Give me Liberty or Give me Death! - Foreign Affairs

Day 1,536, 00:29 Published in Switzerland Switzerland by Monsieur Guillontine

Salut madams and monsieurs!

Let me address the current foreign affairs of Switzerland. As many of you know, we have recently just signed the Geneva Treaty with Slovenia. This deal is by far a blessing which we would be ignorant to ignore and not uphold. The agreement is beneficial to both Switzerland and Slovenia for several reasons. Slovenia is able to receive their needed bonuses, and make sure that a possible threat is out of their way. Switzerland on the other hand, is able to keep regions without having to continuously fight. Terra and Eden have both proven to be helpful allies, however, at the end of the day, it is understandable that they will have more important priorities, thus conflicting with Switzerland's interests. The treaty allows for Switzerland to remain neutral, and therefore the ability to sign Mutual Protection Pacts is less restricted compared to previous treaties. Lastly, for the first time in Swiss history, Slovenia is paying us the rent fee for Deutschschweiz and Svizzera Italiana, which will net our nation 50 GOLD per month.

In addition to upholding the treaty, I strongly believe that it is in our best interest to remain as close to Italy as possible. Because they are in a similar situation as us, it only makes sense to cooperate when necessary, especially when there are threats of invasion, or other conflicts. Our other neighbors, Austria, France, and Germany, should also not be forgotten. It is vital for our government to have constant contact with these nations because as they directly influence the balance of our surrounding region, it would be foolish to upset them. Therefore, we shall also work closely with these nations and provide aid when needed.

Therefore, through a neutral foreign policy, Switzerland will be able to play our cards correctly, whether it is through peace or war, but always work toward what is best for Switzerland, given the certain situation. It is with my hope that my previous experience in foreign affairs will help me guide Switzerland in a time where we are about to boom with progress and prosperity.

Give me Liberty, or Give me Death!

Yours Truly,
Monsieur Guillontine
President of Switzerland
