The PANAM Alliance and what is next for Ireland?

ALLIANCE CHANGES

Many of you may have heard that recently several nations formally resigned from the Phoenix Alliance. These were namely SERBIA, HUNGARY, BRAZIL and TURKEY. Some of these changes have been in the works for some time (such as Brazil) and maybe Turkey but Serbia and Hungary came as a big surprise.

AN END TO PHOENIX?

While Hungary, Serbia, Turkey and Brazil make up a huge part of the Phoenix muscle, the alliance is, as yet,not dead. Many nations have pledged to continue supporting their allies regardless of changes. The loss of these 4 nations though is a crippling blow to the once proud super-alliance and many feel that in its current form the Phoenix Alliance cannot continue.

THE PANAM ALLIANCE

A new Alliance was formed between the US and Brazil. It is called the PANAM alliance and will attempt to consolidate its power in the western hemisphere. This is the Youtube video of the PANAM CHARTER

According to sources Canada is currently voting on a proposal to join PANAM. Japan has also been included in talks but rumor is that in order for the deal to work Brazil would want to include South Africa. Japan's inclusion is mostly related to the region renting by the US in Shikoku and Chubu. Nowhere yet have I seen Ireland mentioned, in fact a Brazilian article balk at our potential inclusion solely based on US region renting.

Argentina was rumored to be joining PANAM but this article out of ARGENTINA seems to point against it. PANAM has also made overtures to Spain and France (to some degree) but nothing solid as of yet.

Other Latin nations has expressed their disapproval of PANAM, the US and Brazil. This includes MEXICO and PERU. In fact, PANAM policy toward many of these small nations is that they are part of the alliance regardless of their personal persuasion and the alliance can claim any of their regions that they need/want.

WHAT ABOUT EDEN?

Is EDEN dead? The simple answer seems to be yes. Not only has the PANAM movement dealt EDEN a blow but the blossoming relationship between a Phoenix-less Hungary and globe dominating Poland is also a concern. A potential alliance including these two world powers is said to be in the works and would be "regionally based" and would most likely be centered around Poland-Serbia-Hungary to form an Eastern Bloc. Rumor is that Turkey favors this type of alliance.

Many EDEN nations are waiting for the proverbial chips to fall before choosing sides. Nations such as Spain and France are likely to be heavily solicited by all sides while Indonesia and the Scandinavian nations might not find a new alliance for weeks and months to come.

Should this Eastern Bloc form nations such as Romania, Croatia, BiH and Greece would become natural allies but much of Europe and Asia could potentially be excluded. Small nations are a detriment to alliances due to the new war rules.

WHAT ABOUT THE UK?

In THIS ARTICLE our friend Mr. Woldy explained the the UK might need time to sort out where it stands. He hopes to continue their friendship with former PHX nations such as Serbia and potential reconcile relations with Spain, Sweden and Ireland. He fears a Polish-led alliance more so than a US-led one. Hopes are high that a Eruo alliance might be created in western Europe that would work with PANAM to fight against the power of a Serb-Pole-Hungarian alliance.

WHERE DOES THAT LEAVE IRELAND

Things really have not changed that much for Ireland as a whole. We are still on the outside looking in. We still have great friends in the US, Canada and Croatia. Currently there is no EDEN alliance to join., I assume we will try to join PANAM for the time being.

With the new rule changes small countries, such as us, are actually toxic to powerful alliances (for the time being) Ireland should be able to maintain its current MPP's but should not expect any major alliance to come calling. We should, however, use this time to build friendships with former PHX and EDEN nations in preparation for the future. I think that this includes the UK. We may actually be heading into a period of neutrality, at least until all the alliances are set.
