The New World Keeps Fighting, Day 1052-1055 Updates

Day 1,055, 06:14 Published in USA USA by Lieutenant Scheisskopf

Much has taken place since the previous edition of the Stars and Stripes Journal, when the world exploded in conflict behind the new war module and mutual protection pacts (MPPs) rules. Due to real life (RL) constraints, I have been unable to publish until today; consequently, this article will recap the past three days in a manner similar to my former The Week That Was series, which my older readers will hopefully remember fondly. Let’s get started.

Asia & Oceania

ePakistan before (left) and after (right) its invasion began on Day 1052

Pakistan/India: Dioist Pakistan Engages India in Holy Campaign
Shortly following ePakistan’s unanimous declaration of war on eIndia, the Dioist President Max McFarland 2 commenced ePakistan’s invasion with a first wave of attacks beginning at 19:46 on Day 1052 against Northern India, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Jammu and Kashmir. Motivated by Dioist zeal and backed by an impressive assortment of allies, ePakistan has overwhelmed its in-game and RL adversary, and compounded these gains with additional successes on Day 1053 at Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, before continuing on to Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, and then Bihar on Day 1055. The front expanded later in Day 1055, with an attack on eIndia's stone fortress of Jharkhand alongside Orissa at 18:50, while Tamil Naud and North Eastern India were attacked in the evening hours.
Although eIndia has launched various resistance wars (RWs) throughout the invasion and once attempted a counterattack against Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh, the eIndian military has been outmanned and outmuscled by the larger and more motivated ePakistani-led coalition. In an act of defiance, eIndia proposed its own declaration of war against the eUSA early in Day 1053, but has yet to act upon it given its dire state; instead, it was the eUSA who made the first move, attacking West Bengal on Day 1055. The map above indicates the drastic changes seen in the past three days, and do not bode well for eIndia’s long-term survival.

eAustralia as we now know it on Day 1055

Australia Returns to Map, Faces Indonesian Counterattack
Day 1052 brought a concerted effort by the Resistance Force of Australia against eIndonesia’s control of its regions, as the Force retook all three contested regions: Queensland, Western Australia, and Northern Territory via RW campaigns. In the maneuver, eAustralia regained two valuable sources of titanium and underscored the initial idea that Phoenix may be dead. All was not lost for Phoenix, however, as eIndonesia and 12 allies invaded Western Australia at midday on Day 1054, enjoying a 12-0 alliance advantage and easily winning back the valuable region.

Separately in Southeast Asia, eSerbia witnessed three RWs open in its occupied possessions of Eastern Thailand, eMalaysian Peninsular Malaysia, and Sarawak. The targeted regions are eSerbia’s last remaining possessions in Asia following its loss of Liaoning and would have dealt a further blow to eSerbia’s economy and international prestige; however, the Phoenix power easily repelled these RWs, which seemed to only merit minor attention.

eGreece has won a string of victories (numbered) while
resisting attacks on its own home regions (circled)

Anatolia
Bulgaria-Turkey-Iranian Land Swap Reaches Conclusion
After eBulgaria successfully obtained its sought after high grain from eIranian South Khorasan, both eBulgaria and eIran began to return the regions necessary for the land swap. The swapping battles encountered varying degrees of external tampering and efforts by EDEN-friendly fighters to stymie them; eBulgaria’s return of Northwestern Iran to eIran, for example, was fiercely contested, while most other region returns passed without event.

Greece Advances Deep into Anatolia
Building off its initial success from Day 1051 and its successful defense of eTurkey’s first counterattack, eGreece continued its offensive in Anatolia by overruning the Aegean Coast of Turkey and Marmara. The offensive against eTurkey continued with an attack late in Day 1053 on the Black Sea Coast of Turkey. All the while, eGreece managed to resist diversion attacks from eBulgaria, who targeted Thrace late in Day 1052, and Macedonia on Day 1054. However, the invasion seems to have stalled, as eTurkey easily defended eGreece’s Day 1054 invasion of Eastern Anatolia. Regardless, eTurkey is in danger of being wiped off the map by its rival, and will need a significant change of momentum before even considering a reconquest of the regions which have been lost. Most interesting for eGreece is that its victories have blocked eTurkey from bordering the new eCyprus, which may have also been one of eGreece's goals in keeping the new country within its own sphere of influence.

Balkans & Southeast Europe
Croatia Continues Assault on Slovenia, attacks Hungary
eCroatia, on Day 1053, prolonged its attacks on neighboring eSlovenia by conquering Inner Carniola whilst also blocking eSlovenian counterattacks on Slovenian Littoral and targeting Lika and Gorski Kotar. The larger eCroat military has faced few setbacks apart from a loss at Styria and Carinthia on Day 1053, and has overrun Upper Carniola and Prekmurje with minimal resistance. The EDEN power conquered its smaller Phoenix adversary several months ago, although eSlovenia still holds three regions and will likely receive increased allied support in any future battles for their control.
While attacking eSlovenia, eCroatia also opened a front against eHungary on Day 1052, attacking eHungary’s Western Transdanubia in a likely attempt to draw fighters away from eHungary’s simultaneous battles with eRomania. An eHungarian counterattack on Day 1054 targeted eCroatia’s Slavonia and Burgenland regions; although Slavonia was secured, Burgenland has leaned towards the attackers’ favor and may suggest that eCroatia’s momentum is slowing.

Romanian Campaign Eliminates Hungarian Iron Resource
The New World’s longest continuous war continued as eRomania attacked Northern Basarabia and Central Hungary. eRomania was poised to win Northern Basarabia from the beginning, but failed to overtake Central Hungary and were temporarily halted-- the setback was minor, however, as eRomania subsequently attacked Transnistria and easily conquered it. The biggest gain for eRomania was the successful conventional attack on Podolia after an RW attempt on Podolia had previously failed. In doing so, eRomania stripped eHungary of a valuable iron resource held with the consent of eUkraine. As a result, a Resistance Force sought unsuccessfully to liberate Podolia on Day 1054, shortly after eRomania’s original victory. eRomania retaliated by continuing against eUkraine and attacking Zaporozhia in the middle of Day 1055.

Serbia Intervenes on Hungary’s Behalf
Without being attacked itself, eSerbia came to its eHungarian ally’s aid and attacked the Southern Great Plain just hours after eRomania conquered the region against eHungary. A RW was launched to return the region to eHungarian control, but keeping it in eSerbian hands denies eRomania one more potential eHungarian border region to target, and keeps eHungary comparatively safer from attack. In its continued counteroffensive, eSerbia turned on Crisana to divert eRomania on Day 1054-- although eHungary attacked the region as well on Day 1055-- and may attempt more attacks on the eRomanians to keep them limited in their advances.

ePoland gained eRussian Kaliningrad on Day 1052, but has lost its eLithuanian holdings

Baltic States
Poland Reversed in Lithuania
Following ePoland’s Day 1052 victory over eRussian Kaliningrad, the Resistance Force of Lithuania dealt ePoland a minor blow by taking back Sudovia, but fell just short at Dainava. Lithuania Minor and the Lithuania Highland both fell to RW campaigns on Day 1054-1055, and undid the quick series of gains which ePoland made against eLithuania days before.

Minor Attacks
In separate conflicts, the Resistance Force of Portugal retook the Azores from the eUSA on Day 1052, delaying any chance of the eUSA possibly working with eSpain to eliminate the country. ePortugal also attempted a two-front blocking war by attacking the naturally eSpanish region of Galicia and the eUSA’s Georgia. Georgia was easily secured, but Galicia took more time to win for eSpain; whether these attacks had any viability or were meant solely as blocking campaigns is unclear, but their successes could have diverted additional attention from other fronts.
Separately, the eUK lost control of eIreland’s capital region after Dublin fell in its own RW.

Recap
Much has happened; that is clear to anyone monitoring the conflicts or who read this article. EDEN countries seem to be on the winning end of many of these conflicts, although the game is full of cycles and could feature Phoenix counterstrikes in the coming days. Also worth noting is the entry of the six new countries, whose future allegiances could have ramifications on the international balance of power and may draw EDEN and Phoenix's attention.
In the short term, however, Phoenix will need to reverse losses in Turkey, Russia, Slovenia, Hungary, and Australia, in order to break even over the past week. Time is not on Phoenix’s side in that endeavor. Each day that EDEN-friendly countries continue to hold the several high-resource regions it has taken, is a day of additional revenue and resource wealth which will further enhance its comparative advantage over their Phoenix adversaries. Ostin’s article may not be true, but the prospect could cause anxiety among its membership if the status quo is not reversed quickly.

God Bless America,
