Give me Liberty or Give me Death! - Summary

Day 1,537, 08:37 Published in Switzerland Switzerland by Monsieur Guillontine

I have but one lamp by which my feet are guided, and that is the lamp of experience.

~ Orator and politician Patrick Henry

My dear children,

Just like Patrick Henry said, I feel exactly the same. I have experienced much while serving my first term as President of Switzerland, and when I look back on the decisions I made, I am content to know that I did my best, and acted on behalf of what I felt was the correct thing to do. Although I might have done this or that a little differently, I am certain that it was the best choice anyone would make.

And so, this is the last time I will be able to write to you before the elections. It is up to you, as a citizen of Switzerland, to decide who you would like to lead our nation. Choose who you think can handle the responsibility of such an important task. Before you do make up your mind however, I would like to summarize my final goals to accomplish if I am honored enough to be elected as Swiss president for the new year which has just arrived.

Recap of my Program

Strong independent Switzerland
Continue Switzerland's neutral status
Ensure the success of the Geneva Treaty with Slovenia
Increase good relations with our neighbors Austria, France, Germany, and Italy
Reform Switzerland’s military coordination
Create a budget for expenditures from the Swiss Confederation Bank

And so, now that you know my goals I would like to achieve as president, please consider voting for me! I am very satisfied with my first term, and I know that if you are willing to re-elect me, my second term will help Switzerland progress even more! Only then, will we be able to run up the stairs, where not even the sky can stop us.

Give me Liberty, or Give me Death!

Yours Truly,
Monsieur Guillontine
President of Switzerland
