Woldy's Warriors/National Gallery

Day 2,183, 04:20 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Mr Woldy

Hello!

It has been almost a month and a half since my last article, as I found myself distracted from eRepublik by the real world; first in completing my postgrad thesis, and then with the hefty voluntary work I threw myself into almost directly after finishing my Master's. As such my activity here was somewhat scaled back, although I am sure that over the past few weeks you have seen me creeping around on IRC and the forums again after lurking in the shadows for three odd weeks.

My time on eRep has been largely spent supervising my MU and following political and military movements that the eUK has been involved with, and after completing a very short interview with the MoD about the MU I decided I would open the pages of my own ~highly successful~ newspaper to wax lyrical about the Warriors and also offer you some insight into my current political activity and views which you may notice will be congruent with what I had spent much time over summer preaching, before outlining the details of a small competition I have decided to run.

Woldy's Warriors

For those of you who may not know, I operate a Military Unit. Over the past months I have increasingly come to consider Woldy's Warriors, or the Double-Double-U's as a true melting pot of people from across the eUK, who often come and go (though mainly go recently) to kick back and have some jollies, and indulge in some 'royal' banter (being made King a few years back helps facilitate this you see). In all seriousness, WW's has seen NE, TUP, UKRP, ESO, PCP and other prominent members of PP's from a wide range of parties whom are often at each others throats come together for some joy and excitement and generally to kick some A, and during their time here these individuals have gotten on perfectly well and embodied the community spirit that you may think has been lacking in the eUK. Personally, I find it difficult to locate another institution or body that has brought together various outspoken and opposing individuals in such a way.

However, with my recent limited activity and the departure of people such as Cotton, Acroc, Pfieffer, Chew, and Chef the MU has entered a period of decline, and I am very grateful to both Horice and Anomalous Result for holding the fort and keeping things running smoothly. As such, we are beginning a new recruitment drive, and aiming to attract various individuals regardless of who you are to come and join the Household Cavalry and kick some botty across the eMap.

WW's was established as an MU for new players where you could find a fun and light hearted environment to play in that was both party neutral and community orientated. We still wish to help new players as best we can but now offer a more universal and uniform supply system. Should you join WW's you have the choice to join the commune which entitles you to 10 Q7 Guns (providing you fight) and on Demand food on a daily basis , with further access to the strike fund on designated days or you can work privately which entitles you to on Demand food on a daily basis and access to the strike fund on designated days. Generally a good deal, I like to think.

However, supplies can be considered the more mundane side of MU's, and what I hope WW's can offer is as outlined above, a melting pot of fun and activies and access to various benefits including tutorships and games that create a micro community that I feel embodies what we miss about how the eUK once was, when the idea of a community left party politics at the door.

Oh you also get to hang with a King and call yourself a knight of the round table and other quirky-bordering-on-roleplay-but-not-very-seriously-at-all features of the kingship. You dig. Picture monty python but in drag. So what are you waiting for, join the best MU ever~~

WW's fights the foreign, not the domestic.

Congress Stuff

The status of Congress here in the eUK is one of my favourite topics and periodically I release a big article about our Congress and what if anything needs improving, these two examples (Uno & Dos) provide you an idea of the kind of things I like to say, and sadly a lot of what I have said months into the past has had little impact and still applies today, although the continued use of a speaker for congress is something I see as a personal triumph in my crusade for democracy.

I shan't write you an essay on the Current state of things (not yet anyway bohoho) but I just want to broach the sense of complacency which can still be identified in various Congress men and women. In a perfect world, Congress would be hands on and engaging with the populace and the executive as a means of creating checks and balances on the CP. This isn't being done and instead what we have in the eUK is a system by which any and all scrutiny of the executive is usually performed by one or two interested individuals who speak out after something disagreeable has already taken place, with perhaps an article or short forum thread which is soon forgotten. Congress as a whole should be performing this role and should be the interested party, yet they more often than not don't care. So I hope on the 15th when you vote for your next PP's you select an individual who will be sure to filter out people who aren't interested or who will not take the role seriously, and who will instead choose those who live up to the role they have and who are interested in the wellbeing of the eUK rather than of a party.

Once we have a Congress who take themselves seriously, Congress itself can be taken seriously, and we should find a better regulation of our nations political and executive actions.

Finally I am launching a competition for eUK artwork, which can be as awful or as slightly less awful as you like and you can put together on any medium that pleases you, whether is be MS paint, photoshop or even a scanned sketch. All you have to do is sum up the weeks events or celebrate and individual or group of people in one image, and submit it to me by sunday evenings for the weekly award ceremony the following day. The winner of each category will have their work exhibited as part of the BPee Portrait Awards and one artist each week will be awarded the Burner Prize.

The Categories for the following week are:
