Woxan Wins POTUS; Voter Turn-Out Dismal...

In the United States, former Vice President Woxan sailed to victory against former Secretary of State Bradley Reala and Congressman CivilAnarchy, capturing over 55% of the vote. Woxan, backed by many prominent citizens and the eUSA's top two parties, has pledged to increase the population by three percent, increase the GDP by six percent, and capture the Phoenix-occupied regions of Liaoning and Inner Mongolia during his term. He will be faced with some of the gravest foreign policy challenges to recently plague the United States, including hostile overtures from Poland and the aftermath of the USA's departure from EDEN.

Voter turn-out, masterfully gathered by dSoKre, is a cause for concern in the United States. Turn-out decreased by 313 voters, bringing the grand total of people who voted in the eUS elections to 11.44% of the eAmerican population. Yes, the numbers can be slightly skewed by that fact that the United States had mobile voters operating across the globe to participate in anti-PTO measures, but it is not a significant amount. Elections are widely regarded as a barometer of active citizenry, and have just over one in ten Americans active is bad news for the nation. Of all nations, only Brazil, Sweden, Russia, and Australia had a lower percentage of voter turn-out. The highest percentage of voter turn-out was in the Czech Republic, location of one of the largest PTO battles in this election, with 172% turn-out (yes, that means an increase; people had moved in). In regards to the whole New World, only 17.37% of citizens voted, meaning fewer than one in five eRepublik Citizens are active daily.

Foreign Affairs

The big news story lately of course is the souring of relations between Poland and the United States. Max McFarland 2 recently released an article containing logs of the leaders of Phoenix Nations attending a meeting called for by representatives of Spain and Poland to discuss an invasion of the United States. Coupled with a Polish PTO group operating in the eUS under the party "The New World Order", this led to spiraling relations between the two countries. There were previously hopes that this was just the current leadership of Poland, but the election results gave 50% of the Polish vote to adios_pl, who has listed in his goals the conquest of Florida, California, and Karnataka-- the three American Fortresses. The United States now appears to be playing a waiting game to see if the threat is serious or not.

In the United Kingdom, former Prime Minister GlaDOS was victorious. He has listed as one of his goals the conquest of Dublin, playing off of continuing strained relations between Britain and Ireland over the Irish decision to align themselves with the Brolliance. He has also declared the United Kingdom to be a Dioist nation, which has been met with resistance from his deputy, Mr Woldy, a prominent adherent of Bobloism. GLaDOS has also taken advantage of the fact that Norway was PTO'd by Turkish agents this election, who have used their puppet to have Norway open up multiple wars against them and allowed the United Kingdom begin an invasion of the PTO'd nation.

Norway was the site of one of several PTO victories of the night. Despite great efforts to fight these PTOers, the nations of Norway, the Czech Republic, and Bosnia ended up suffering by narrow leads. There has now been a wake up call submitted showing just how very close these races were, and asking eUS voters in the future to consider signing up for ATO movements.

In China, wangxiaoyall won with 40.52% of the vote. He has pledged to focus predominantly on internal issues such as building up the Chinese economy and increasing the active population. He has also pledged to begin discussion with China about whether or not the nation should join in spirit with the Brolliance like their good friend Japan has, abandoning discussion of joining EDEN due to the instability of that alliance right now.

And now, THREAT NUMBER ONE to the United States.

The nation of Singapore is widely regarded as a terrorist-sponsoring nation for being a safe haven for infamous, internationally-wanted terrorist the Admin, responsible for the genocide of countless newbs and poor players through a poor healthcare system, and also regarded as responsible for many natural disasters that plague the New World such as failed battles and moving borders. Now, the nation has elected a president who has pledged to conquer Florida and MONTANA. This is a step too far. Not only is Singapore housing terrorists and threatening our back-up fortress state, but they are not threatening Montana. Singapore must be destroyed.

Input from Zoli: "In the Czech Republik it was a TO attempt made by Romania. Hungary and Serbia sent hundreds of voters to counter the Romanian threat, and supported a local Czech player secure presidency. Croatia tried to TO Austria but failed. Russia kept their control over North Korea and Switzerland, and Serbs won again in Denmark."

Other Domestic News
The eUSA Congressional Office has released an article introducing the Congress and containing shout-outs from various members of Congress. My shout out is p cool. Congress has come under a little bit of fire recently due to the actions of the congressman from Florida, Pizza the Hut, calling for the impeachment of President Woxan, which failed 6-54. Pizza the Hut, known by other aliases such as Ajay Bruno, has been banned from Congressional Forums and effectively backlisted by the government. His use of an impeachment has barred any chance there may have been of reconciliation. The use of an impeachment is a dangerous thing in a country, as a Congress may only propose impeachment once a week, meaning that if an impeachment was used and failed and then, within that week, something happened that would prohibit the president from playing the game (either a banning or rl issues), the nation would be effectively stuck until the next impeachment could be proposed.

Meanwhile, President Woxan has released his cabinet list. Joe Newton is vice president, Colin Lantrip is Chief of Staff, NXNW will continue as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, Angelini will continue as Secretary of Defense, and some jerk has been named as Secretary of State.

I have served in the Department of State since September in various capacities including Ambassador to China, South Korea, and North Korea; Regional Boss of Asia; Deputy Director of Ambassadorial Affairs; and Deputy Secretary of State for Asia and Oceania. I have served under Secretaries Wade Seagrave, WahooBob, Cerb, Bradley Reala, Woxan, and Devoid. Now, President Woxan has asked me to serve as Secretary of State, and I gladly accepted.

I would like to thank departing secretary Bradley Reala for his months of tireless service in this position, and I wish him well on his brief vacation before I come whipping him back to work! I would also like to thank the rest of the staff in State and look forward to working with them.
