[MoCHE] Travel Through History

Greetings citizens of eJapan and e-world, this will be the first article of the MoCHE (Ministry of History, Culture and Education), with me on its helm. There is no need for the introduction article, since you know me (more or less). Also, thanks to our government for (en)trusting me with this ministry, as always, I will try to do my best😁

As usual (like in my previous terms as MoCHE) my plans are to promote rl japanese culture and to try to bring some activity to our media. With that goal in mind, I will start (re)publishing my articles about historical events in japanese history, called Travel Through History(probably one or two article per week).

13th of June


1256: Death of Tankei,a Japanese sculptor.
1645: Death of Miyamoto Musashi,also known as Shinmen Takezō, Miyamoto Bennosuke or, by his Buddhist name, Niten Dōraku, an expert Japanese swordsman and rōnin.

1931: Death of Shibasaburo Kitasato, Japanese physician.
1948: Death of Osamu Dazai, Japanese fiction writer.
1952: Soviet mission in Tokyo loses its diplomatic status.
1974: Birth of Takahiro Sakurai, Japanese (seiyu) voice actor.
1978: Birth of Mikako Ichikawa, Japanese actress and model.
1999: Death of Yoshiki Iwama, Japanese screenwriter.
2006: Death of Hiroyuki Iwaki, Japanese conductor and percussionist.
2010: A capsule of the Japanese spacecraft Hayabusa, containing particles of the asteroid 25143 Itokawa, returns to Earth.

14th of June


1838: Birth of Yamagata Arimoto (also known as Yamagata Kyōsuke), a field marshal in the Imperial Japanese Army and twice Prime Minister of Japan.
1904: The Battle of Te-li-ssu - first of the two-days battle of Telissu, Battle of Wafangou (Russian: Бой у Вафангоу) in the Chinese Liaoning province. The Japanese rout the Russians and inflict heavy casualties.
1909: Prince Hirobumi Ito resigns as governor of Korea.

15th of June


1073: Death of Go-Sanjo, 71st japanese emperor.
1189: Death of Minamoto no Yoshitsune, general of the Minamoto clan of Japan in the late Heian and early Kamakura period.
1763: Birth of Kobayashi Issa, Japanese haiku poet.
1896: In Japan, a tsunami strikes Shinto festival on beach at Sanriku. 27,000 are killed, with 13,000 houses destroyed.
1926: Birth of Shigeru Kayano, one of the last native speakers of the Ainu language and a leading figure in the Ainu ethnic movement in Japan.
1930: Birth of Hirayama Ikuo, Japanese painter.
1944: Beginning of the Battle of Saipan, untill July 9th.
1944: First US B-29 raid against mainland Japan.
1945: The end of The Battle of Bessang Pass.Filipino troops of the 15th, 66th and 121st Infantry Regiment, Philippine Commonwealth Army, USAFIP-NL liberate the captured in Ilocos Sur and start the Battle of Bessang Pass in Northern Luzon.
1961: Birth of Yoshimi Iwasaki, Japanese singer/actress.
1967: Birth of Yuji Ueda, Japanese voice actor.
1984: Birth of Airu Shiozaki, Irish-Japanese actor.
1988: Birth of Miku Ishida, a Japanese female singer and ex gravure idol, actress and a teen idol.
2012: Japanese police arrests Katsuya Takahashi, the final fugitive member of a religious cult that launched nerve gas attacks on Tokyo’s subway in 1995, killing 13 people and injuring thousands.
