Freedom! Forever! - Summary
Monsieur Guillontine
Across The Fields
Across the sky, the clouds move,
Across the fields, the wind,
Across the fields the lost child
Of my mother wanders.
Across the street, leaves blow,
Across the trees, birds cry --
Across the mountains, far away,
My home must be.
~ Herman Hesse, Swiss poet and receiver of the Nobel Prize in Literature
My dear disciples,
This is the last time I will be able to write to you before the elections. It is up to you, as a citizen of Switzerland, to decide who you would like to lead our nation. Choose who you think can handle our current crisis. Before you do make up your mind however, I would like to summarize my final goals to accomplish if I am honored enough to be elected as Swiss president for the new year which has just arrived.
Recap of my Program
Strong independent Switzerland
Reform Switzerland’s military structure
Continue negotiations with Slovenia
Work toward renting Vorarlberg from Austria
Join a workable alliance to suit Switzerland’s needs
And so, now that you know my goals I would like to achieve as president, please consider voting for me! Sometimes reforming old institutions or ideas may seem like something we want, and of course I understand that… that’s just human nature. But to me, I think our nation has waited far too long for change, and it is time to adapt to the surrounding environment. Only then will Switzerland be able to withstand the world which is haunting every step we take… only then can we achieve our freedom… forever!
Yours Truly,
Monsieur Guillontine
