It's a one-man campaign... no Strategy Team, no Advisors, no Managers... hell, no Volunteers.
So here it is the day before the Congressional Election, and I'm sitting down over a late lunch to write an article of some substance.

Breakfast of Champions, at 8pm..?!

I expect my first term in office will be one of gaining an education. I don't think a newbie Congressman should be offering any proposals before fully understanding the process by participating as a student first.
While I expect to learn from my elder members, I also have my own sources for knowledge and understanding.
While I will follow competent leadership, I will not be misled or follow blindly.
To that end, while I will be listening, I will also be heard.

The American People are going to have to invest in me like a new planted sapling tree.

Substance:

Poland Can Into the USA?
Have you been reading about this? The US is working out a deal to rent a few of our High Resource regions to Poland. Check this, this, and finally this.
I'll vote in favor of this if it requires a Congress proposal and approval.
I'll hope like hell they don't consider Oklahoma and its High Oil to be one of those "extra, unimportant" regions.

Taxes
I'm not a big fan of higher Income and Sales Taxes.. they seem plenty high enough right now, and I'd like to see the government (RL and game, both) show damn good stewardship of our current taxes before okay'ing any increases in citizens' taxes.
The whole thing about Import and Export taxes is pretty confusing. I have come to accept the "free trade" setup of low tariffs as being most stable.. I'm not done learning about this.

Military
I am dead set against government funding of militias.
I'm not against the existence of civilian militias, but since they don't function under the direction of the President and the JCS, funding them drains from our soldiers who are working within the established structure.
I am strongly in favor of increasing allotments to all official branches off the US Military.

Everything Else
Look... I play this game every day... I've been at it for almost a year and a half. I tried to quit but still kept up with news and events during my week or so break from full time play.
I'm playing the Beta V2 game, rolling through IRC channels chatting with top people in politics and the military, reading a ton of articles-- in our own and in the enemy's press.

I'm an active player. I have a pretty good feel for what's going on. Congressmen aren't, individually, miracle workers who can fix everything. But as one man with one vote, I'll be there for you.

So there ya go...
I'll work with intelligent discourse, but I'll bail on nonproductive bullshit.
And I'll vote, every time.
Right there are two things that are different than how things have been in Congress.
Right there's two reasons to elect me to Congress.
And in keeping with my American Military Party creed, I intend to look out for our soldiers' interests in government.

In Closing
Get your butt on down to Oklahoma and vote for me.
I might be able to pull together the $16 to cover two Tickets and four Gifts for a few voters, but see if you can swing that on your own, huh? Sixteen bucks-- you gonna sell your vote for that? Pull it out of your own pocket and take some pride in your vote.

Ahh, this looks good... $25 rooms, just my style.
I'd really like to hear from some committed voters, particularly Oklahoma citizens who got mail from me.
My worthy opponent, Dave Richards, is really playing it cool.. I think he's confident of his Party's support. Myself, I'm not going to be confident enough to kick back till it's over tomorrow night.
