World in Flames: Day 927-936 - A Week of War

Day 936, 07:11 Published in USA USA by Cecil Knight

Introducing Knight News: World in Flames - 10th edition
See World in Flames in Chinese!

I'll say it here: I am human, I don't have inner access to the inner workings of either alliance, so I could be wrong. If I'm not sure what is going on, I usually preface it with the word “guess” or “i don't know.” Anyway the disclaimer is over.

Despite my personal affiliations, I try my best to keep my analysis as neutral and unbiased as I can.

I've spoken briefly with Mainegreen, and he's given me permission to use his symbol list. I figure it makes the maps a little easier to look at to know what's going on. Here's the symbol map with a few changes I like.

My last featured article, What Will Poland Do? Seemed to be pretty popular. I will try to have featured articles like that every now and then when I can think of a good story to write about. If you have any ideas, feel free to mail me. Also feel free to add me as a friend. I love friends, and you'll see me shout when I update my articles. 🙂

Important Battles of Week Day 928-936
I do apologize but the frequency of my papers will go down to probably a weekly event until my boss decides to stop making us work 12 hour days. Writing a single article of World in Flames takes me on average two to three hours, and I simply can't fit it in a 24 hour day working so much. I will continue to release articles every weekend, and I hope to up my frequency to at least once every 2 or 3 days as soon as I am able. Because of the length of time since my last article I will only cover battles and overall wars of note.

Russia attacks USA, Finland, and China

Perhaps the greatest news of the past week is Russia's mass attacks on Finland, China, and the USA, triggering the full MPP stacks of all three EDEN leaning nations. An impeachment against HankScorpio, the current Russian president failed. It was hoped that Hank would also attack Poland, but even with a heavy donation of gold from Max McFarland 2 to cover the cost of attacking the high population Polish region, it hasn't happened.

Many consider Hank's actions an elaborate action to con gold from EDEN nations hoping that Russia would attack Poland, but in my own personal opinion I think the threat Hank put his nation in far outweighs any gold donation he received, but I will leave further speculation to others. These three activated MPP stacks from China, USA, and Finland give the possibility of threatening eRepublik's most resource rich country. Russia is the only nation in eRep to contain Grain, Wood, Iron, Diamond(Titanium), and Oil at High levels (and at least two of each). Russia falling would be a severe blow to Phoenix, as they would lose their only source of diamonds. On that note though I do not believe that Russia has too much to worry about, as they possess a large number (20) of MPP's of their own that would offset the activated MPP stacks they triggered. Also, unlike Israel (see below) they have a large and robust economy that easily covers the cost of their MPP, so they will be able to maintain them over a long period of time.

Israel is wiped out and fully restored.

What came as a pretty big surprise to me was Turkey's successful elimination of the state of Israel. Turkey, Israel, and Greece have fought with each other so many times in the past to a stalemate I assumed that once again the same would happen. When Israel is losing a war versus Turkey, Greece usually steps in and attacks Turkey, initiative blocking them and allowing Israel time to build up their MPP list, so that when Turkey attacks again they are easily defeated. In this past war Greece initially did this very action, but after 24 hours they stopped initiative blocking Turkey, allowing Turkey to finish off Israel by attacking their Q5 hospital regions of Jerusalem and Beersheba South District.

I am not entirely sure why Greece decided to stop attacking; Within the final days of existence Israel had set up several new MPP at great cost, but they were still not enough to stop the large Turkey MPP stack. I imagine at some point it was decided in EDEN HQ that it was better to let Israel get wiped out and clear the huge MPP stack between Turkey and Israel than for the small nation of Israel to maintain 10+ MPP's and their associated cost every month.

In any case, shortly after occupation, resistance wars started all over Israel, and after a few days and some foreign support, Israel has fully returned to the map

India takes and holds North West Frontier Providence

In my last article, India had attacked North West Frontier Providence and captured it from Iran. India has Australia in an MPP with them against Iran, and the two nations combined were able to beat Iran and capture NWFP before a resistance war returned the region to Pakistan. What surprises me though is that a week later India still holds possession of NWFP. Upon a second look, the reason is that Pakistan is unable to attack India due to no state of war existing between the two nations. Serbia maintains control of Sindh, but they have given Punjab back to Pakistan, and so Serbia has no direct line to attack NWFP either. A few resistance wars have started in NWFP over the past week, but none have succeeded.

Brazil Attacks Nortern Cape, South Africa

Brazil attacks South Africa again. Brazil is fighting alone, while South Africa has a considerable number of MPP's they can defend themselves with. Other than the lulz, the only reason I can see Brazil attacking is, like Russia above, to try and antagonize the small nation to retaliate and activate Brazil's significant MPP stack of 16 nations.

Other Battles
Overall all it has been a quiet week. Every other battle has been either a training war, a land swap of little consequence, or unsuccessful attacks and resistance wars.

Back to using tinypic. With a registered account it is not nearly as infuriating as it is without. Hopefully I won't hit a max picture limit with a free account. The biggest thing I will miss is that the links no longer have the name of the country in them, but that is a minimal loss. I am pretty satisfied with how my attack arrows and icons look, and I think I will keep the style this way unless something better comes along. Of course if you have any suggestions you are welcome to leave comments or mail me directly.
