[Boh] A Symphony of War - Part 3: ROLA v TWO?

Day 2,044, 19:17 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Bohemond4

Dear friends, readers and waynekerr

Welcome to the third part of my current series, A Symphony of War this time covering the events in the bottom of the world, notably the Mexican War, Spain's sitting out and Argentina's four fronts. We will also take a short look at the entry of Australia and New Zealand into ACT and what this means for the entire Far Eastern theatre with relation to Chile, although this will be covered more indepth in A Symphony of War Part 4: Kangaroos, Kiwis and Dragons. Finally I will finish with a note about the eUK's airstrike fund.

A Symphony of War
A Symphony of War Part 1: A Clash of Eagles
A Symphony of War Part 2: The Lion and Airstrikes

Unbowed, Undefeated
This phrase relates to Argentina who recently faced down a 4 front invasion of their core regions by Chile, Brazil, Peru and Paraguay all nations belonging to ROLA and, with the exception of Brazil, CoT. They were supported in their efforts by Spain and Mexico the last two members of ROLA which is a mutual defence grouping of South American nations only excluding Colombia, Uruguay, Argentina, Bolivia and Venezuala.

Despite this concerted invasion Argentina managed to push back on all fronts wiping Paraguay and, with the help of Colombia, Peru while holding their own against Chile and Brazil. The two smaller nations were unable to gain Congress this month as a consequence.

As we know, Argentina is the largest nation currently as a result of a babyboom at the expense of the United Kingdom in April. Ironically, this has turned into a good thing for TWO with a powerhouse in South America draining much needed damage from CoT. In essence, therefore, this has become a positive for our alliance, and, therefore, our nation.

CoT relies heavily on night damage to pull battles to victory as they are unable to best TWO during the European daytime due to the large concentration of powerful nations whose damage comes into play during the day. Therefore the drain that Argentina, and, importantly, the successes, they have bleeds vital CoT damage from their smaller allies and reduces the havoc that they can cause with supporting RW in Europe eliminating a valuable support point from the USA. Currently, the only major night time CoT Power left un-threatened from TWO or TWO's allies is Indonesia who rule over large parts of Australia one of the newest members of ACT.

How can CoT avoid this damage drain? The answer is, really, they cannot unless they can gain more powerful allies, such as China, or bring in Euro-day time allies, such as Romania, Croatia and Turkey each of which has their own issues I will discuss in A Symphony of War Part 5: Of Sheikhs and Emirs. At this point in time, CoT faces a grim out look with only one sliver of brightness in this theatre.

Silver Lining
There are two bright spots, though, for CoT. While they keep Argentina and Columbia pinned down they deny TWO valued night damage which TWO lacks overall, though they have made inroads into Australia and China. Without this night damage there is a parity returned to the night where CoT can win victories and fronts pushing back and re-gaining territory, and, if they can somehow seize initiative, they can open in CoT prime time pushing hard against TWO.

The other bright spot for ROLA especially is that Spain has signed many MPPs with these nations as part of this alliance. Now, Spain is a key member of TWO, the question everyone is asking is whether or not Spain will leave this alliance in favour of their ROLA friends, or, whether they will just aim for status quo in South America. My personal opinion is that Spain would rather see TWO rule South America than not, however, should TWO fail or collapse, they would rather maintain a status quo of pre-eminent Chile/Brazil/Mexico over Argentina/Columbia.

I do not think CoT should take heart from Spain's actions, as they are self-serving and designed to only help ROLA after Spain as they recognise an important fact: TWO rules and Spain is overstretched. They know its time to hold their borders and so, if TWO cannot take South America, then an alliance with ROLA is the only way forward.

Of Kangaroos and Kiwis
While I will continue this discussion in my next article I will briefly mention that their moving to TWO officially and the removal of Chile from Australia marks the end of Chile's overseas Empire. While this removes a drain war while they fight Argentina it is also symbolic of the failings of CoT to succeed in the face of TWO aggression. It also means that the balance of power is starting to shift in the Far East and Indonesia should start to worry.

Airstrikes
Since my last article we have increased our readiness for an airstrike, something which I think we should use at least once. So please, donate to our airstrike and lets be ready eUK!

tl;dr?
- TWO stronk
- Argentina v ROLA is bad for CoT
- Spain is loyal to TWO, but self-serving
- Australia/NZ shows the failings of CoT
