1635:Sakoku Edict of 1635 - By an edit, shogun Tokugawa Iemitsu forbids the Japanese to leave the country and to build ships, closing the country to foreign influence.
1793: Birth of Tokugawa Ieyoshi, 12st shogun of the Tokugawa shogunate.
1895:Hsinchu Campaign - During the invasion of Taiwan, the Japanese enter in Hsinchu after small resistance from Formosan militia and Chinese soldiers.
1945: Suicide of Isamu Cho, Japanese general at Okinawa, by seppuku.
1945 Suicide of Mitsuru Ushijima, Japanese general, at Okinawa by seppuku.
1965: Signature of the Treaty on Basic Relations between Japan and the Republic of Korea. It establish basic diplomatic relations.

1582: Death of Shimizu Muneharu, Japanese military leader.
1615: Death of Mashita Nagamori, Japanese warlord.
1908: Death of Kunikida Doppo, Japanese writer.
1960: Birth of Tatsuya Uemura, Japanese arcade game musician and programmer.
1970: Extension of the Nippo-American 1960 security treaty.
2013: Tokyo voters give their support to the economic policies of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe with his party winning a landslide victory in local elections in the capital.

2014: President Aquino on Tuesday endorsed Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s push to amend Japan’s constitution and expand the Japanese role on regional security amid China’s expansionism moves.

1579: Death of Hatano Hideharu, Japanese warlord, the head of Hatano clan and a samurai.
1892: Birth of Shirō Ishii, Japanese war criminal who was in charge of the biological warfare Unit 731.
1902: Birth of Prince Chichibu, younger brother of Emperor Showa (Harihito).
1937: Birth of Obuchi Keizo, Japanese politician and 84th Prime Minister of Japan (1998-2000).
1980: Birth of Nozomi Takeuchi, Japanese gravure idol amd actress.
1986: Birth of Aya Matsuura (Aya Tachibana), Japanese pop singer and actress.
1994: After 9 weeks in power, because the Japan Socialist Party has left his anti-LDP coalition, Japanese premier Tsutomu Hata resigns.
2000: General elections in Japan. The LDP, with 233 representatives on 480, loses the absolute majority, but its alliance keep the majority in the Lower House with 267 members.

699: En no Ozunu, Japanese ascetic and mystic, traditionally held to be the founder of Shugendō, the path of ascetic training practiced by the gyōja or yamabushi, is banished to Izu Ōshima by the Imperial Court.
1928: Birth of Yoshiro Nakamatsu, Japanese inventor.
1946: Death in jail of Yosuke Matsuoka, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Empire of Japan (1940-1941).
1966: Birth of Minaguchi Yuko, Japanese seiyu - voice actress.
1968: United States give back the administration of Bonin islands to Japan.
1972: Japan protests because of a series of French nuclear tests at Mururoa (South Pacific).
1977: Birth of Kubo Tite, Japanese mangaka (comic artist), the creator of (ultra)popular manga Bleach.
- I still think he should have ended the manga with Espada arc and the defeat of Aizen, but no, he had to continue ( 'cuz of the big money ) and now the magic of Bleach manga is destroyed 🙁 When will the suffering end, I wonder xD -
