The Global Baby Boom
Modelcon
If you read the foreign news as much as I do, you'll find that there's suddenly a giant increase of articles instructing new players on how to succeed in their respective countries. Curious, I checked out the country pages of several countries, including Japan, USA and Canada.
In a small sampling of these three countries, the New Citizens today category was astounding. Japan today got about 30 citizens, while it would normally get about 5. But think about this: the USA just got 513 citizens. That is ASTOUNDING, considering that Japan, albeit a small country, has 539 citizens. Think about the long term consequences of doubling your population in a day...
Through deeper research, I discovered that level 0 jobs in several countries were nearly non-existent. That's right. There are now so many workers that we cannot deal with them. Isn't this amazing?
Obviously, the admins have stepped up their advertising drive. I first discovered this game not from any friends (partly because I have none), but from a website. The creators of eRep are heavily advertising in North American countries, evidently Canada and USA. I do not belief that they are the work of multies, as GLaDOS suggests. Citizens don't all just pick one day to start making multies.
A major purpose of this article is to greet newcomers. To succeed in eRep, you cannot be shy. Make as many meaningful and well thought out comments on every article you can get your hands on. Merely reporting your presence with a "voted, subscribed" would alert the community of your existence. For more on how to succeed, my colleague, humble eJapan citizen Kogarashi Hazuki has written an informative article here, Welcome to Japan.
Another purpose of this article is to seek out any Chinese that are residing here in Japan. Please, tell me if you're interested in liberating China, and I'll send you further instructions.
As usual, your faithful correspondent cherishes your votes, and ask that you do subscribe. Also, remember to say something on articles! It's the best way to get started in this game.
May the glorious motherland triumph!

I opened up a lot of 0 Skill jobs and added about 70 yen to the salary. I really dont expect to hold on to them of course but the lack of 0 Skill was apparent so thats why I opened up about 10 slots which all of them filled at 7 JPY each. I just hope i could give them a good start so they can make it in this glorious nation of ours.
this seems rather fishy...possibly a ton of multis
expect large amounts of worldwide bans
Er... correction.
I am not eJapan Secretary of Education.
I am just nothing but humble eJapan citizen. :3

Also the baby boom had started from yesterday (More than 24 hours ago).
My source say something about eRep ads in several big US/Canada site is one of the reason this happens.
Haha,
I need to do some corrections and fact checking.
I'll also say something about the admins in this.
Sure. Some contacts in foreign countries mentioned that populations were way up these past *few* days. No real explanation for it, yet.
I think a lot are multies, but at least 80% I believe are real people.
Would be nice to see a few comments from one of those 80-90 citizens that joined. That might convince me of them being real, but i still think most, at least here in Japan, are multies.
The population of the US is hovering around 10,000, even surpassing it for a while! I've only noticed one other article (other than my own) offering advice to newbies.

Pyro, you're American. Are you getting more info than us? Can you confirm whether eRep is vamping up its advertising? Well I'm in Pennsylvania, and eRep hasn't been active in any of the websites I circulate.
Just an hour or two ago, Walorm found an eRep advertisement on the front page of Kongregate, one of the most popular flash game sites. That alone might account for the pop boost.
leave GD 2 and 3 we need the peeps 🙂 lol
I know that advertisements have been circulating alot. There is this website, which alotta people tune in to read. That website was the reason that i found erepublic in the first place.
And starting 3 days ago this game has been posting ads on onemanga when people read manga. tens of thousands in northamerica goes to that website...
Ouch. I hope they aren't targeting specific country sites at all, or power might just get even more unbalanced in this game.
well it already are and its gonna be more and more unfair because first of all. As some of you has already noticed, the reason that bush remaind in office for so long is that he always is making up new reasons for war.
When he first took office he started the war on terror, which, as some people noticed brought alot of attention from the people. And he was only removed from office because the wars dragged out for so long that it started damaging the economy and made people wonder wonder what is it really that they are fighting for.
sorry wasn't precise, he united the people to face an threat which might not be real. and because of the unique game play of this game.(based/played in english and targeting most of the north american websites) this might stimulate patriotism from the players.
"And starting 3 days ago this game has been posting ads on onemanga when people read manga. tens of thousands in northamerica goes to that website..."
No wonder Japan got such great number of people than Usual. Looks like erepublik advertising stuff were able to do the job that we, the Japanese citizens, Could not do; To advertise in site or place where people who visits them have interest in Japan or Japanese culture.
A solution for the lack of 0 skill jobs may be creating or adapting state companies as "school companies"... I don't know if that would be profitable, though...
So they are running a pro-Japan advertisement campaign? Sounds good! 😛
"To advertise in site or place where people who visits them have interest in Japan or Japanese culture."
Yes, you are right. (i have interest in Japanese culture, i move from Portugal to eJapan from that reason too)

But the only thing about that is that the advertisements on onemanga is very indecisive... They crammed a bunch of ads into the website so no one know what kind of ads will pop up. They got everything from places to read manga, to MMORPG games and browser games... So even if the game pops up no one would really pay much attention...
Well it was better than nothing. 🙂
Btw, had you join eJapan forum Evageline?

If you noticed the counter on the homepage, total citizens in the eWorld jumped in the thousands within days. A more likely explanation for this explosion is a broken citizen counter. Some other people were complaining about it.
^ Nay. It's been confirmed several times that these advertisements are around the internet and are working. Ask some of the new citizens how they found eRep and they'll tell you.
Well, it would seem I'm right on the cusp of this baby boom, and perhaps my insight could be somewhat useful. I joined, not from any advertising per-se, but from idle browsing of wikipedia. There is a list on that said tome of information of browser based online games, and while waiting for a HDD to copy, I picked up erepublik as the most interesting one on the list. I am glad I did, but it would seem a terribly competitive time to have done so.
My purpose for moving into eJapan was one of interest in the culture (No, not anime, don't give me that look) I spent three weeks or so this summer in real Japan, and loved it. The country is something I can get behind.
The one in wikipedia is quite old actually.
I had seen that one at least from 3 months ago.
I heard there's been advertising on some game sites in the North America. For couple of days there's been lots new citizens in countries like Canada, USA, UK and Australia. I'm glad to hear that has had an effect on Japan too.
