Not the Hammer; The Anchor

Day 1,017, 22:28 Published in Ireland Japan by Donovan Thomas

Without Further ado… here is The Anchor... (since Nith is lagging with The Hammer). I’ll most likely not be as hard hitting as Nith’s Hammer, but you know an anchor will always get to the bottom! (Get it? Anchor? Bottom? Forget it…)

First on Deck:

5n4keyes – Saoirise
[Goals: Pop+5%, GDP + 5%, DON'T ATTACK ANYONE!]
Snake is so old, sometimes I think he tempted Eve himself and though I believe in respect for one’s elders, I also believe there comes a time to take away their driver’s license, hand them some sweet tea and park ‘em on the porch with the hound dog.

Snake is somewhat of a mystery to me. When I was born, he was mostly a troll. I didn’t understand his past, his seven hundred times as CP in Beta or how many times he was Earl of Boxty (or some such, I’m too young to remember when there were Mayors). I thought he was a bit of an ass until he returned to ‘Active Duty’ per se. Since then I have seen him as a mostly centered individual who made a good run at being a non-conformist while still appeasing the masses. A very fine line indeed...

Snake's résumé speaks for its self. Accomplished business tycoon, Old School Military Tank, Fourteen time TD and all around, unquestionably qualified.

But I don’t know him. Perhaps because I have never been a member of one the parties he was in, perhaps because I am so quiet and withdrawn (Wait...What???) but no matter how you slice it, I know nothing about him.

Snake isn’t much of a talker. He puts out enough updates for me, but I have no idea what Snake is planning and thinking. I don’t know what makes him tick (or tic for that matter).

Hell... I cant even write any more... (and I have a hard time shutting up)

So Snake get’s the sexy thumb (Shout out to Bill Shakespeare!).

Second on Deck:

Octavious Dryst – Irish Union Party

[Goals: Pop+7%, GDP + 5%, DON'T ATTACK ANYONE!]
[Post Edit]
I'm very saddened to see that OD is receiving ill gotten votes to further his cause since regular means yielded him few honest votes on his original release. By the Candidates own admission, these are from Jster without payment, though Jster was offered a Cabinet position... presumably after Oct's first Article which languished until the Jster explosion. I'll leave what I wrote as it was. You be the judge.

(Yeah, if you haven't noticed, that's Vader on a Horse.) Oct is a tough one and the main reason I almost didn’t write this article. Oct and I are friends from way back. We haven’t always agreed, haven’t always got along and as most people who have real friends, that is how it should be. I know Oct is trustworthy, I know he is intelligent and will try his best. I know he is dedicated etc, etc.

But I don’t know that Oct is ready. Now don’t get me wrong, Oct is one hell of an administrator and manager. I know that he will pick the right people to fill the right positions and listen to their council while in the end knowing he is the one to decide.

All you could ask for right?

Prior to the following paragraph I shall correct myself at The Candidate's behest (and extend the same privilege to any Candidate) According to Oct, he has served as;

"Ministry positions of Information, Industry, New Citizens, and Education. I also served under Patton through multiple administrations as an aide."

But I am taken to pause by two things… Oct is missing some prerequisites in my book. He’s been MoInfo (I think he relieved me in that role, I could be wrong) and has been a TD twice. I know that he has ran many more times than two. His military career has not been up to snuff for me… and as a Hard Line Military Man, that is a big Prereq. While it is true that Oct has tried to beef up that part of his resume (he volunteered and was selected as my XO for Na Fianna; sadly it was disbanded before he could assume his duties) it is still lacking. Now if Oct was a MoFA a couple times, MoF, MoD, CoS, etc I would chalk him right up to the top.

I know he has been an incredibly strong force within his party and kudos for that. But for me that means jack and squat for CP. I’m independent and I just cant abide dyed in the wool partisanship (not saying Oct is that way, just saying don’t tell me about his work in IUP).

I just want Oct to lead a little more and manage less. I know he will do his best and give his all… I’m just not sure that is what eIreland needs right now.

So, Oct, my friend, it is with the truest and most blatant honesty of friendship that I give you…

The Kanye

Third on Deck:
[Error, No Pic... Dude made a mistake]

Ivan Blair – Irish Freedom Party
[Goals: J/K]
From his shout - “I am not running for CP, this is merely a glitch that I'm having worked out. Please spread the word. IFP places it's support behind Dryst" 2 days ago

Ain't there a quit button? Work that out man… someone will vote for you regardless, and that muddies the mix.

For you, a wee little wrong button

Fourth on Deck:

Dubhthaigh – Labor
[Goals: Couldn't be arsed to click those buttons]
Dubh and I have a strange, strangled and strained relationship. We have worked together on many things, and share many real life interests and hobbies. I think our respect for one another is only challenged by our wariness. We have both always held each other gravely accountable for past mistakes. We’ve both made a few. But since Dubh is running for CP and not me, I get to snipe him.

Before the list I’ll say, I know Dubh cares and would do a great job if he could overcome the following.

1. Thinking he could go it alone and not listen to sound advice let alone open threats.

2. Listen to the voice of the people rather than the voice in his head and not, well… see #1.

3. If Dubh had given us all the finger, taken his ball and went home to ANY other Country than eUK at the time he did with Gleb and John Jay [no hyperlinks for traitors], I would have stood at Aerfort Bhaile Átha Cliath with open arms, a fat spliff, some Myoplex Pancakes and an Ipod loaded with good old Pink Floyd when he returned. But he ran to the Queen (I mean it MAN!).

Duffy, I love you man. From one emotional SOB to another, I'm not ready to do this again. Come out of the shadows a bit, mea culpa yourself a little more and get rid of that damn signature homo-erotic beefcake on the forums.

(I'm with Castaneda in my sincere worry that Dubh has not changed, but merely learned to silence the anger...)

Dubby? You get:

Suicide Colbert

The best for Last

Nogin the Nog – Economic Free Thinkers Society
[Goals: Pop+3%, GDP + 3%, Can we assume NI by her mentioning CNTRL 1 new Territory? FUN!]
You would think that someone who counts the most feared Bean-Sidhe in eIreland (Gráinne) as his friend and mentor would make quick work of Nogin.

Not so.

Nogin is a conundrum to me but in a different way than Snake. Nogin has, since my day of e-birth remained steadfast in her dedication, unwavering in her loyalty and razor sharp in her commentary. Nogin counts among her friends some of the best minds in eIreland and the eWorld abroad. Her ability to dissect the truth of a situation makes her to me, eIreland's Scalpel;

A person who shall cut through the bullshit of bureaucracy leaving only the succulent fat-free meat of success. Nogin is willing to work across party lines with the best of the best while engendering a true belief that even the youngest of the young have a voice and a say.

I dare say that Nogin is The Person eIreland needs most Now. She is a fearsome warrior, perhaps the most talented Entrepreneur on the Isle, and above all, a level headed and so very competent Leader.

Yes. I am a member of Nogin’s “party” but as any member of EFTS will tell you, I could just as easily still be in IV, or if eRep would let me, with no party at all, for I make my own decisions of my own accord. I don't toe the party line.

I was called to that party by the sheer honesty of the call its self…

“The goal of this party is just simply to improve Ireland. To do this we will work together on one problem a month , sort of like a think tank. We will do research, propose a plan of action, and use our experience and positions in government to influence change to enact improvement. This work will happen on our forum and all team members will contribute as much or as little as they can to that months project.”

That is care for eIreland. That is dedication. That is pure selfless love of country. That is what eIreland needs.

Nogin, you get…

The Spidey Kiss, for I believe that only you can unmask the Hero (or Heroine) inside eIreland…

Yours,
Respectfully...
