The creation of an alliance is always a difficult process, and CTRL is no exception to this rule. Coupled with the fact that CTRL combines power players from both sides of the isle, anyone who didn’t think there would be some diplomatic issues in the beginning was simply deluding themselves. However, most of the people involved thought that countries would be able to put the petty things aside, and push forward in pursuit of something that has potentially never been done before. Something that could change the very dynamic of war that we’ve been stuck with for the past two years or so.

Secretary General of CTRL, Alexander Auctoritas, published an article pushing every major CP of CTRL to keep to the charter requirement of moving away from Balkan centered conflicts. This article was sparked by Poland signing an MPP with Serbia, and the United States signing an MPP with Croatia, both actions that could be viewed as against the CTRL charter. This incident also resulted in articles being published by the Polish CP, and former Brazilian CP, weighing their opinions on the issue.

The Polish CP, Pierre Dzoncy, responded to what he called an ultimatum from the American CP, which was actually just a request to follow what had been passed in the charter itself, by signing an MPP with Serbia. The criteria that Pierre uses are delineated in his article, but some facts invalidate much of what he says. Specifically, Pierre basically accuses the eUS of being hypocritical towards the exclusion of Balkan conflicts, while if you simply compare when the Balkan MPPs were signed by each respective country, it is obvious that one specific side is not at fault here. Both countries reacted in a similar manner.
Poland - Serbia
USA - Croatia

On the other side of the world, former Brozilian CP, Vigoncalves86, spoke for the sentiments of Brozil, and arguably the United States as well, towards the issues of CTRL. In his article about Balkan Centric logic, Vigon mentions the fact that pre-CTRL, every country had their own friendships and alliances. The entire idea of CTRL was setting up something new, and obviously that meant sacrifices. The eUS was ready to make that choice to create a new world alliance. I guess it’s like that old saying, to get something you’ve never had, you need to do something that you’ve never done before. If we let the alliances and mistakes of the past weigh us down, then CTRL will never survive.

The US and Polish Government are still in communications as to how to deal with this dilemma, and CTRL is by no means dead in this circumstance. The next few days will present diplomatic challenges to both sides

I generally haven't agreed with the majority of Glove’s actions in the past, but no one can fault him on this one. Similar to the way that people used to try to get some activity in the Media Module, he’s announced a 10 gold contest for the best answer to the question, “ Who or what had the most impact on you from this game?” A fairly simple question with a lot of room for people to have creative responses. From what I’ve seen, there are a number of cool articles already out in response to this.
So be sure to take part, you’ve really got nothing to lose, and it’s a pretty unique opportunity to tell your story in this game. The only real question is, why not?

As always, the State Department is looking for new Ambassadors to represent the eUnited States throughout the eWorld, and report back on interesting and important information that’s pertinent to the eUS Government. As always, the Ambassador program specifically appeals to new players that want a way to get involved in the meta-game, because it’s arguably the best place to start. It sets you up with a lot of the active community, as well as giving you a place to expand, and a few new people to meet. Overall, it’s generally a good experience for new players, as well as a valuable asset to the eUS State Department.
