It's day 1492 and I'm in the market at 15:10. The US just lost a very close battle in Hesse, a Polish occipied region of Germany, and citizens continue to rage against the new Q6 factories. Congress elections are heating up as well, but first, let's do the numbers.

Socialist Party President Faucoult wrote an article calling for a worker's boycott of Q6 companies. In a statement to Point Taken, Faucoult said "It is obvious that most players are not capable to buy Q6 companies, and they will lack of advantage. They will not be able to employ workers. Only some players could upgrade to Q6. So i think it is best way to own a q6 company in the party then supply these weapons to members."

From my own analysis, there is a clear advantage to having Q6 weapons, but no so much for food. The impact of weapons is limited by use, where as the use of food is limited by its result. By this, I mean that you can only use one weapon per fight, so the only way to increase damage is to get stronger weapons. On the other hand, you can only eat 100 food points per hour, so more powerful food doesn't lead to more recovery. One could argue that higher Q food allows for less wasted storage space (as it takes less room to store the same amount of recovery), but honestly the cost of storage doesn't compare to the cost of upgrading to the Q6 level. This has been reflected in the market so far, with 68 Q6 Weapon sellers currently in the US, compared to just 16 Q6 food vendors. John Largo echoed these conclusions in his own article this evening.

Pizza the Hut II drew criticism by wishing the community a Happy Hanukkah. It seems the self-proclaimed head of "EDEN-TERRA Unified Command" and "General of the Armies******" can't catch a break even when he tries to do something without obvious ulterior motive.

Sir Gulden Draak published a list of seventeen signs you play eRepublik too much.

The alliance group Terra, to which the United States belongs, celebrates one year this week. Terra HQ looks back at the history of the past 12 months; a great read for newer players to get a sense of how much can change, change again, and sometimes stay the same over such a long period of time.

Meet the Press named former Speaker of the House RainySunday as the 2011 American of the Year. Sunday beat Henry Arundel, Bradley Reala, and two others in the poll, which was open to the public. Pizza the Hut II, who received less than 15% of the votes, complained that the public nature of the poll allowed for individuals to vote more than once, a claim that has ironically also been made against Mr. Hut in several in-game elections. Ms. Sunday recieved a prize of 6000 USD.

The race for a seat in Congress is just a few days away. The US currently has nearly 60 regions, and we could have even more by the 25th. Last month, only 42 candidates made the cut due to the invasion, but the game is set up so each region will have at least one winner. One year ago, in December 2010, 60 Congressional candidates won. In March 2010, the US saw a record 68 winners. This month, Point Taken would like to review the candidates and endorse a small handful that seem to best represent the country. If you are running, send me a PM with your state, qualifications, and tell me why you will be a great Congressman. Submissions must be submitted by Dec 23rd.

More to come as the evening goes on.

PointBank continues to grow and serve our customers. Earlier this week, depositors got their first monthly statements. A few common questions have been asked recently, so I would like to take a moment to answer them here for everyone who may be wondering.

What currency can I use to deposit?
PointBank only accepts USD as a form of currency. Gold has a limit of 10G/day for exchange, and it would be difficult for me to keep track of all the dozens of international currencies floating around.

Are there limits on the size of my account?
There is a 100 USD minimum for opening a savings account, but there is no maximum.

Are you still selling 5G Savings Bonds?
Yes. When you invest 5000 USD in a savings bond today, you will get it back with a 5% gain in just 31 days.

How do I open an account or buy a bond?
Just send me a PM to let me know which you want to do, then donate the money to my account. I will send you confirmation as soon as I get the donation.
