The affairs of Day 810 made the past 24 hours quiet, as both Phoenix and EDEN fighters used Day 811 to recover and plan their next moves. Enter Day 812. In the span of eight hours, a number of events unfolded which have rocked the New World and could carry major implications on the progress of the war for both sides.

Phoenix Backs Resistance Wars in SE England, Karnataka
Day 811 included an eUS attack on the West Midlands, designed to keep initiative behind the eUS and EDEN and to keep the eUK initiative locked. In response, the eUK circumvented this lock by starting two resistance wars (RW) in North East of England against eSweden, and in South East of England around 1100 on Day 812, one of the two regions bordering London and the site of a major eUS victory on Day 810. The RW in SE of England will delay an eUS attack on London and if successful, would provide Phoenix and the eUK with additional breathing room; it would also allow the eUK to hold one half of its original regions once more. No less significant, the NE of England RW prevents eNorway from swapping with eSweden for the region (read below).

A major Phoenix tank, BattalGazi, started an expensive RW campaign in the eUS fortress of Karnataka, an Indian region on loan from the eIndian government, about an hour following the start of SE of England’s RW. As long as Karnataka faces any chance of falling in Phoenix’s favor, the eUS and EDEN will be hard-pressed to overlook this battle and may devote too much damage to its defense, as the eUS would lose its high iron region and the EDEN alliance would lose control of one of the New World’s 11 high iron resources. The wall has been secured for much of the battle thus far; whether Phoenix intends to seriously contend this battle, or hopes to compel the eUS to protect a critical region while it fights elsewhere, is unclear.

The combination of Karnataka with SE of England puts EDEN in a tough position, as losing Karnataka is non-negotiable. Phoenix’s move on Karnataka is bold but could backfire if the eUS is able to secure it without overexerting itself. If the RW in Karnataka was solely intended to “bait and bleed” the eUS and Phoenix is not able to capitalize in other battles, the situation facing Phoenix could get sour quickly, as these RWs were not cheap and to go away empty-handed would be an enormous disappointment and waste of funds for Phoenix.

Russia Renews Offensive Versus China
In lock-step with the Karnataka RW, eRussia opened two battles against eChina at iron-rich Liaoning and strategically important Xinjiang, the first major action in China in two weeks and eRussia’s first offensive activity against China in nearly a month. eChina has a mutual protection pact (MPP) with eRomania, an EDEN member who has not been directly involved in any of the day’s mayhem, and may receive backing from them. Both fronts have been steadily in the underground, and eRussia seems likely to make headway in the Chinese theater as eChina’s friends are preoccupied in battles elsewhere. With these victories, eRussia could be setting up eSerbia for access to Liaoning, as eSerbia could move from their Pakistani regions and swap through Xinjiang and Inner Mongolia towards Liaoning without resistance. The resource-strapped eSerbians had started their land bridge across Asia in Day 773, so to finally reach the Lion King would be a long time coming for the Phoenix member. From Xinjiang, eRussia could also attempt an attack on eIndia, although no information indicates this to be a motivating factor for Phoenix at this time.

US Starts Resistance Wars in Phoenix-Occupied China
As Phoenix held momentum in the early developments, the eUS countered with two diversion RWs of their own, started in eHungarian Inner Mongolia and eRussian Jillin. It appears that the eUS and EDEN allies are not heavily contesting these two maneuvers, but they could serve to siphon off Phoenix damage to keep them secure and could distract any two-clickers who are aware of the region’s significance to their country but not the circumstances to the battle or the day’s wider context. A third RW started by an eJapanese citizen in the eRussian-occupied region of Kangwon will further serve to distract eRussia and spread their resources.

Norway Declares War on Sweden
eNorway officially declared war on their EDEN ally, eSweden, to create region swapping opportunities to enter the eUK while the eUSA was bogged down with RWs in SE of England and Karnataka, . Because the eUS holds the North West of England, eNorway had been blocked in Scotland and unable to pursue the eUK further south in Great Britain prior to swapping Scotland back to eCanada. The war declaration and subsequent swaps for Midtjylland and NW of England will enable eNorway use its powerful MPPs (eSpain, eGreece, eRomania, and eUSA) to be a stronger second front on the eUK. When and if eNorway would directly challenge the eUK is not known and will have to wait for another day, in all likelihood. They may wait until the eUSA could open a second, simultaneous attack on the Phoenix defenders.

Resistance War Breaks Out in Canadian Delaware

A resistance war in eCanadian Delaware came later in the afternoon, intended to keep the eCanadians bogged down in the latest resistance war started by Phoenix RW master, Donnie Bronco. Delaware had been given to eCanada back in late November to protect against eUK blocking attacks, as the eUK would not be able to move into the middle of the eUS without first coming to a region bordering eCanada and having a battle start with them through the chain reaction clause of MPPs. Now, since eFrance has been overrun and the eUS is in the western part of Great Britain, the need for Delaware to remain with eCanada is not as acute at the moment. Regardless, the battle is drawing away two-clickers and is keeping damage from being diverted to more important fronts.

Greece Launches Attack on Turkey
Several quiet weeks have given way in Asia Minor, as eGreece attacked the Aegean Coast of Turkey, likely in a move to counterbalance Phoenix’s ability to focus on their other attacks. Asia Minor had previously been a major theater of the war, but between the relative stalemate there and some eTurkish problems with distributed denial of services (DDoS) and mutli-banning, the front cooled and had been calm; eGreece may also have wanted to preemptively claim initiative as eTurkey has rebuilt their network of MPPs and could pose a formidable threat to the eGreeks. It is possible that eGreece could score an unexpected victory against eTurkey and dictate the war in Asia Minor.

Brazil Comes Under Fire
Day 812 also saw action coming from the Southern Hemisphere, as ePeru launched its third attempt on the North of Brazil. This resource paradise (holding high iron and wood, along with medium diamonds and grain) is a prized jewel for any country, although ePeru could not possibly plan to hold it indefinitely. The ePolish-friendly government may intend to hold it long enough for an EDEN ally, either eSpain or ePoland, to region swap into it from the Canary Islands, which borders North of Brazil. Phoenix would have little say in the matter as either EDEN country could swap into the resource haven with impunity if ePeru held it-- of course, an ePeruvian victory there is easier said than done, but could happen as everyone else is fighting everywhere else.

At the same time, eSpanish elite soldier and former President, Durruti, started an RW in the eBrazilian-occupied Venezuelan Andean. The battle has not appeared to be getting any backing from the resistance fighters, likely suggesting it was just a "fact-of" RW to divert eBrazilian attention.

Spain Swaps with USA, USA Leaves France
Only two days after helping wipe eFrance off the map at Upper Normandy, the eUSA allowed eSpain to region swap for its three territories of Brittany, Upper Normandy, and Lower Normandy. In doing so, eSpain gains a wider border with the eUK and could portend an eSpanish crossing of the English Channel. If the eUK were to win the SE of England RW, eSpain could quickly attack the region and not worry about blocking out the eUSA, who could move around the back of London by attacking West Midlands, East Midlands, and East of England-- of course, this would be easier said than done.

Closing
Clearly, much has been done in the past few hours, and much could be lost or gained by both sides. Were the eUS to be setback in marching towards London, the difficulties in eventually getting there could be compounded, although the eUK’s recent maneuvers were not cheap and could be sapping its economic strength-- especially considering that the country has lost revenue while recently occupied. The eUS cannot afford to lose Karnataka, and eIndia could come under heavy fire by Phoenix if the region was RW’ed away from the eUSA. And all the action in China could vastly change the balance of power in the region, were eRussia to win both battles with eChina or either of the eUSA-backed RWs unexpectedly had success. Similarly, EDEN could gain a great foothold in South America against a Phoenix-friendly continent were ePeru to win in North Brazil. Time will tell what the battles do to the state of the world.
