Surrender - Where To Next?

Day 2,157, 19:14 Published in USA USA by Gnilraps

Good Night Irene (Mandatory listening)
Day 2156 of the New World
15 October, 2013

If you have not yet read it, here is the President's official statement of surrender along with a copy of the peace treaty just passed by congress.

And so it ends.

If you have not taken the time to sift through the terms of the treaty, here it is in a nutshell:

*eUSA is going to get back everything except for the east coast. We will also get Baja (a valuable Saltpeter region).
*eUSA is going to pay our former enemies 1 Million Dollars.
*Spain, Poland, and eUSA will enjoy a 3 month peace.
*If the treaty is not kept, there are appropriate consequences.

So I am wondering how eUSA feels about it?

I strongly encourage you to write a newspaper article reacting to the surrender and peace treaty. I would like nothing more than to see a slew of articles on this subject.

We here at 16 Shells are quietly pleased with the whole affair. It's no celebration. Admitting defeat is a somber occasion and our heads should dip just low enough to tip our hats to the superior force of our enemy.

But this is no time to slink off into a corner and brood either. We did not lose to an inferior opponent. We were bested by our better.

The real question in my mind is where we are going to go from here. Very soon we will have a country again. This means that when new players join the game, they will not have to start in Nebraska Poland, but in Nebraska eUSA! (Come to think of it, the word "Nebraska" sort of does sound Polish, doesn't it?) Anyway, this is a tremendous benefit to us.

The next three months absolutely must become for us a morale-building time. For these next three months we will live "in a bubble" of protection according to the treaty. So we will not have the distraction of an external enemy to kvetch about.

In other words, what President Frost and Secretary of State Artela have done is shine a very bright spotlight on INTERNAL AFFAIRS.

We do not have a rich history of success in Internal Affairs. Ever since we started throwing our poop at each other over the departure of the eUS Mil from Congressional oversight, we've become fractured in many ways. As much as we've wanted to avoid the petty conflicts of the Balkans (you remember CTRL?), we've become balkanized ourselves.

And if we end up pissing away the next 3 months wrangling over the same stupid bullsh*t as always, we will have wasted 1 Million Dollars and a huge opportunity.

We must work together beginning right now to build a unified eUSA.

But how?

Well, the first thing we need is for RGR and his @ssinine failed mamby pampby cloud of mosquitoes to GTFO. And no, this is not antithetical to the philosophy of "working together". I imagine that there are some in that crowd who would be happy to stay and assimilate/compromise into the new eUSA. But their ringleader is, sadly, irredeemably psychotic and will poison any attempt at accord we might pursue. Even I, in my pie-in-the-sky optimism cannot fathom an eUSA that includes that filth.

And so priority #1 is to do what it takes to dissect his power base and biopsy that disease. I can tell you that there is a plan to do just that and you have already begun to see some of the fruit. AFA has been largely irrelevant lately and is trending downward. Let me be the first to say, albeit somewhat prophetically,

Bye-Bye RGR. You won't be missed.

Second, and more germane to the rest of us rank and file citizens, we must be willing to carry on our public discourse with a little more decorum. I am calling for a 3 month moratorium on inter-party trolling. If you want to disagree with something someone has published, write your own article stating your points as a positive and keep your negative comments brief and to the point.

If you have ever done any Improvisational acting, you learned that the first rule of improv is to AGREE. So if I point my finger at you and say, "I have a gun," you don't say, "No you don't, that's your finger you harebrained ninny." Instead, you say, "Yes, the gun I gave you for your 9th Birthday!" Now you are working together... now you have Improv.

So I am calling on the eUSA community to learn to agree FIRST. Then begin to sort out the nuances of our disagreement with mutual respect and decorum. If you can't, shut up. Now, obviously you’re not always going to agree with everything everyone says. But the Rule of Agreement reminds you to “respect what your partner has created” and to at least start from an open-minded place. Start with a YES and see where that takes you.

Incidentally, the second rule of Improv is to not stop at "yes", but to respond with "yes, and..." You are supposed to agree and then add something of your own. If I start a scene with “I can’t believe it’s so hot in here,” and you just say, “Yeah…” we’re kind of at a standstill. But if I say, “I can’t believe it’s so hot in here,” and you say, “What did you expect? We’re in hell.” Or if I say, “I can’t believe it’s so hot in here,” and you say, “Yes, this can’t be good for the wax figures.” then we're getting somewhere. (I plagiarized this paragraph from Tina Fey)

So we need people to engage in a dialogue which is CONSTRUCTIVE, not simply an onanistic ejaculation of self-satisfying statements. (I wrote that all by myself.)

Third, I want to see those who have departed from eUSA to come home. Put aside your disdain for those who passed a tax you didn't like. Do it for 3 short months. We don't need to spend our every dime on weapons and food defending our homeland. Find a way to afford living here or else run for congress and change the damned tax yourself! But for the love of pete, come home.

And fourth, I am asking every eAmerican to stockpile. Over the next 3 months, don't feel such a strong need to spend every single energy click you've got. Very little is gained in this game by overfighting. So let's scale back our consumption for 3 months and stockpile. Because sooner or later we will have a war again. I want us to be ready.

I realize I don't have any authority to enforce any of this. I am merely suggesting it and urging you to consider climbing on board in a national effort to rebuild.

We simply cannot afford to look the same 3 months from now as we look now. Otherwise it really will jut be Good Night Irene.

You can help by shouting:
