mile 0 - no quick alliances

Day 548, 18:42 Published in USA USA by scrabman

All of the world is freaking out and screaming that the sky is falling with the disintegration of ATLANTIS. It is not. The media is full of Swedes, Germans, and everyone else screaming about defense, attack, betrayal, assholery, and about what the new alliances are going to be. I could write a whole article about it but I'll direct you, instead, to the recent article of my new Secretary of State, Harrison Richardson (yesterday Inwegen stepped down and moved over as my Chief of Staff).

Let me state this clearly and unequivocally. So long as I am President we are not joining any new alliance as a knee jerk reaction to a bunch of spastic fear mongers and worriers running around and freaking out about the state of the world.

We will not be joining any new alliance until we have had a chance to see the state of the new world. I can assure you that the world will change at least 8 times in the next 3 weeks and we will not be the same then as we are now. Today Sweden captured part of Germany and then South Korea attacked Japan. Who knows what tomorrow will bring? What I can tell you is that the United States is remaining as neutral as we can during this time of turmoil and conserving our limited resources for our most strategic battles. We are not rushing to create our own alliance nor are we going to hurriedly join someone else's alliance just so that we can tell ourselves that we are safe. We will continue our War Games soon and will give our people a chance to train. We are not going to try to police the world as we cannot afford the price tag. We are not Romania nor are we Indo ... we will soon find out who we are and then we will move forward.

We cannot enter into alliances until we are acquainted with the designs of our neighbors. - Sun Tzu
