The Shameless Plug has decided to experiment in new formats for the weekly Award for Best Article. The first trial format will take shape as a Top 10 list that includes everyone who made the shortlist. Next week, we may try a panel of judges (any volunteers?). As well, The Plug will be shorter and the Best Line has been omitted to economize on space.

Speaking of economizing, the SPABA prize of 50 CAD has been cut back to an IOU. That’s right, we’re out of cash. Now I’m working for CAF industries to support our country and the days of luxury are over. Later, when I’m rolling in wages or sponsored by a big wig, you’ll get your prize.

The polling will also be different: multiple-choice with the option to change your vote. This will allow for a wider range of results, as we only had 20 votes in the last poll (not enough to support a Top 10 list). The Top 3 will receive a favourable review/analysis when the results are announced later this week. I did not include SPAMM Contender articles to avoid conflict of interest and also to allow other articles to be highlighted.

Here are your Top 10 articles of the week (in no particular order):

1. “Is Someone Running to Be My Party’s Leader?” by Kelly Mahoney of Home Front Heroes.
The Plug: You tell’em, sister. Kelly has a point to make and she wants all you big shots to listen. It seemed to work, too.

2. “Media Spam” by Dominik of Slavia.
The Plug: An article that proved itself wrong…ahh, or is that right. It really doesn’t matter since so many voted for it.

3. “The Duncan Reforms” by the 10th/William Duncan of The Glorious 10th.
The Plug: Duncan puts out some big ideas on reforming the CAF into Organizations, proving the old saying that ‘there’s no business like war business.”

4. “S&E’s Economic Report” by Keneto of Maxim Magazine.
The Plug: The markets have proven that food is still a popular item among eCanadians. What may become more popular are Keneto’s editorial cartoons.

5. “ Molière au eCanada...” by Vulcain of Le Souvenir.
The Plug: Here’s an answer to the Clash’s “Should I Stay or Should I Go.” Turns out you should stay and be damn proud to do so.

6. “The OG: Another Way to Die” by Banach of The Ottawa Guardian.
The Plug: A voice rising from the dead…madness or genius? Time will tell as these prophetic words hang heavy. Of the four, let’s hope this is what plays out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AI_S0tswjWcBruck, Push the Button!

7. “Taxes, Shcmaxes…” by SensibleVoices of The Sensible Voice.
The Plug: Even in eLife the same certainties apply: death and taxes. Okay, maybe only taxes. SensibleVoices explains why and suggests a better way to deal with the inevitable.

8. “ Canadian/International News - Issue 1 - (Lots of News)” by emilio sanchez of Canadian News Corp.
The Plug: emilio’s not kidding when he says “Lots of News.” Go here for a rundown on what’s up and what’s out there to read.

9. “Special Report: Weapon Markets Data” by Azzeriath of Northern Forged.
The Plug: “Patriot puff-piece” sells out to some seriously PO’ed market analysis. Unsurprisingly, Azzeriath gets the attention of eCanada’s weapons manufacturers.

10. “RoyMunson: CAF are Prepared for Every Possible Scenario” by SensibleVoices of The Sensible Voice.
The Plug: Top 10 influential person gets interviewed by one of the Top 10 newspapers in eCanada, which makes it into the Top 10 best article list. Okay, I’m stretching it. The interview was very well done and mostly politically correct.

By popular demand, The Shameless Plug is also reprinting its list of previous winners:
