Edit: Tell me in the comments if you can remember when you started reading this article series! 😃

Hello and welcome back to Population statistics. This is a very special edition because it is exactly 1 year since I started publishing these articles. I’ve decided that this edition will look at the stats from the 21st February last year and this year to see how we’ve really changed. I’m going to skip the roundup of events and the baby boom watch because I would be going on and on forever. 😛

If you wanted to read my first ever article. Look here

Votes and Comments are always welcome. Subscribe if you’re new here! If you want to be really awesome you should shout this article out. 😃

If you vote AND comment you get entered into a prize draw (bottom of my article) and can win 1g. It’s not much but it’s all I can afford and gives you one more reason to read these things. 😛

The winner for the year was a tough one to choose. Over the last year we’ve seen erepublik move into Version 2 and which effectively killed off a lot of players. Only 8 of the 60 countries that were in the game at the time have managed to gain citizens since with many other countries losing tons. I’ve chosen Brazil to be winner not only because they rocketed up to first but because they’ve shown time and time again that they can get baby booms and have always been up in the top 10 competing with the likes of Poland and Serbia. When I originally started writing these articles the winner and Loser was supposed to be based upon who did well in regards to new citizens but eventually I moved onto including gains from invasions. I think that because Brazil have managed to managed consistency over the last year it has made them the obvious choice for Winner. Congratulations Brazil! 🙂

The loser for the year should not come as a surprise to many of you. Once again I’m basing this on population figures and not actual conquests in game although my chosen loser has been hit hard by Resistance wars over the last few days. I chose Poland because when I the first article came out they had just had their massive baby boom and France was conquered by them/Spain. Poland had over 60k citizens which is still an erepublik record that hasn’t been beaten to this day (and we’re still far away from reaching figures like that again). As you can see from the table; Poland lose over 47,000 citizens on aggregate this year. That is more than the current top two’s population combined. Though this does look very bad Poland have benefited greatly from their great baby boom with figures showing they can pack a strong punch. I’m sure that we’ll see more Polish baby booms in the weeks and months to come though.

These graphs show the data in the table above in a format easier for the eyes.

- This year only 8 countries “gained” citizens. We’ve never really recovered from V2.
- None of the top 3 of last year are in the top 3 this year.
- The biggest movers in the top 15 over the last year have been Greece (who moved up) and Spain (who moved down). France were wiped when the stats were first taken.
- Hungary, Spain, Serbia and Poland. The core members of NWO; all lost over 9000 citizens in the last year.
- When these stats were first taken; only 2 countries were wiped. Now 6 are.
- Funnily enough one of the countries that were wiped last year is still wiped now. Though the Czech Republic have been on the map from time to time.
- Erepublik has lost 131678 citizens over the last year. Considering that we've gained at least 50000 since the low points of V2 its not rock bottom but still pretty bad. This gives us a contraction of 35.43% which doesn't look good at all.
