Spain Faces RWs, Turkey Attacks Israel, Day 876

Day 876, 15:03 Published in USA USA by Lieutenant Scheisskopf

Day 876 has featured a Phoenix-backed resistance war (RW) campaign targeted at eSpanish-held regions in France and Germany, reminiscent of previous attempts by Phoenix to target ePolish occupied regions across Germany on Day 793 and France two months ago. In both cases, the main motivator was for Phoenix to increase the country’s congressional seats before their Election Day; however, the timing of this attack shows this not to be the case. Apart from ongoing eNorwegian and eFinnish attacks on eRussia, the other major development thus far has been an eTurkish offensive on their smaller neighbors, eIsrael.

Spain Falters Against Insurgency Campaign

eSpain’s regions targeted in RW and eUK attack (circled) on Day 876.
It is notable that eSpain’s occupied fortress of Aquitaine was not targeted.

The five regions targeted in this latest Phoenix-backed uprising consist of the four remaining eSpanish-controlled regions of Germany: Saxony, Rheinland-Palatinate, Saxony-Anhalt, and North Rhine-Westphalia, along with the eUK-bordering French region of Brittany. Except for Saxony and Brittany, eSpain’s empire took a hit from within, as it lost the remaining three regions held in Germany. Although none of the 5 targeted regions offer any significant strategic, economic, or political implications, it is nevertheless an unnerving sight to see several of the EDEN power’s possessions being undermined internally. As mentioned previously, ePoland has faced this tactic against its own empire, and may once more see an RW-backed insurgency attempt to sever more regions off before elections this month, after Phoenix evaluates the outcome of this current campaign. With the success witnessed by these attacks, Saxony may come under a second attack, which would put Germany one step closer to full independence and could put ePoland's Brandenburg and Berlin within the crosshairs as a viable target.

On the other hand, Phoenix’s targeted selections shows some limitation of capability and perceived chances of success. eSpain may be facing, and losing, several RWs, but none of the challenged regions gives it any great revenue or resource boon. Only if Aquitaine were targeted, would eSpain really feel the pinch. It likely will not be challenged in the immediate future because of its highly secured status, although any RW in this high wood hub would draw Phoenix and EDEN’s best fighters to the battlefield and signal a major battle. To be sure, the EDEN power would not tolerate an RW on its wood resources without putting up a spirited fight.

Turkey Attacks Israel

eTurkey’s entry into the Levant through the Haifa District has opened eIsrael up to a full-scale assault

Asia Minor, long silent, saw new attacks as eTurkey pushed into their small eIsraeli neighbor’s native regions. Back in February, eTurkey opened the way for invading eIsrael as it conquered the Haifa District which eGreece was holding to protect the small Sol state, since Haifa is the only Levantine region which borders eTurkey. Day 876 saw the region reinvigorate with eTurkey attacking Nazareth and the Tel Aviv Center District; although Nazareth was ultimately secured, eTurkey did win at Tel Aviv early in Day 877. Tel Aviv was the more important battle, however, since Phoenix's victory there has put eTurkey within striking distance of both eIsraeli hospital regions and their active population concentrations. It is entirely possible that in the coming days, we may see eGreece intervene on their little neighbor’s behalf.

Closing, and a Word to My Readers
These developments today, though small, may shape the Phoenix-EDEN battleground for the upcoming days. If eSpain loses their non-natural regions, Phoenix may be inspired to try the same RW campaign against ePoland, and eGermany will get closer to reaching its full size. On the other hand, eTurkey’s success against the eIsraelis may invite eGreek and EDEN intervention, changing where some international forces focus for a couple of days.

I am grateful for everyone’s warm welcome as I return to eRepublik media, but I must caution that I am easing my way back in slowly. I do not intend to be writing daily or to be resuming my popular “The Week That Was” series, since those were more time-consuming than I can provide at this time. However, I am glad to be back and writing, and hope you all continue to read and enjoy my humble attempts at analyzing and reporting from a neutral standpoint.

God Bless America,
