The USMilitary Challenge Coin III Presentation

The USAirborne's newest newspaper, Death From Above, is proud to present the third installment of the USMilitary Challenge Coins series.
If you're unfamiliar with Challenge Coins or this program, please refer to these previous articles:

Today we spotlight our Noncoms-- Non-commissioned Officers; Specialists, Corporals, and Sergeants-- who have earned rank promotions through their extra efforts in their Platoons and Divisions.
These soldiers are the workhorses of our USMilitary branches, serving as the first rung in the Chain of Command when a Recruit or Private needs help. They serve as guides and counselors, Quartermasters and teachers, basically taking on any question or challenge that comes before them.

Not all of today's honorees are Noncoms, though. The USMilitary has some damn fine Officers and Enlisteds, and we're not shy of recognizing them for their extraordinary value to the organization.

Please be sure to see the Announcements section, below, for a word on today's prize disbursement.

USTraining Corps

In the Training Corps, Platoon Executive Officers are Master Sergeants.
In all USMilitary branches, a Platoon XO helps his CO get new soldiers settled in and set on the right track, maintains progress spreadsheets, helps to maintain OPSEC (Operational Security), and fills in when the Platoon CO is not available.

In nominating Master Sergeant Brad Gwatney, 2nd Lieutentant Sirmark17 tells us, "I first took notice of Brad's high IRC activity when he was in the 321st Platoon, the Titans. Inquiries to other officers led to an interview, where I was impressed by his strength of character and personal manner, which are basic characteristics of leadership. As a result, he was appointed to Platoon XO of the 311th with the rank of Master Sergeant."

USMobile Infantry

USMoblie Infantryman Private Kfitzy has served as a Section Officer, Platoon CO and XO, attaining as high a rank as Major.
In nominating Private Kfitzy, General AutumnsDawn tells us, "Kfitzy is a student, preparing for college. As such, his game time has been reduced and he's requested lighter duty in order to focus on his studies. This has allowed us to train and place suitable replacements rather than being left hanging. His sense of responsibility to his fellow soldiers is highly commendable."

USNational Guard

USNational Guardsman Lieutenant Joshua C Allen is nominated by Division 1 Executive Officer Lt. Colonel Jack Mensley, who says, "Josh really is great. He always keeps the chat alive and entertaining. He is also always one of the first to step up to help do anything that needs to be done."

Lt. Colonel Jack Mensley tells us, "Private Acid Snow served as our Commanding Officer for Division 1 until recently. He was always willing to step up and help with anything extra I needed him to do. He helped out with supply on many occasions and kept Division 1 running smoothly."

Acid is another example of a player who understands his responsibility to his fellow soldiers, requesting to step down when RL requires his time and attention. It's quite a sacrifice, giving up hard earned brass, but a good soldier does what's best for his comrades at all times.

USArmy

A Nomination by former CJCS and retired USArmy Commanding General, USArmy Ranger NXNW carries a lot of weight.
Of Lieutenant Colonel RedbirdUSA, NXNW says, "I have known RedbirdUSA for almost two years. Over this period he has grown from being a new player to one of the heavy hitters for the eUSA with dozens of Battle Hero medals to his credit. He is a quiet, friendly member of the team liked and respected by all."
Lt. Col. RedbirdUSA serves the USArmy as DCO of the 1st Division.

Fighter First Class Skyna is nominated by 1st Division XO, Lt. Colonel RedbirdUSA.
"Skyna is a great fighter. She has made a 180 degree turnaround since joining the USArmy, now she is on top of her game. I am very proud to have her in my Division. She is very good about deployment and she gets bitchy if she doesn’t get her moving tickets on time.

USAirborne

USAirborne General Cyber Witch nominates one of our South African imports.
Sergeant Mr. Wet serves in the 1st Platoon of the 82nd Airborne, under Lt. Ruthain. "Mr. Wet is what we call a very persistent soldier. He applied 4 times to the Airborne before he was finally accepted. The other times he did not quite meet requirements. He worked his way up to Sgt in a relatively short time due to hard work and activity. He has a fabulous newspaper with in depth articles in his newspaper, The Wet Gazette. He is the current President of eSouth Africa (shhh), has extensive military experience, and will one day make a great General.

USMarine Corps

The USMarine Corps does not have any Noncom ranks. Marines are Private First Class or they are Officers. Nonetheless, there's always extra work to be done, and there's always a Marine PFC stepping up to do it.

Private First Class Ian John Locke IV is nominated by Lieutenant John Jay, CO of Bravo Company's 2nd Platoon. This Dog Soldier has been a Marine for two years and is active in the American Military Party. "The Douche," as he is affectionately known, ran a lulz campaign for POTUS in March which was featured in a parody article, Early Presidential Candidates Square Off.
As serious about RL as his game, "IJLIV" is a college student, majoring in Computer Geekology, and has recently applied those skills to developing a program to assist Marine Quartermasters in their duties.

Joint Chiefs of Staff

Advisor to the Joint Chiefs of Staff Jankems
Currently serving with the USMarine Corps, Private First Class Jankems served as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff before Bradley Reala and after NXNW, overseeing a period of growth and evolution of our USMilitary.
He also founded the USNational Guard and served as its Commanding General.

NXNW tells us, "Jankems is renown for his ability to lay down serious battlefield damage and his love of banana liquor. 'The Great Ape' is a warrior praised by allies and feared by enemies."
XO of the Marines Lt. General Cstarlight21 adds, "He is very wise and caring. He has been such an inspiration for me. He is an incredible guide, and he is always so supportive and encouraging. I would be lost in this game without him. He is an amazing person."

Please join the USAirborne's Death From Above and USMilitary Command and Staff Officers in a simple demonstration of our appreciation for the personnel honored today, and snap off a sharp o7 salute in the Comments thread of this article.
Congratulations, soldiers-- you friggin' rock!

Announcements:

If I got any names, ranks, or other details wrong, please let me know via game mail.

I did my best to make up the shortfall and match last week's Challenge Coin II give-away, totaling 720 Q5 tanks, but was not able to cover the difference.

Today's honorees will receive fifteen Q5 tanks each.
However, conservative and responsible stewardship of donated assets dictates that we focus our philanthropic attention on the Challenge Coin honorees and other individual USMilitary personnel through these give-away events.
Therefore, while we honor every USMilitary branch just as much as ever, our appreciation cannot be expressed in bulk quantities of tangible goods at this time.

Send donations of your excess production or cash overflow directly to me, I do keep track and don't use them for myself. I'll acknowledge your contribution in the paper, and I give tanks to USMilitary soldiers and branches. Pretty straightforward proposition.

Recent Payouts:
Today's Challenge Coins III presentation of 15 Q5 tanks to nine USMilitary soldiers.. 135 tanks.
Wednesday's Movie Night contest netted 50 Q5 tanks for each of our USMilitary branches, totaling 300 free tanks to the troops.
Only seven Q5 tanks were given out with Tuesday's B-17 history lesson.

Kinda gets ya... right there... don' it?

Recent Donations:
Thursday, John Killah sent in $500, and DeathAndDestruction donated $400.
Jack O'Connor donated $546 on behalf of the New California Republic Party.
Boone has donated 1 gold.
Give till it hurts... we know it hurts more this week than last.

Finally, a personal Thank You to Kolv1k for financing the building of a new Q3 RM and a second Q1 Food Co for me, plus laying a stack of Q2 weapons on me. This boost will help me get in a second round of fights daily, beyond my Airborne rations used in a first round of fights.

If you want to join the any branch of the USMilitary, the Training Corps is the place to start.

Here's the USAirborne application. Minimum Strength 1800; Barehanded Hit 800; High Activity
