, along with medium stone and medium titanium. It is a key region for eBrazil in general, and Phoenix now more than ever, since EDEN has occupied eRussia and denied Phoenix a potential alternative country for mineral wealth. Depending on the pace of battle, it could be EDEN’s first serious attempt to take NoB in over 9 months, when ePoland and ePeru came just short in taking NoB on Days 813-814. As any historical front would be, the battle for NoB has been fiercely and evenly contested, and has dominated the New World’s attention for the next several hours; for obvious reasons, eSpain and eBrazil have both given NoB their highest priority to either attack or defend the region.

Poland Reopens Historic Front on Germany
In a battle which is every bit as historical, ePoland has crossed the Oder-Niesse Line and attacked neighboring eGermany’s Saxony alongside eSpain’s offensive. The ePoles have reopened the front and may be attempting to reconquer their historic neighbor, which the EDEN superpower last accomplished on Day 781. Considering eSpain’s attack on a much more important region, this reignited front could be an attempted damage drain, although ePoland vastly outsizes and overpowers the eGermans and may be attempting to make gains on this front as well.

This map from Day 803 shows that eCanada has attacked Scotland before, but it remains to be seen whether eCanada’s Day 1070 attack will be followed by other allies’ own invasions.

Canada Invades Scotland
Day 1070 also saw the rekindling of a mainland invasion of the eUnited Kingdom, as eCanada opted to invade Scotland. eCanada’s actions come on the heels of a propaganda campaign which had been threatening the eUK with invasion while drumming up eCanadian support for the maneuver. On a more strategic and historical level, this front could play a significant role later, as an eCanadian attack on Scotland previously portended a wider EDEN invasion of the British Isles. As this battle preceded the eSpanish and ePolish attacks on Day 1070, it is unlikely that it was opened solely to divert damage. To be sure, the eUK consider this to be a legitimate threat, and have encouraged its citizenry to fight in Scotland and repel the invasion. Although the eUK failed to keep eCanada out of the British Isles, a counterattack of Scotland was started shortly after Day 1071, to attempt to force the EDEN aggressor back across the Atlantic.

The Way Ahead
The New World has some fun in store, and has achieved it by opening up the history books and reinvigorating some of the most exciting and contentious fronts in eRepublik history. Whether you are Phoenix or EDEN-affiliated, you cannot deny that a new wave of excitement is a good thing for eRepublik as a whole.
