Here are some proposed changes (to boost consumption):

1) Hospitals - they should heal only wounds taken in combat. In exchange every player starts with 100 wellness points.

That should affects on Gifts and Food - when hospitals start healing only combat wounds, not wellness reduction caused by work/training as well, players will start buying more gifts and higher quality food.

2) Houses - Slowly, but steadily, they should be wearing out. Or, they can be built in regions, just like hospitals and DSes. If player leaves the region - the house remains, but can be used only if player returns.

3) Tickets - Instead wellness change from -2 to +2 wellness, which makes only q1 tickets reasonable - > from -20 for q1 to +0 for q5, or complete removal of wellness modifier in exchange for distance factor (q1 - travel inside the country, q2 - neighboring countries, q3 - the same continent, q4 - intercontinental, q5 - global, including hostile countries). eventually - mix.
That not only boost economy but makes a TO harder to make.

4) We have only 3 skills and 5 resources - need to increase that.

5) Change effectiveness – now it’s too high and we suffer overproduction

6) by lukasznaw: 10 gifts per day instead 10 wellness points from gifts per day

Why?

In my press articles I've written about the causes of the "crisis" in eRepublik. I used quotation marks, because hard to talk about a crisis which it is built into the game's mechanism - the economical simulation is simply tragic.
But still, some countries fare quite well - Spain, USA, Indonesia... Why? Let's take a look on Romania. Not long ago, they used to have perhaps not the highest, but one of the highest, salaries in the world, and RON's exchange rate was much higher than today. What has happened? A lost war's a lost war, but in fact, there's another reason - they've lost all their high iron areas.

Although it may sound strange - country's wealth depends almost completely on controlling high iron areas, either owned or conquered.

High grain's too common - almost every country has one* , plenty of grain is spent - but even more is being produced.

Wood - a more rare resource - is needed only for houses (their production's almost unprofitable) and DSes. And hospitals, of course - well, since areas are not so numerous...

Diamonds and gifts are used rarely. Especially, since it's better to fight once and heal 50 wellness points in a hospital (and have 40 points more than in the beginning) instead of spending cash on so many gifts.

Compared to this, iron is very special. Deposits are rare. Extremally rare. Most countries are deprived of high iron areas. And players spend tons of weapons. In fact, eRepublik seems to encourage weapon use. Players are capable of spending almost every amount of it - and they do so.

Spain, Indonesia, Brasil, Hungary, Ukraine - wherever we look - iron producing companies are giving highest salaries. We can't explain this by assuming their owners are just kind towards their employees. 😉

Sadly, the economy is simple unbalanced. One resource gives an unnatural advantage over the other ones.

This is why I do not criticize the governments of countries which have less luck. Neither the current, nor the past ones. Even if they had done the impossible - they would not have been able to overcome the mechanics. Mechanics that not only deprived many countries of any chance for becoming economical power (because they don't have any high iron areas), but also make it very difficult to become an average country (Being with no high grain area? Nowadays, when almost all new countries have them? Riddiculous).

BAD RESOURCES SYSTEM IS ONE PROBLEM. BUT NOT ONLY...

I have never bought food with quality higher than q1. I've never bought a gift. I have q4 house - but now i wonder why...
I work in q3-q5 companies which demands from me wellness > 90, but... so what?

For what one should buy high quality food and gifts when we have hospitals.
In worst case, one can lose 10 wellness a day (no food - 4, work - 5, train - 1). so, one fights 4 times and than... and than one use hospital and regain all wellness, he or she lost that day. no need to buy anything.

Many, many people doing that. or, in "best" case - they buy q1 food. and nothing more.

Why it's bothering me?

Because economy is suffering. They produce goods, but not consume it.

One more thing - productivity increase faster than population number. we have more and more goods on the stock.

"Funny" thing about that: when workers wellness is about 50 they produce less than they produces with 100 wellness points. but: when they improve wellness they produce more goods - more goods on market = prices going down. prices going down = salaries going down because it's only way to cut production costs in eRepublik.
so - we try so hard to get high wellness - and in best case we will have same salaries... and the new ones ("babies") with theirs 50 wellness have no chance to being hired.

If You still don't know about what the hell I'm writing:

Have anybody seen a q2 ticket? q3 maybe? q4? q5? No? Me neither.
when wellness change from -2 to +2 is only one reasonable choice - q1. no one sane men starts a q2/3/4/5 ticket company. not only eRepublik has so tiny choice in categories - but it doesn't use some of them.

Construction: why so many companies are locked?

houses: no wear out. Once You buy You can use it forever without any charge. sweet? not for companies and workers who could be hired to produce new ones. when population rise up they could survive - but when people who want to buy a house made it - many companies just bankrupt.

wellness & hospitals - I do not know, why hospitals heal more wellness than the player had lost in battle. "It's not a bug, it's a feature"?
If admins wanted them to heal combat wounds (and only combat wounds) - then it should be done so. If not - why fighting's needed before healing?

So: Do not blame masonry, government, Judes... The present situation's not their fault. Mechanics - especially economy - are the responsible ones. And we have to realize this and then explain this to the admins. Many parties promise - that's their right - but without changing the mechanics they're powerless.
The crisis affects every country - but those with high iron regions have a chance to survive, the rest are doomed, sooner or later. So it's a crisis of the whole eRepublik system.

*another weird thing: admins give one high grain to almost every single new country - I've already written what I think about this and why it's unfair for some other countries, which have to live without it (unfair because in RL produces so much grain, f.e. Poland, second in the UE "grain maker" and no high grain area)
