Dear Netherlands

Today the eUNL has voted to dissolve the Union between Belgium and Netherlands, and formally recognize the independence of Belgium.

In recent days there was a lot of hysteria about a Dutch Invasion, and this move by the eUNL proves that those paranoid fears were clearly unfounded.

I am writing to say thanks to the Netherlands, for giving Belgium help when it was needed. Let us not forget the original reason for the merger in the first place - Belgium was under a PTO by the Spanish "Imperial Troopers". We needed help, and our friends and neighbours the Netherlands gave us shelter.

Now Belgium is a free state again, but we still remember that the Netherlands was a friend to us in our time of need. Many steps were taken by the Dutch to make Belgians feel welcome - the country was renamed to the United Netherlands, and the official language was changed to English.

So I want to say to my friends in the Netherlands, a heartfelt Thank You. Although Belgium is independent of any alliances, that does not mean that we have forgotten what you did for us when we were under political attack.
